MSNBC Fill-in Host Donny Deutsch: Palin 'First Woman in Power that has Sexual Appeal'
NewsBusters ^ | July 27, 2009 | Jeff Poor

It's the kind of astute analysis you'd expect from MSNBC - the place for the politics. CNBC regular and MSNBC fill-in anchor Donny Deutsch solved the mystery behind the media's fascination with former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

According to the former advertising executive, it has nothing to do with her stance on several hot-button issues - an advocate of gun rights, a pro-life stance on abortion, pro-exploration and drilling for oil and concerned about the fiscal policies of President Barack Obama. Instead, he contended, it is her sexual appeal that held the media's attention - and not just from a male perspective, but a female perspective as well.

If someone had said that about any number of liberal females on the left - assuming they had sexual appeal - Deutsch would have been crucified...

Do these people have the slightest idea how shallow they are? I know, it’s a rhetorical question.

What liberals can’t take is the fact there are brains under those good looks. Clearly, recent news events have proven that the left cannot judge a person by the content of their character, but only by outward attributes (looks, skin color, etc.). If we aren’t careful, the left could set this country back 50 years or more in every way.

Well, it is true though isn’t it? The headline.

I like Lady Thatcher but....

Most of John Edwards apparel was that people thought he was nice-looking. People are shallow.

The media, yeah they focus on attractive people. They announce when (insert name of attractive actress) crosses the street.

They are like nits, pestering a nuclear attack submarine. Not very effective.

"We face challenging times with some hell-bent on tearing down our nation by perpetuating pessimism and apologizing for America. They suggest that our best days were yesterdays. But how can this pessimism exist? Proof of our greatness and pride is all around us today. We produce proud and great volunteers who sacrifice everything for their country.

"We can resist enslavement to big central government that crushes hope and opportunity. We must be wary of government largesse. It doesn’t come free and often accepting it takes away everything that is free. Melting into Washington’s powerful and caretaking arms will only lead to suck away the incentive to work hard and chart our own course. This will only contribute to an unstable economy and dizzying national debt, and it will make us less free.

"We don’t have to feel that we must beg an allowance from Washington – except to beg the allowance to be self-determined.

"See, in order to be self-sufficient (we) must be allowed to develop, to drill and build and climb to fulfill our promise! We can not start believing that government is the answer. It can’t make you happy or healthy or wealthy or wise. What can? It is the wisdom of the people and our families and our small businesses and industrious individuals. And it is God’s grace helping those who help themselves." - Sarah Palin, July 26, 2009
SARAH'S FAREWELL SPEECH AS GOVERNOR - GREAT READ

Sarah has now initiated her brilliant flanking manuever against the left, the DNC, the MSM and the RINOs that has them all in a frenzy wondering what her next move will be and how it will be perceived...and has them frothing at the mouth in their efforts to discredit her.

Sarah will now get her book out, go on tour, give speeches and promote conservatie principles all over this country in the midst of the Obama administration disaster and gain great political capital in the process. Then she will support conservative candidates in 2010 and help them win, amassing much more political capital. She will then take all of that and make an awesome, stunning run for the Presidency in 2012.

"...like that grizzly guards her cubs, as a mother naturally guards her own. I will keep that vow wherever the road may lead." -Sarah Palin, July 26, 2009

He is an idiot.

He would like to make in only about sex appeal.

However, anyone with half a brain knows her conservative philosophy and successful conservative governance of AK has liberals going daft.

Well, more daft than usual.

Can’t think of one (non-Hollywood) Dem who’s either attractive or has sex appeal, can you ?

Donny Deutsch? The guy that looks down his glasses doing his best Charlie Gibson impersonation trying to look intelligent? I thought he had an eye for Olberman?

Liberal jealousy. We have Palin, they have Pelosi, Clinton (Hill, not Bill) and Barbara Mikulski. In the liberal world, there aren’t many attractive women with brains. Oh, except for Rachel Maddow of course.

Since liberal women have NO sex appeal (e.g. Helen Thomas, Janet Reno, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Susan Estrich, Cindy Sheehan, the list goes on), liberals incorrectly assume that conservative women cannot either.

They've been living in the 1960s for quite a while now...

It seems that starting with her departure speech, she is really gonna start coming out and starting to light a fire of real change in the coming weeks and months...

He's right, to a certain extent.

If she looked like Pelosi, would she be as popular/hated?

You can keep your answer private if it hurts to be honest.

I don’t think anyone over at MSNBC has the proper sexual orientation needed to make an assessment of this ;-)

I was focusing on the excerpt not only the headline.

The rest of what he claims is so not true.

Yeah they notice her attractiveness, but what drives them over the edge is her conservatism and its successful demonstration in governance of Alaska.

And her popularity when people get to see and hear her for themselves.
