On Thursday, Sen. Harry Reid said don't blame the Obama administration for the government travel restrictions to resort destinations like Las Vegas.

Reid said the policy came from the Bush administration. Holding nearly 50 pages of e-mails and memos, Reid explained.

Apparently There was a blame session and this was the best they could come up with. I don't know how to verify this information concerning the memos.

But if the Bush Administration did put out memos saying this, it was an internal email/memo and not put on blast as Obama did nationally.

BLAME BUSH strikes again.

We all should get used to it. “Blame Bush” is going to be the common theme for the 2010 elections. Every republican candidate is going to be linked to Bush and the MSN is going to lay it on the public thick.

Well, why the hell doesn't Ogabe CHANGE it?

There must be a great betting line in Vegas on the speed with which ‘Bush’s fault’ is mentioned in news. What? $100 for under 1 minute? 30 seconds?

Vegas can at least make money somehow. Maybe there are adult paraphenalia with ‘blame bush’ on them, or 2fers at the Chicken Ranch for appropriate attire.

from the previous stories:

In a July 14 letter to Sen. Harry Reid, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel denied accusations of an administration policy restricting government travel, saying the administration's view is not focused on specific destinations but rather, the justification for the cost to benefit.

So the Obama admin knew it was happening....and continued Pres. Bush's policy (if it was even a policy) then blamed Pres. Bush for the policy.

Bea-u-ti-ful !

BUT Obama is the f***ing President. That sissy can do it if he wants.

Bush did a lot of bad things at the end of his term (TARP, for example) and Obama is digging it!!

Didn’t Bush think ahead?

So if Obama didn’t agree with it, then how come he didn’t sign an EO saying otherwise?

He sure didn’t hesitate to sign an EO sealing all reference to his birth records? And that was his first day in office.

Heck, no. That's how Granholm (MI) got re-elected. It's how her lieutenant governor, John Cherry, is planning to run his campaign to take her place because of term limits.

“I have here two memos both from the Bush White House, the Bush Justice Department saying, ‘Don’t bring people to Reno or Las Vegas and Atlantic City,’” Reid said.

“Those memos, dated April 2006 and April 2008, state that certain destinations like Las Vegas need to be approved as conference destinations.”

No difference between an internal memo and the need for approving government agencies going to LV and the POTUS declaring publicly that a public company (Wells Fargo) shouldn’t send its high achieving personnel to LV. None at all. Right, Harry?

MORE obamanation deflection.... trying to get our eye off the ball with this flimsy stuff..... how dumb do they think we are?:????

if this is the best that obamanation can come up with in his “wasn't me” crap, then he is pathetic..

we see it for what it is.... smoke and shadows.. Let's talk about the birth certificate, murder, the hidden records, the trillion dollar deficit... the ridicule of America throughout the world since obamanation and finally, the “muslims are my best friend” obamanation rhetoric.

I do not understand why there is a problem about the government travel restrictions to resort destinations like Las Vegas.

People are losing their jobs, homes and still trying to feed their families and these morons are concerned about THEIR trip to resorts.

The current squatter soiling the Whitehouse takes his wife for a $250,000.00 diner date rent a $25,000,000.00 vacation home and the morons we elect try to shove medical insurance tht is a bottomless money pit with people sitting at desks in windowless office telling what we can and cannot have as coverage while exempting them selves from this death trap.

Their whining is just so unreal I am at a loss for words.

Just stay where you are and do your job.

Yea thats correct, earn your money by actually WORKING.

Reid must think his constituents are idiots.

It was Obama that chastised *private* businesses for going to Vegas for their conventions. The bulk of Vegas’ business has always been *private* businesses having conventions there, not government conventions and it was Obama who told them the days of doing that were over.

See here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LHL7QOLdyI

and here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceoY1h5SYkQ&feature=related

Don’t let Reid get away with this. This is just a deflection from the real issues which are:

1) Obama is killing the economy.
2) People have less to spend so they are not going to Vegas to spend it.
3) Obama called out businesses for holding conventions in Vegas.

They want you to believe Bush is responsible. I was in Vegas on Election Night and Vegas was still bustling then.

But if the Bush Administration did put out memos saying this, it was an internal email/memo and not put on blast as Obama did nationally.

It makes perfectly good sense that the Bush administration would've cautioned government agencies to hold their necessary meetings in Alexandria, rather than Las Vegas.

It's the same thing any good manager would've done if he found his P&L sliding.

But Zero is the one who came forth and publicly intimidated private sector companies from going to Las Vegas, specifically.

So, who was it that was being responsible? And who was it that was not?

It might have been Bush's policy. But this is all Obama's bad management going forward...or should we blame his teleprompter.

From this article Nevada Governor Slams Obama's Refusal to Meet With Him ***"I'm shocked the president would make a remark like that and then do nothing, including meeting with the governor in an attempt to repair the damage that his remarks caused," Gibbons told FOX News' Neil Cavuto Tuesday.

In a statement Gibbons put out Monday, the governor said Obama's quote that "you can't get corporate jets. You can't go take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayer's dime" was seen by many as an insult to Las Vegas and as a message to companies across the nation to stay away from Las Vegas for corporate meetings and conventions.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority reports over 400 conventions and business meetings scheduled to take place in Las Vegas recently have cancelled, translating into 111,800 guests and 250,000 "room-nights," according to a statement from Gibbons. The cancelled events cost the Las Vegas economy over $100 million, not including gaming revenue, the governor said.

"I am disappointed at the hypocrisy shown by this administration," Gibbons said. "President Obama is coming to Las Vegas later this month for a political fundraiser, but he will not help the struggling families in Las Vegas and Nevada who are out of work because of his reckless comments. ***
