Come Aug. 1, the political activists at NOAA will still spin July as the “hottest” or “one of the hottest July's on record” by tweaking the data to get a headline.

I think one of those missing “days over 85” got sent to Wasilla by mistake. We had a 92.5 on July 5. Broke all records by about 10 degrees, I believe. We’re sorry we used it all up. There just wasn’t anything left of it after everybody soaked it up on the beaches, on boats, and sundecks. We’re sorry. We promise we’ll try not to be so selfish with it next (??) time.

By this time last year we had Dolly.

Things a little slow this Hurricane season.

[Things a little slow this Hurricane season.]

Yeah, I expected something by now.

I traveled to New Orleans in September 2005 after Katrina with a FEMA affiliated church group to work in the evacuee centers west of the city. That year was a doozy. Al Gore attended a national conference of property insurers where he advised them to expect an annual increase in the intensity of storms and to adjust their rate tables accordingly. That goof Bobby Kennedy Jr. was blaming Bush directly for Katrina.

My brother in Florida told me that statistically we shouldn't get any hurricanes in 2006 since 2005 was so active. As it turned out, we had hurricanes in 2006 but none made landfall in the U.S. So her was right.

That graph showed the number of days over 85 degrees this July — and I’ll guarantee you, it ain’t that way in Oklahoma... LOL...

Texas is paying the price for all the coolness you’re enjoying in the East. We’ve set more record highs down here than I can recall - and the associated drought is one of the worst in recorded history. The persistent ridge/trough pattern is more winterlike than mid-summer. Let’s hope it changes soon as the water situation is reaching critical levels for many areas.

Wow, just passing ‘cap and trade’ in the House fixed man-made global warming!

I remember summer 1979ish, 90 straight days of over 90 and 30 something days of over 100. Yes this summer is hot, but I’ve seen hotter. But you are right about the drought, this is the worst drought I’ve seen in S.E. Texas. Almost wishing for a topical thing to bring some rain to us. Even the grass is dying! I’ve never seen that before.
