America is the Exception to the World's History of Totalitarianism
An important reason to fight for freedom every day.

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Folks, as I told you all last week, this is not a time to start getting giddy or celebratory because fighting these people is a daily thing for the rest of our lives.  They are always going to be here.  I want to restate a point I made on Friday.  I wish I had made this point in the interview with Greta Van Susteren -- by the way, did you see the ratings? Thursday night she owned it.  Thursday night she owned it, highest ratings in cable news in the 10pm hour for Greta.  I was very proud of that.  But one of the things I wish I had told her in this whole discussion that we have here about the encroaching size of government and the designs that Obama has on the economy -- and, by the way, let me give you one more little bit of evidence, front page of the Wall Street Journal today:  "Banks Are Not Lending."  I mean, who's going to borrow?  According to Obama and his staff, businesses need to borrow to meet payroll, but banks don't lend for payroll.  They might lend for inventory buildup if there's a market and they might lend if you want to expand a business, but nobody's expanding.  They're not lending to consumers.  Consumers are afraid, the banks are afraid of lending.

All of this is so predictable.  Nobody who wants economic growth would be doing what Obama and his people are doing.  That's why I keep saying it's purposeful.  You know, I checked e-mail over the weekend and people even in this audience said, "Rush, that's a little harsh.  You're not going to persuade anybody by saying this is purposeful."  I don't know how else to tell you, folks.  One of the things I wish I'd said on Greta that I said Friday, I want to repeat now, is one of the best points that anybody could make in describing the uniqueness and greatness of this country, do you realize that the history of the world is tyranny?  The history of the world is dictatorship.  The history of the world is dungeons and torture chambers.  That's why this country is so unique.  It's just part of human nature for people who desire to have power over other people.  There are people in this country who are Americans who have the same view of totalitarianism that all the worst regimes of the world have had.  They just are a minority, or have been a minority.  They have to be stealth to get anywhere because who's going to vote for torture, who's going to vote for tyranny, who's going to vote for dictatorship?  But we did.  We did.  And you see it slowly encroaching.

If they could move faster on this they would, but it's why this country is so special and so unique in all of human history because it was founded on the exact opposite pretense and purpose, individual liberty and freedom, a Constitution that tells the government what it cannot do to us and to the citizens.  And, of course, Obama and his buds think of the Constitution as consisting of negative rights, meaning it doesn't say what the government can do for us or to us.

Five Freedoms You'll Lose Under Obamacare (According to CNN!)
Even CNN sees what Obama's health care plan will do.

RUSH: One of the things I wish I'd said on Greta that I said Friday, I want to repeat now, is one of the best points that anybody could make in describing the uniqueness and greatness of this country, do you realize that the history of the world is tyranny?

Now, the second story that I was going to mention here, the first headline was funny.  This is from Money magazine, CNN money.com.  "'Five Freedoms You'd Lose in Health Care Reform.' -- If you read the fine print in the Congressional plans, you'll find that a lot of cherished aspects of the current system would disappear."  This is by Shawn Tully, editor-at-large at a Time Warner publication, Money magazine.  I'm stunned that this appears anywhere near the CNN logo, website, whatever.

"In promoting his health-care agenda, President Obama has repeatedly reassured Americans that they can keep their existing health plans -- and that the benefits and access they prize will be enhanced through reform.  A close reading of the two main bills, one backed by Democrats in the House and the other issued by Sen. Edward Kennedy's Health committee, contradict the President's assurances. To be sure, it isn't easy to comb through their 2,000 pages of tortured legal language. But page by page, the bills reveal a web of restrictions, fines, and mandates that would radically change your health-care coverage."  Here's number one, the five freedoms that you would lose, according to CNNmoney.com.  Number one:  "Freedom to choose what's in your plan.  The bills in both houses require that Americans purchase insurance through 'qualified' plans offered by health-care 'exchanges' that would be set up in each state. The rub is that the plans can't really compete based on what they offer. The reason: The federal government will impose a minimum list of benefits that each plan is required to offer. … Connecticut, for example, requires reimbursement for hair transplants, hearing aids, and in vitro fertilization."  Many states require these "standard benefits packages" and they're a major cause for the rise in health care costs along with tort reform.

The number two freedom you would lose, they say, "Freedom to be rewarded for healthy living, or pay your real costs. As with the previous example, the Obama plan enshrines into federal law one of the worst features of state legislation: community rating. Eleven states, ranging from New York to Oregon, have some form of community rating. In its purest form, community rating requires that all patients pay the same rates for their level of coverage regardless of their age or medical condition. Americans with pre-existing conditions need subsidies under any plan, but community rating is a dubious way to bring fairness to health care. The reason is twofold: First, it forces young people, who typically have lower incomes than older workers, to pay far more than their actual cost, and gives older workers, who can afford to pay more, a big discount. … Second, the bills would ban insurers from charging differing premiums based on the health of their customers."

That's like having a good driving record getting you no break on your auto insurance premium.  So all this talk about we're going to live healthier and we're going to mandate this and mandate that to lower costs, which, by the way, we've cut smoking in half and where are the savings?  They don't exist.  The third freedom: "Freedom to choose high-deductible coverage." You're going to lose that.  "The bills threaten to eliminate the one part of the market truly driven by consumers spending their own money. That's what makes a market, and health care needs more of it, not less."  So if you want a high deductible coverage, you're not going to be able to do that.  That would lower your premium, by the way.  Number four: "Freedom to keep your existing plan.  This is the freedom that the President keeps emphasizing. Yet the bills appear to say otherwise. It's worth diving into the weeds -- the territory where most pundits and politicians don't seem to have ventured."  You will lose your health care plan under his plan.

And five: "Freedom to choose your doctors. The Senate bill requires that Americans buying through the exchanges -- and as we've seen, that will soon be most Americans -- must get their care through something called 'medical home.' Medical home is similar to an HMO. You're assigned a primary care doctor, and the doctor controls your access to specialists."  And the last couple sentences of this piece: "For now, we suffer with a flawed health-care system, but we still have our Five Freedoms. Call them the Five Endangered Freedoms."  There's a lot more than just these five that we're going to lose, and now the Democrats, this is the AP: "'Democrats Alone Can't Deliver Obama Health Care.' -- Democratic and GOP officials acknowledged Sunday that Obama's ambitious plan would not pass without the aid of a doubtful GOP, whose members are almost united against the White House effort."

Well, let me tell you something.  If you add up the numbers, if the Democrats are unified, they can't be stopped.  They do not need Republicans.  If they need Republicans, it's because there's a problem with the Democrats.  This is such a glorious good-time political opportunity.  If they had a bad July, let's make August miserable for them.  There's no reason to do any of this, ever, not in two weeks, not in two months, not in two years.  There is no reason to ever enact a health care reform bill like this into law.

RUSH" All right, Susan in Ohio, welcome to the EIB Network.  It's great to have you here.

CALLER: (silence) Yes.

RUSH:  Hi, Susan.  Are you there?

CALLER:  Yes, I am.

RUSH:  Hi!

CALLER:  Hi.  You know, I was wondering. I am self-employed, and I do not have health insurance.  Now, that's at my own choosing.  Now, when I want to get health insurance, or even if I don't want it, how can Obama make me get it?

RUSH:  Pass a law that says you have to have it or you get fined by the IRS.

CALLER:  Okay.  But say, fine, I don't do it. Say a whole bunch of us decide we're not going to do it. Are they going to put us all in jail or what?

RUSH:  No they'll fine you.

CALLER:  Yes, and I don't pay it.

RUSH:  They're going to get your money one way or the other, and they might put you in jail.  Who knows with this bunch?

CALLER:  Yeah.  That's what I meant.  Who could tell with them?  I totally agree.

RUSH:  And they're going to guilt you into it. They're going to come to you and they're going to say, "You're not buying insurance. You're the reason costs are so high. You're going to get health coverage or you're going to get health treatment, medical treatment, but you're not paying for any insurance. So you're putting the burden on a whole lot of more people that otherwise would not have that burden."  This question was asked of Maryland Senator Ben Cardin.  The guy said, "Look, I just dropped my health insurance. I, frankly, like having that money to spend on other things.  Is it true you are going to fine me?" and Cardin yeah. He didn't deny that but he starting berating the guy for being a burden on the system.  Which is no different than telling somebody who does not own a car and therefore does not have auto insurance that they're being a burden to everybody else who does have automobile insurance.  These are the kind of things. People are starting is to ask themselves these questions, the words getting out about this, and the polls indicate it is.  Ed, Camarillo, California, hi.  Great to have you on the EIB Network.

CALLER:  Yeah, Rush.

RUSH:  Yeah.

CALLER:  Hey, it's such a pleasure in getting the shiver running up my leg.

RUSH:  Well, that's fun to envision.

CALLER: (laughing) Yeah.  Basically I was thinking about health care and cap and trade, and one of the people I feel like has always been there just pecking away at this stuff is Henry Waxman from California.  I don't think enough people give him enough credit for what he's doing with all of this.  He's probably had portions of this health care bill in his desk for years and just blew a little dust off it to put it out there.  He just been there pecking away.

RUSH:  You know, you have a little bit of a point here.  Waxman does operate -- for being as powerful and prominent as he is, he does operate -- under the radar.  He's not put in the mix here as one of the people with destructive designs on the US economy.  That's a good point.  I'm glad you called and made it.

RUSH: Ernie in mid-Michigan.  Ernie, welcome to the EIB Network.  Great to have you here, sir.

CALLER:  Yes.

RUSH:  Yeah.

CALLER:  Yeah, last week I noticed at the news conference that he drug it out, at the very beginning of it, I said of all the countries he named off several countries that have government sponsored insurance and he said they're all better than ours.  It's a blatant lie.  All the reporters stood there with their mouths glued shut, nobody challenged him.  I cannot understand why he doesn't get a challenge when he lies.  Another quick thing is that he is so elegant, he's not elegant.  He's not as smart.  I have a high school education and nothing more.  I can tell when he's lying.  You can tell when he's lying and people have got to wake up.  Why don't they challenge him when he lies about our health insurance? We all know it's the best in the world.  Everybody comes here for the services that we can provide.

RUSH:  Yes, and nobody leaves this country for health care.

CALLER:  Why does he say that and get away with it?

RUSH:  Well, that's why I say he doesn't like this country.  Look, the way that this man is selling things is to try to convince everybody that he can that this country is not all it's cracked up to be.  It's all rotten, it's bad, it's gotta be changed, and the reason the press doesn't challenge him, you know, I asked the same question, that press conference was just a joke.  That's why I say they've met their Waterloo.  They have checked their integrity at the terror door.  They have given up on professionalism.  They just said to hell with it, they've become propagandists.  The White House press corps especially, at these press conferences. That's why they're not challenging him, they're there to promote him.  They're there to help him get this done.  They all want the tingle up the leg that Chris Matthews gets every night.  They all want to feel that.  They all want to be approved, and they all want to be liked and they all want to be on the inside with this administration.  I know it's perverted, but that's what we're dealing with, but don't sweat it, 'cause I'm here.

Conyers:  No Need to Read Bills
An amazing statement ignored by State-Run Media.
July 27, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Here. We have the audio of John Conyers.  It's last Friday at the National Press Club.  Now, folks, I'm going to be honest with you.  I didn't know until doing show prep today that Conyers had said this on Friday.  And I only saw it because I checked out the Cybercast News Service.  I didn't see it in any State-Run Media.  Did you?  Did you guys hear about this over the weekend?  It was a shock to everybody, right?  Here's what he said again.

CONYERS:  I love these members that get up and say, "Read the bill!" What good is reading the bill if it's a thousand pages and you don't have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you've read the bill?

RUSH:  That's in a luncheon speech at the National Press Club in Washington last Friday.  "What good does it do to read the bill if you don't have a couple lawyers to find out what it means after you read it?"  This guy is chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.  So... Sometimes it's just best to get out of their way and just let them go ahead and make fools of themselves. Oh, I'm sorry! Mr. Moyers, by the way, I'm sorry for "creating a riot in the public mind "here by publicizing what Congressman Conyers said. I guess this is what Mr. Moyers would accuse me of doing, right? "Creating a riot in the public mind"?  I should not have played this, nor should I have read the story what Mr. Conyers said, right? (interruption) Well, because, you know, I'm fanning the flames according to the White House press secretary. (interruption)  What do you mean people...? Liberals used to tell us people have a right to know, but apparently not this.  I'll bet you this is "fanning the flames," Gibbs says; and Moyers said I'm "creating a riot in the public mind."  They didn't report this.  They did not report it -- and it was on, obviously, C-SPAN.

Palin Blasts State-Run Media, Big Government -- and Scares Liberals
She's the only elected Republican saying these things.
July 27, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Sarah Palin closed out her career as governor of Alaska yesterday.  We have three sound bites from her remarks.

PALIN:  You have such important jobs reporting facts and informing the electorate and exerting power to influence.  You represent what could and should be a respected, honest profession that could and should be a cornerstone of our democracy.  Democracy depends on you.  And that is why our troops are willing to die for you.  So, how about -- in honor of the American soldier -- you quit making things up.  (cheers and applause)  And don't underestimate the wisdom of the people.

RUSH:  Now, what elected official do you hear talking that way to the media about the media?  There is a reason why this woman drew huge crowds during the campaign last summer and into last fall.  And she's exactly right.  They've met their Waterloo, as I said last week, and it's Barack Obama.  They have sacrificed integrity (whatever little they had) their character, their professionalism, to prop this guy and his administration up.  They are stenographers for Rahm Emanuel.  They're propagandists for the White House and, increasingly, the Democrat Party at large.  Here, Sarah Palin warns Alaska to resist big government.

PALIN:  We must value and live the optimistic pioneering spirit that made this state proud and free, and we can resist enslavement to big central government that crushes hope and opportunity.  Be wary of accepting government largesse.  It doesn't come free, and often accepting it takes away everything that is free.  Melting into Washington's powerful, caretaking arms will just suck incentive to work hard and chart our own course right out of us -- and that not only contributes to an unstable economy and dizzying national debt, but it does make us less free.

RUSH:  Is there another elected official talking that way about big government?  Sadly, no.  This next bite is one of my favorites.

PALIN:  Please, let's not start believing that government is the answer.  It can't make you happy or healthy or wealthy or wise.  What can?  It is the wisdom of the people and our families and our small businesses and industrious individuals, and it is God's grace helping those who help themselves. (whistles and cheers) And then this allows that very generous voluntary hand up that we're known for enthusiastically providing those who need it.

RUSH:  That is... (laughs) That's good.  "Government can't make you happy or healthy or wealthy or wise."  Is there an elected official saying these things?   Now, remember, we've got all kinds of people on our side thinking this woman's stupid. She's an idiot. You know, she's unsophisticated and so forth.  I'm always asked what I think of Sarah Palin.  Greta asked me in the interview, and we'll play the sound bite of what I said. The question: "[F]rom an ideology point of view do you think is the smartest or best candidate in your mind now?"

RUSH ARCHIVE:  I'm looking right now who can win. And I'm looking who excites crowds. And also I think, Greta, that the State-Run Media and the Democrat Party will go a long way in telling us who they are most afraid of. And I don't think they're afraid of Mike Huckabee, because they never talk about him. I don't think they're afraid of Mitt Romney much, although if he surfaces, they'll go after his religion again. But they're trying to destroy Sarah Palin. They're literally trying to destroy, not just her career, but her reputation. Now, if they're not worried about Sarah Palin, why do this? I think they, the Democrats, are telling us who right now they are most afraid of, who they think can beat Obama. It's not hard to understand why. You covered Palin a lot during the campaign. Largest crowds on the Republican side, the most enthusiasm. People were revved up and fired up, in some cases even more than Obama rallies. And the Obama rallies were just cult people. They were just showing up to be part of the story. They didn't care what Obama was saying. It's just he was Obama. Sarah Palin was exciting people on substance.

RUSH:  Now, to illustrate my point about the media and their fear of Sarah Palin, let's go to MSNBC Live. The anchor, Carlos Watson, was speaking with the White House correspondent Norah O'Donnell and the Financial Times' Chrystia Freeland about Governor Palin.  They had this exchange.

WATSON:  We talked in the nineties a good deal about the "angry white male" and "angry white men."  Instead of the face of that maybe being a Rush Limbaugh, that the face of it could become a Sarah Palin.  Interesting to me.  What's...? Uhhh, what's your take on her political opportunities in the near term?

O'DONNELL:  No doubt! Yesterday these lines were tough. They would never make it in a general election campaign, but to her supporters, it was exactly the kind of political red meat that people love.  It's the kind of red meat that her supporters love. It's the kind of red meat that has gained her some 13,000 people that have made small donations that have gotten -- helped her bank this more than a million dollars.  So, you betcha, she's got a political future! You betcha she's going to be out there traveling around.

RUSH:  Now they're starting to make fun of her. "You betcha, you betcha." They're clearly worried, and reviving the "angry white..." Once again another prediction I made. We have a black president and racism is going to be exacerbated.  It's not gonna get better. It's not gonna go away. We're not going to get rid of our original sin. I said all that during the campaign, and now look. Now she's an angry white woman. Now they're bringing her race into this, replacing me as the "angry white guy," which, of course, was a myth.  It's just how they tried to characterize people that were opposing them who have success.  So if you listen to them, they will tell you who they're really afraid of by who they try to destroy, who they criticize, who they keep talking about.  And they're worried about her, and making fun of her and so forth.  It's going to be interesting to see all this fallout.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  You know, four years ago the angriest white man in America was Howard Dean.  Today the angriest white man in America is Chris Matthews.  And they're both Democrats.  What's the point?

State-Run Media Talk Up Economy
They're now desperate to declare the recession over.
July 27, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Remember, when was it, back in July, first of the month, CNN did a report on the economy, and I sort of had a little fun with it.  Christine Romans on CNN Your Money on Saturday afternoon spoke with Black Enterprise editor Alfred Edmond and radio host Roland Martin about the stock market and the economy.  And Edmond says, "How much worse could it get when you got down to 6500?  I think it's encouraging. it's somewhat sustained performance by the stock market.  I think you saw the news on housing starts.  That's encouraging.  I think we can take a breath but not relax yet."

MARTIN: Are we getting better?  Yeah, when you're at 6,500 and you're now at 9,000, that's better Rush Limbaugh, it's better whether you like it or not.  So it amazes me when people act as if you cannot acknowledge when the number is better.

ROMANS:  Rush took a little piece out of me, mentioned this program, also my friend Susan Lisovicz saying that by talking about the stock market rally we were somehow missing all of the terrible things that have happened.  But look, you can at least open up your 401(k) statement and see that you're getting a little bit of it back.

MARTIN:  Rush, you can't argue with those facts. And so you always want to see positive growth. You always want to see that if things are getting slightly better that's much better than it's getting worse. Literally it was every day people going, "Oh, my God, not another report of how bad it is."

RUSH:  Well, I don't quite know what to say here.  It sounds like both news networks -- we'll exclude Fox -- were actually programming to me over the weekend.  The point here, notice that the stock market is ticking up and so that's their lone -- well, they talk about housing starts, but my point is they're looking for any bit of evidence of what Obama's doing is working, and what's happening is that the industriousness of the American people is dealing with the damage that Obama has wrought.  The stock market is still down, gang.  It peaked up at over 14,000.  It's down 16 points today.  Look, there aren't any new jobs being created, we're still losing jobs, and the forecast for that is to continue.  Here's the original report that CNN aired back on July 1st.

ROMANS:  The silver lining, if you will, is that May was revised -- the previous month, I should say, was revised lower, and that was May.  Also we have a separate report from Challenger Gray & Christmas which shows the planned job cuts, the announcements slowed, and that is the fifth straight month, so that is encouraging.  What is also high, and this is also silver lining, is the first day of July starting off on a positive note, the Dow is up 128 points, the NASDAQ is up 25.  Good start.  Tough act to follow, though, the second quarter rally that we saw.

RUSH:  This is the same bunch of people here that tried to tell us we were in a recession during a boom.  They were doing everything they could to make everybody think that economic times were disastrous during the Bush years.  Now, that was one report that we had a little fun with.  That's why they're referencing.  And here's on June 30th, the day before, on CNN's Newsroom the anchor Betty Nguyen spoke with Christine Romans about the economy.  Betty Nguyen says, "Christine Romans here to explain.  How did we do in the first half of the year?"

ROMANS:  (giddy) We've seen a spring stock market rally that has been quite incredible.  Job losses are slowing. Consumer confidence is improving. People are feeling a little better.  They're feeling better because they're spending less. They're saving more money. They're getting back to basics. There's a new frugality that's making them feel better.  There was a hu-u-uuge rally in the stock market in the second quarter. The stock market [is] telling us that it thinks things are going to get better eventually, and you're going to see that rally. If you are still invested in stocks -- if you had faith and you were buying stocks along the way this spring, you're buying them at cheap prices -- you're going to see that rally when you open up your 401(k) statement.

RUSH:  People are still scared to death to look at their 401(k) statements, folks.  I just think it's humorous that these people will do anything, the State-Run Media will do anything to try to tell people that what they're seeing and feeling isn't true.  By the way, I just found this news story: "Phone company Verizon says it will cut 8,000 jobs from among employees and contractors before the end of the year to keep costs in line as the recession saps demand from businesses for telecommunications services." But, boy, that stock market is going up, that 401(k), when you open it up, it's ticking up, it's looking a little better, and housing starts are up, and 8,000 jobs gone, Verizon, by the end of the year.  Taxes are going up.  Regulations are going up.  Okay, there you have it.  Now, let's move forward and stay with CNN.  Sound bite number ten, Susan Lisovicz today talking with the anchorette Heidi Collins about the market and the economy, and Heidi Collins says, "Joining us now, Susan Lisovicz from the New York Stock Exchange.  Hi, Susan."

LISOVICZ:  We've seen the market turn around.  Why is that?  Well, you just mentioned new home sales.  The expectation was that new home sales rose 2.3% last month.  Guess what?  It jumped 11%.  That is --

COLLINS:  What?

LISOVICZ:  -- the number we are seeing.

COLLINS:  What?

LISOVICZ:  Yes.  Yes.  We saw the third straight monthly increase, Heidi, a remarkable summer scorcher.  The sense that corporate America is telling us things may be bottoming out or in some cases improving just a little bit, and so the market has taken off on that.  The Dow's best two-week run since the beginning of the decade; the NASDAQ rallied 12 consecutive sessions.  We haven't seen that since before the dot-com bubble way back when in 1992.  And now we're getting this information that the housing market, which I think many would argue, which is where this crisis all began, is showing signs of life.

RUSH:  Now, Heidi Collins, the infobabe here, is so ecstatic that she asks for a clarification.

COLLINS:  I'm sorry.  I'm a little slow.  I just want to make sure I have this right.  We thought it was only going to go up by about two-to-three percent, but it actually went up 11?

LISOVICZ:  That's right. (giddy) These are estimates, and --

COLLINS:  Right.

LISOVICZ:  -- as you know sometimes they're way off.  This would be an example.  And a lot of times we see revisions, and we saw a revision as well.  The revision was higher.  But the fact is, there's activity.

RUSH:  They're just excited as they can be over at CNN, the stock market going up.  Now, remember, when the stock market was doing great guns, that's not good during the Bush administration, that just meant Wall Street was getting rich, but Main Street wasn't. Remember, it may be good for Wall Street, but it's lousy for Main Street.  Well, now that it's getting better for Wall Street, all of a sudden the State-Run Media is all excited.  Main Street still in heap big doo-doo.  Eight thousand jobs at Verizon gone by the end of the year, but at least their 401(k)s are going to look a little better when they open them up after they get their pink slip.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: On this housing start business, I need some clarification.  I don't have the story right in front of me.  This housing, is that new homes?  That's new construction?  That's not sales of existing homes? (interruption)  New construction. (interruption)  Mmm-hmm.  Right.  So it's up 11% but it's down 28% from this time, but it's going up. Oh, yeah, it's ticking up. Right.  Now can I ask you: What might be an explanation for new home starts and housing starts going up?  What do you think? (interruption) Mmm-hmm. Mmm-hmm. There is a plan out there, folks. I don't know if you know about it.  First-time home buyers are being subsidized to the tune of eight grand if they buy a new house.  It's ending soon.  That plan's going to be ending very soon, and that's one of the reasons why people are out there buying houses.  There's another reason, too.  The whole housing market, everybody who owns a home knows how much value you have lost in it.  A lot of people are under water.

Well, if the housing market as a whole is down, you can get a foreclosed house today on the cheap.  You can get a foreclosed anything.  You can go out and buy a $4 million yacht for $2 million today.  I saw an ad for used jets.  I saw a Gulf Stream III, a GIII, "We have to sell 10 million bucks." (interruption) No, I'm not going to buy as a second jet.  I thought about getting one, keeping the GV for the long hauls and getting a GIV again for the short trips, but I... (interruption) No, not to take the jets... I was thinking about doing that just to prop up the business since Obama's trashed that business, too.  But my point here is that prices are down overall in the housing market.  It's a smart time to buy, if you have the wherewithal.  So, you know, the markets work.  The market is responding to the destruction of the subprime mortgage crisis. (interruption)  Mmm-hmm.  Well, the sellers of new homes may not be getting as crushed as the sellers of existing homes. The sellers of existing homes are certainly getting crushed.

Either that or they're getting foreclosed on despite Obama's foreclosure plan. That didn't really work, thank goodness.  The prices are down anyway because of the depressed nature of the market.  So it's a smart time to buy if you have the money and if you want a home.  It's a smart time to buy, but let me tell you... (laughing) I don't want to make you guys mad in there.  But property taxes where we live here in Palm Beach County, they just voted last week for a 15% increase, despite the plummeting values of people's houses.  So it's no different.  They tell you, "Go out and buy a car that gets 60 miles to the gallon." You go do it, and then all of a sudden they realize their gasoline tax revenue is coming up short. So then they raise that tax.  That's what's happening here with property taxes.  I don't care if it's a local government, a national government, a federal government, whatever. They will never do with less, folks.  They'll never do with less, and they will cry and whine and moan at the very thought of having to do with less.  You cry and moan when they raise your taxes, and there's nothing you can do about it.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I have this new home sales story here, and there's very good point that needs to be -- and, by the way, ABC Radio News said at the top of the hour, I'm told, that some economists are declaring the recession over today.  ABC Radio News: Some economists say that the recession is over today.  Okay, so new home sales are up and the recession's over.  So can we slash the stimulus money that's not been spent yet? Can we just cancel the stimulus? If the recession is over, and if home sales are up, can we cancel the rest of the stimulus?  Can we stop this spending? These people cannot get their rhetoric straight.  And, look, I don't want to be a black helicopter guy here, but we know something.  We know that Obama brought the CBO guy in for a kneecapping, and this a violation of ethics.  That's an independent agency of Congress, and Obama calls a director of the CBO up to the White House after they issued a report saying Obama's health care plan will bloat the deficit by another $250 billion.

That's, frankly, very low.  So since Obama the CBO guy up to kneecap him, I'll believe these numbers when I see the revision in two weeks. It will be real interesting to see if these numbers are revised down a couple weeks from now.  I honestly want to say I don't much trust the numbers that come out of this administration.  Anyway, here's the thing on the home sales.  "New home sales in June posted the fastest increase in more than eight years as buyers took advantage of bargain prices, low interest rates, and a federal tax credit for first-time home buyers."  That's the eight grand.  "The Federal tax credit covers 10% of the home price, or up to $8,000 for first-time buyers.  Home sales need to be completed by the end of November for buyers to take advantage."  Well, now, what's the teachable moment here?  What is incentivizing home sales?  A tax cut or a tax credit.  Now, if a tax cut -- or credit, however you want to look at it -- can stimulate the housing market this way (we'll stipulate to these numbers for the moment) then is there not a teachable moment here where maybe the same kind of activity over the economy at large would do the same thing for the economy at large?  It's amazing what these libs will do here and there to get good news.  They know what to do.  It's just getting them to do it is another matter.

Obama White House Says Rush Fans Flames of Racism for Money
Backed into a corner, Gibbs and Dyson lash out.
July 27, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Last Friday night on MSNBC, they had a guest host in there, Richard Wolffe, interviewing the White House press secretary, Robert Gibbs.  Question:  "Rush Limbaugh says this is all about ethnic politics," the Gates business.  "He even compared the president to the prosecutor in the Duke rape case." Oh, that got them so upset! That got 'em so upset all day long when I called him "Barack Nifong."  That sent MSNBC into fits. A couple people over there had to go into heart surgery.  So I called him "Barack Nifong," and they don't like it. He "even compared the president to the prosecutor in the Duke rape case today. He said the president was playing the race card.  How do you respond to somebody with a bullhorn who is trying to provoke racial fears and resentment?"

GIBBS:  The president wants to have constructive dialogue with people that clearly want to have constructive dialogue on issues that are as important as race.  Uh, whether or not Rush Limbaugh wants to be part of, uh, a constructive dialogue or whether he wants to get ratings to sell commercials, uh, on a radio show, I'll let him answer that question.  Rush is paid a lot of money to fan the flames, uhhh, again so he can sell advertising on his radio show. Uh, I -- I -- I don't think that's what's important.  I think what's important is obviously these are important issues, they have been over the lifetime and the history of our country, and the president takes them seriously and wants to deal with them seriously.  I think that's what it's going to take.  I think that, uh, very few of our issues are going to be solved yelling at each other on talk radio.

RUSH:  Now, am I correct? Did I hear that I am fanning the flames and I'm doing it to sell advertising?  I heard the White House press secretary say that?  Who started all of this?  Fanning the flames?  His boss, the president of the United States.  Mr. Gibbs and Mr. Wolffe of MSNBC have it exactly backwards if they blame anybody, especially me, for what the president did.

RUSH: Bob in Chicago, you're next on the EIB Network.  Hello, sir.

CALLER:  Thank you, Rush, very much --

RUSH:  You bet.

CALLER:  -- for all the wisdom you have shared through the years.  I've become a good listener of yours, I have to say honestly, in the last six months.

RUSH:  Well, thank you very much.

CALLER:  And all I can say is I want to apologize to the nation, as funny as it may sound to you for what representatives we send out of the state of Illinois and to lead the nation the way they're doing, it's a disgrace.

RUSH:  Yes, it is.

CALLER:  And I see it, I cannot believe it, and if anybody owes anybody an apology, the president should apologize to you because you probably have been more help -- he probably listens to you more than a lot of us because you end up being a step ahead of them so many times and you were in this last incident, and I couldn't believe it, it only took hours this time for him to turn around and throw him under the bus.  And it's just a shame.

RUSH:  That was funny on Friday when he did throw Gates overboard.  I knew it was going to happen.  We knew that if it did happen, if the focus group, polling, whatever, if it got really desperate they'd throw Gates overboard, and they did.  And now all kinds of news is coming out about this guy Gates and some of his past speeches, he's got a charitable foundation that gives money to friends and Harvard colleagues, but not very much compared to what it's raised.  He's a racist.  He's an angry racist, and when he applied for admissions to Yale, he said, yeah, okay, I have to sit and be judged by whitey again.  Mark Steyn makes a point that he doesn't even know the difference between Robbie Burns and Shakespeare and who said what, and he's supposedly this great thinker and professor and so forth.

But the caller said Gibbs should apologize to me for the fanning the flames comment.  The last two Democrat administrations have tried to make me out to be racist.  Bill Clinton did it at a White House Correspondents Dinner early in the nineties and now Gates on television I guess Friday night, when I had nothing to do with it.  All I did was report, and what everybody else did was report what the president said in his press conference.  See, what really bugged 'em, what really bugged 'em is when I called him Barack Nifong.  They always tell you when you score.  They'll always tell you when you hit the bull's-eye.  They were so busy worrying about Barack Nifong they didn't hear me call him Barack Fonda.  Wait 'til they get that.

We'll be back.  Stay with us.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  When a Democrat White House gets into a tight spot, when a Democrat White House gets into a corner, what do they do?  They lash out at Rush Limbaugh.  They lash out at me.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Obama keeps saying that he is pushing government-run health care -- which he mischaracterizes as "reform" -- for the people but the people do not want what he is pushing, which is why I'm going to replay a sound bite here from Robert Gibbs in just a second.  Every poll shows the American people do not want what he's pushing.  It's a good thing he doesn't have to sell anything to get what he wants.  You know, he can send his press secretary out there to say I fan the flames here to sell advertising.  Every dollar spent in advertising on this program is freely given by the people who spend it.  I don't have the power to take one person's money, not a penny from anybody.  He does, and he's doing it.  He's taking money out of the pockets of us, our children, our grandchildren, and kids that have not even been born yet. He has taken money out of their pockets!

This underscores what is going on here.  Obama is pushing his own agenda.  It's not an agenda in line with what the nation wants.  He doesn't care what the nation wants, nor do liberals in general care.  They're going to do what they want to do, however they can do it, whether you want it or not.  Now Obama is trying to use brute political force to get it: dumping on the CBO, trashing insurance companies and doctors, and pressuring all these members of his own party.  Let's not forget, you know, they can sit out there and say I'm fanning the flames all they want.  I'm not the guy that hates doctors.  I'm not the guy that impugned doctors in a primate press conference claiming they do tonsillectomies unnecessarily just to line their pockets.

I'm not the guy who said, "I don't like insurance company profits. They're too big. I'm going to squeeze 'em." He said that Wednesday night.  You know, we're forgetting, I think. The most important aspect of that press conference was his attack on the health care system as it exists and it all got shoved aside because of the Gates question and answer at the end of the press conference.  But to illustrate the brute force of this man, no poll shows that anybody wants any more stimulus. No poll shows that a majority of the American people want his health care plan.  It doesn't matter!  How's that hope and change working out for you?  How's all that "reform" working out for you?   By the way, from the Washington Prowler at the American Spectator:

"It wasn't out of a need for racial healing that President Barack Obama reached out to his old friend, ["Skip"] Gates, Jr., and Cambridge Police Sgt. James Crowley. 'We were looking at House hearings on the matter moving fairly quickly, and that wasn't going to be good for us or for Gates,' says a White House source. 'We needed this thing to go away and go away fast.' Early Friday, the White House got wind of Rep. Edolphus Towns' interest in holding hearings into the matter of Gates' arrest, and more broadly looking into the issue of racial profiling by law enforcement. Towns is chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, as well as the senior House Democratic Member of the Congressional Black Caucus.

"Adding to the desire to get the story buried was the media's seeming refusal to let the story drop. By noon Friday, House press secretary Robert Gibbs, along with other senior White House officials, recommended that Obama either walk back his statement further than he did on Thursday, or take proactive action." So it was wasn't out of a desire for racial healing. They did not want Democrat hearings on racial profiling. They didn't want Towns going to town. It wouldn't help Gates; it wouldn't help Obama. They didn't want Congress getting sidetracked and putting on a national show on this sort of thing.  They want to move the issue of race along in a little bit more stealthy way.  Now, I want to go back to this sound bite from Gibbs.  This is Friday night on MSNBC a fill-in host.  "Rush Limbaugh says it's all about," the Gates episode, "ethnic politics.  He said the same pretty much about Judge Sotomayor and the white firefighters. Hew even compared the president to the prosecutor Duke rape case." Barack Nifong.  "And he said the president was playing the race card.  How do you respond to somebody with a bullhorn who's trying to stoke racial fears and resentment?"

RUSH: All right, stop the tape.  It always comes down to -- you're right -- my money.  It always comes down to that. Moyers. Here's Gibbs.  I didn't start anything.  They did.  And as I want to reiterate here: Every dollar spent on advertising in this show is freely given.  None of it is coerced.  The president of the United States cannot say that.  The president of the United States, in order fund what he wants to do, has to take money from every one of us.  And it was the president of the United States who fanned the flames.  He lit the match, and he fanned the flames.  So when this White House gets in trouble: Lash out at Rush Limbaugh.  Go to sound bite number five right now.  This is also Friday night on MSNBC. The same fill-in host rebuke Richard Wolffe, is interviewing the sociology professor from Georgetown, Michael Eric Dyson -- one of your favorites, Snerdley.

And Richard Wolffe says, "The president by his own admission helped to ratchet up this matter.  He clearly wants to tone things down and elevate the discussion.  Did he do enough today to move that in the right direction?"  And we now know that "elevating the discussion" and "toning things" down had only to do with the fact that they were scared of Edolphus Towns' committee doing hearings into this.  They weren't trying to soothe racial tensions. It's all politics. It's always all politics with everything this bunch does.  Now, here's -- here's the answer to that question from Michael Eric Dyson: "Did Obama do enough today to move in the right direction?"

DYSON:  Rush Limbaugh has perverted the nature of the conversation.  To call Barack Obama an angry black man is as ridiculous as calling Rush Limbaugh a first-class intellectual.  So the reality is that, uh, President Obama -- with equanimity and poise -- articulated his viewpoint, talked about the competing forces that, uh, made this situation untenable, and then tried to resolve it by acknowledging that perhaps, uh, tempers flared on both sides but not denying the legitimacy of the point that m-must not be lost here in all of the discourse:  The president is committed to using his bully pulpit to inform, to enlighten, and to elevate the conversation beyond the trashy character that Rush Limbaugh is addicted to.

RUSH: (laughing) Bull's-eye last Friday! (rubbing hands together) Bull's-eye, bull's-eye.  Well, you know, not just the Barack Nifong line, but they're finally hearing me. He's an angry black guy.  I do believe that about the president.  I do believe he's angry.  I think his wife is angry.  All liberals are enraged all the time anyway.  They're always mad.  But if he's not mad, if he's not angry, why does he run around apologizing for the country all over the place?  There's something going on here, and it certainly isn't a love and devotion to the whole concept of American exceptionalism, is it?  Yeah, Barack Nifong! (grumbling) "First class intellectuals like us, that trashy Rush Limbaugh, first class intellectuals like us, right on."  (laughing)  Lord, thank you for my enemies.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: This Eric Dyson guy, and Gibbs, these guys talking about, "If we want to have a constructive dialogue, and if Rush Limbaugh wants to be part of that, well, we welcome him." Constructive dialogue?  Who was the first to offer a compromise stimulus proposal?  Me!  It was in my Wall Street Journal op-ed.  I published that offer in the Wall Street Journal.  As for ratings and profit, I'll take my ratings over Obama's any day of the week, folks.  Mine are way up, his are way down.  As for profit, I don't need lectures from people who have never created a real job or held a real job but who are in fact destroying jobs in record numbers.  I don't need to be lectured by people who are tearing apart the US economy.  Profits beat bankruptcy.  Profits propel jobs.  Profits beats your philosophy of socialism, Gibbs.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  I just noticed on the next page of the audio sound bites that there was more from Michael Eric Dyson.  So, I'll tell you what, grab number five.  We'll play these two back-to-back so that they are in context.  Michael Eric Dyson asked on MSNBC Friday night if Obama had done enough to move in the right direction toward racial healing.

Did he write his answer?  It sounds like he's reading a written answer.  I know, I know, it's a speech pattern, but first class intellectual. (laughing)  Exactly right.  Obama was not using the bully pulpit to inform, enlighten, and elevate the conversation. He was trying to shut it down.  He was trying to stop the conversation, Michael.  Trying to stop it because one of his buddies in the House was going to start having hearings on it, and that wasn't going to help anybody.  So then the next question, "Rush Limbaugh did say that Obama played the race card.  He said here you have a black president trying to destroy a white policeman. So how do Republicans win black African-American voters, even suburban independent voters, when this is the kind of debate they're listening to?"

DYSON:  Rush Limbaugh does not play to the better angels of their nature.  Rush Limbaugh, his entire modus operandi is to deconstruct the sheen of genius and of incredible popularity around this president.  The Republicans must be willing to be self-critical.  We've heard of driving while black, now housing while black, being housed while black, is that a sin as well?

RUSH:  I don't understand that.  Driving while black?  The aura of genius? I guess it is first class intellectualism.  If nobody can understand what it means then it sure as hell is first class intellectualism.  If Obama was not trying to harm this cop, what was he doing?  You think Obama would have said a word about this if the cop had been black?  Do you?  Do you think there would have even been a question at the press conference asked if the cop had been black?  As it turns out there were three cops there and one of them was black and the other one was Hispanic.  The white guy was -- (laughing) -- I know, that's right.  The woman that called in did not identify the race of the guys that she thought were breaking into Gates' house.  Gates and Obama were the ones that went after the cop.  They're the ones that first injected race into this.  The cop didn't.  The 911 caller didn't.  But somehow now it's all Rush fanning the flames here, tearing at the better angels of our nature.

RUSH: Deborah in Pensacola, Florida, hi. It's great to have you here.

CALLER:  Hi, Rush.  I just wanted to say one thing.

RUSH:  Yes.

CALLER:  I saw you on TV the other night with Greta and my husband and I are so thankful that you have lost so much weight because we need you.

RUSH:  Thank you very much.

CALLER:  You are a necessary part of our nation.

RUSH:  You know what? I lost six pounds over the weekend.

CALLER:  You look great.  I mean, you're very handsome. You look great. We're very happy for you.

RUSH: Thank you.

CALLER: My husband listened to you on Greta the other night. I recorded the program.  He's a very bright man, board certified in two specialties of medicine. He's an associate professor at FSU medical school. We live in Pensacola, he teaches students blah, blah, blah. So you get the idea.  He was listening to you, and we listened to the whole show, both of them, and my husband said to me, he goes, "You know..." He goes, "Obama is a very good speaker. He's eloquent." He goes, "But, Rush, is much more eloquent because he is able to get down to the people in terms that they understand without doing this rhetoric that he constantly does with his fancy language and his, you know, chip on his shoulder and the way he struts his information."  You are so intelligent. You are much more intelligent than he is, and they are afraid of you.  They're afraid of you and Sarah Palin, they're afraid of Sean, and they are afraid of Glenn Beck.  You guys are just the best, and we need you so badly.

RUSH:  Well, they're also afraid of Levin.  He's got a million copies of his book out there.

CALLER: Oh yeah! I'm sorry. I didn't mean to skip over him.

RUSH: Well, if you're going to list it, you gotta include Mark Levin in the roster.  I just want to thank you very much, because you're very bright to have spotted my intelligence (laughing) in light of it being under assault today by "first class intellectual" Michael Eric Dyson, whatever his name is, but I want to correct one small --

CALLER:  Take it as a compliment.  I'm sorry to interrupt you.  Take that as a very big, big compliment.

RUSH:  Oh, I do.  That's why I thanked God earlier for my enemies.

CALLER: (laughing)

RUSH: But I want to say to you, you said or your husband said that I was able to get down to the American people and speak in a way --

CALLER: Communicate, yes.

RUSH:  Yeah.  But I am one of them.  I'm not up... You know, I'm not an elitist.  I don't have that kind of attitude or carriage.

CALLER:  No, you don't.

RUSH:  The reason that I'm able to speak the truth to people is because I'm one of them.

CALLER:  That's right but you know how many people have been one of them and then all of a sudden they, you know, make a good living for themselves and all of a sudden they're above it all, they're above the fray?  You're not like that.  You know, you know who you are and realize that you're just one of the people in this country that's trying to make a good living and be a good person.  That's what it's all about.

RUSH:  Well, thank you.

CALLER: Thank you.

RUSH: Like I said in the second half of the show. Friday night I said this. She asked me, "How have you been around at 21 years at this level," and the reason that I never forget (and it's constantly in my mind) who it is that's made me successful.  It's all of you. You know, I don't...

CALLER: (laughing)

RUSH: No.  This show every day, the expectation, I mean the desire I have is to meet and surpass everybody's expectations, and those are pretty high expectations.  People know this is the number one-rated radio talk show in the country and they expect it to continue to be that.  If I started phoning it in, I'd lose my self-respect.  But all of this stuff matters deeply to me, too, as it does to a lot of people.

CALLER:  You're absolutely right.

RUSH:  You're very kind. It's very nice. I really --

CALLER:  We all love you. There is really true love and respect for you. That's the point that we want to make. And when my husband says something -- because he's not really, you know, a television person. He doesn't like to watch the news that much because it bothers him. Because every day. his job is affected by it, treating these little 22-week babies. You know, those are the babies that Obama throws in the garbage. I mean, I hate to mention it on TV but those are the ones that my husband saves: the baby Obama says you can abort.

RUSH:  Yeah.  Really, you're not elevating the dialogue here with that.  Michael Eric Dyson is going to be on your case that we --

CALLER:  I'm sorry about that. (laughing)

RUSH:  MSNBC will be on your case.

CALLER:  I'm flattered. (laughing)

RUSH:  Deborah, thank you -- and thank your husband for me, too, okay?

CALLER:  I will.  Thank you very much for speaking with me, Rush.

RUSH:  My pleasure.

CALLER:  Have a nice day.  Okay.

RUSH:  You do --

CALLER: Okay, bye.

RUSH: You do the same.

RUSH: George in South Windsor, Connecticut. Hi George, welcome to the EIB Network.

CALLER:  Yeah, Rush, I'm so glad you mentioned unchecked power.  I am so frustrated and aggravated, not surprised over this Gates situation, because all you have to do is listen to Obama's words.  He said in the press conference, "I don't know all the facts," and then the next words out of his mouth are, but the Cambridge police acted stupidly.  There is no other way to interpret that other than I don't know what the hell happened but the cops are wrong.  And that is just in his words, his own words, he is admitting --

RUSH:  It's prejudice.  It's prejudice, bias.

CALLER:  How can you not -- and then all these mouthpieces are out there for Obama trying to spin this, and it is absolutely ridiculous.  And the dirty little secret is this cop's got a recording.  They haven't played it yet, but as soon as it was going badly, he pressed a button.  He's got a recorded conversation.  And let me tell you what, that must be very incriminating.  And that's why, to your point, Obama is throwing Gates under the bus, he wants to have a beer, he wants to make this all go away with all his mouthpieces.  And how can you misinterpret his words?  There is unchecked power.  This is an example of unchecked power in the media.  This guy can do whatever he wants.  And, you know, if I can make one other comment?

RUSH:  Yeah, quickly.

CALLER:  I think your speeding up recording is innovative.  I love the way you sped up all these Democrats, it shows how desperate they are and it's just an innovative way to -- nobody else on radio does what you do.  And that's an example of it.

RUSH:  Thank you.  Thank you very much.  You're very kind.  I appreciate that.  By the way, time is limited here.  But I do want to play a soundbite for you.  On Fox News Sunday yesterday, Bret Baier asked Robert Gibbs, "Before Wednesday's news conference, did you prepare the president for a question about the Gates arrest?"

GIBBS:  Safe to say we went over a whole lot of topics that we thought might come up and certainly this was a topic that was and has been in the news.

RUSH:  So they planned for it.  They planned for it and he still blew it.  Well, he didn't think he was blowing it.  Obama thought what all guys like him think.  He thought he was going to nail this cop, he's going to get it done, nobody could stop it 'cause he's got the power of the presidency.  But he goes out there and says, "I don't know all the facts."  Even prepping it he still blew it.  We have to admit and they admit, by the course of action they've taken that he blew it.

RUSH: Oh! Joni somewhere in North Carolina.  Hi.  Nice to have you on the program.

CALLER:  Hello, Mr. Limbaugh.  It's a pleasure to talk to you.

RUSH:  Thank you very much.

CALLER:  I was on Drudge Report today, and I was reading some stuff about the... Oh, gosh, what is it?  Mr. Gates?

RUSH:  Oh, yeah. "Skip."

CALLER:  And I was so upset -- and I just lost the thing.  But he talks about "whitey."

RUSH:  Yes.

CALLER:  Have you read about that?

RUSH:  Yes, yes, yes, of course.  I'm the host.

CALLER:  Okay.

RUSH:  He said.. Yes, it was when he was getting into Yale. He said he had to sit and be judged by whitey.

CALLER:  Yeah.  I think that's so offensive, because speaking to the judge that screened my call, and I just think that it sounds like they were both sitting -- Obama and Gates were sitting side by side in front of Reverend Wright.  I think this is inappropriate. I think it's demeaning to the office of the presidency.  I'm just breathless... Frustrated... I mean, I can't even talk about it. It's so upsetting to me because I think it's wrong, and he should apologize because he's offended so many people.

RUSH:  Well, but he didn't say it recently.  That was back...

CALLER:  Oh, I'm talking about Obama.

RUSH:  Obama.

CALLER:  Obama should apologize for taking this man's side when he didn't know all of the facts, and knowing -- because aren't they good friends?  He should know.

RUSH:  Now.  Now, now, now, now.  Now, now, now, now.  Gods don't apologize.

CALLER: Mmmph. That's right, I forgot.

RUSH:  Yes.

CALLER:  The Messiah.

RUSH:  Get your mind right.

CALLER:  Ugh! Well, I think it's going to be a long three and a half years.

RUSH:  Well, that's why I'm here.

CALLER:  And we thank you so much.

RUSH:  I will tell you when it's hopeless.

CALLER: Ugh.

RUSH: And it isn't.

CALLER:  Well, we do look to you.

RUSH:  Thank you very much.

CALLER:  We do.  And thank you so much for everything that you do for us.

RUSH:  Well, Joni, my thanks to you, seriously.  I gotta take a quick time-out here, folks.  We'll do that.  We'll be back with more broadcast excellence right after this.  Well, this is a commercial break that came about "fanning the flames for advertising," quote, unquote, Robert Gibbs, White House press secretary, that's what he says I do.

Obama to ChiComs:  We're Partners
We're partners in what, Obama?  Communism?
July 27, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: This morning at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, the International Trade Center, Obama addressed the inaugural US-ChiCom strategic and economic dialogue and here is a portion of his remarks.

OBAMA (sped-up):  No one nation can meet the challenges of the Twenty-First Century on its own nor effectively advance its interests in isolation.  And it's this fundamental truth that compels to us cooperate.  Let us be honest.  We know that some are wary of future.  Some in China think that America will try to contain China's ambitions.  Some in America think that there is something to fear in a rising China.  I take a different view.  I believe in a future where China is a strong, prosperous, and successful member of the community of nations; a future when our nations are partners out of necessity but also out of opportunity.

RUSH:  Now, let me explain to you what's going on here.  The president of the United States wants China to become a superpower.  He does not want the United States to be the sole superpower in the world.  But there's something else going on here, too, folks, and it is this.  The ChiComs own our debt, and the ChiComs are not happy with what's happening to their investment.  If you were an investor in the American government, in the United States government -- and you're communist and your whole party is communist -- and you see what one of your brothers is doing to your investment, you'd be steamed, too. The ChiComs want answers.  That's what all these "dialogues" are about.  US and China, partners in what?  Communism?  What does he want to be partners with them in?  They're asking Geithner all these questions, Geithner's promised, "Oh, we're going to get our deficits down." I told you first hour that means they're going to raise taxes.

But if you are a huge investor in our debt, and you saw that? (laughing) You'd be steamed as well.  And you would want answers, and you wouldn't like what is being done to the engine that is going to be responsible for making your debt whole, making your debt good.  So I'll tell you, it's just... (sigh). Every day, it's five or six things that this White House is doing and for the most part they're stumbling now.  And this Eric Dyson guy, and Gibbs, these guys talking about, "If we want to have a constructive dialogue, and if Rush Limbaugh wants to be part of that, well, we welcome him." Constructive dialogue?

Moyers, Paragon of Virtue:  Rush Incites "Riots in the Public Mind"
Astounding statement from a jealous liberal statist.
July 27, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: El Rushbo was all over the media over the weekend.  Friday night, PBS, Bill Moyers Journal, he said this about the Fairness Doctrine.

MOYERS:  Some of you remember the Fairness Doctrine, adopted 60 years ago by the Federal Communications Commission.  It said that opposing points of view had to be presented on radio or TV in a way that was honest, equitable and balanced.  If not, said the FCC, a station could lose its license.  Ronald Reagan abolished the doctrine in 1987, but mention it today, and the Rush Limbaughs of the world still scream like martyrs being stretched on the rack.  These people earn millions inciting riots in the public mind.  If they were required to be fair they would soon be penniless out on the street, cup in hand.

RUSH:  Remember, he's one of the brightest guys on the left, and that's just absurd.  That is just insane. Inciting riots in the public mind? Riots in the public mind.  "If they," meaning if I, "were required to be fair, I would be penniless"? As though he sits there as a paragon of virtue on fairness? (laughing) We're watching a literal crackup! We're watching a literal crackup.  You know, I don't know how long it's going to go and I don't know if it's going to be completed but when these people get their unbridled power and things still don't go right... I mean Mr. Moyers, there's nothing I can do to stop anybody from doing anything.  I can't raise their taxes. I can't send anybody off to war. I can't tell them who their doctor is going to be.

I can't tell them what kind of car they have to drive. I have no power.  I have zilch, zero, nada.  Riots in the public mind?

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Dick in Kalamazoo, Michigan, great to have you on the program.  Hi.

CALLER:  Thank you, Rush.  I'm sorry, I'm still laughing at An Inconvenient Al.  That's classic.  You know, Moyers' comments really tell what the intellectual elite in this country think of the masses, and he used the term "public," not just your listeners.  And he sounds as if he resents the fact that somehow you're the only one able to, you know, to produce that "riot in the mind," and he'd like to do it in the other way. What really bothers me about this is the intellectual elite in this country sits in the White House.  Never having made a payroll, he actually thinks he has the ability to rewrite the entire free enterprise system that's evolved over 200 years and given us a standard of living that's just raced by every other country on the planet.

RUSH:  You talking about Obama there or Moyers?

CALLER:  Moyers first and Obama later --

RUSH:  Okay, Obama second.  Well, first as to Moyers. Moyers is simply jealous and frustrated that there is no longer a monopoly of media that he is an exclusive member of.  The genie is out of the bottle.  The horse is out of the barn.  The cat's in the litter box, whatever the phrase that you want to use is.  They used to have a monopoly on what you thought and what you knew and what you were told.  And they don't anymore.  They're spoiled little kids only they're adults, and since they don't have that monopoly, the people that have taken it away from them are the focus of their envy and anger.  And they are elites.  (interruption)  Who, Moyers?  The program observer is asking me why does Moyers always bring up how much money I earn?  It bugs him, too.  Look, they're very protective.  Folks, you don't understand the kind of power these people used to have, and they still have quite a bit, by the way.  But it's not a monopoly anymore.  All these people in the news business still wish they could be Walter Cronkite.

They still wish that they could have that much power.  They just see the fact that it's not there anymore.  And Moyers goes back to that era pretty much.  Plus he's a liberal, and as such, he's uninformed, he's closed-minded, very narrow-minded guy.  I mean most liberals are.  They don't let anything penetrate if it's outside of their little safety cocoon that they live in.  As for Obama, he has no respect for the private sector.  When you talk about rewriting the rules that have worked here for 200 years.  Exactly right, because he doesn't like it.  This is all about the redistribution of wealth and so many other things.  But it's purposeful, folks.  No one who is even slightly economically literate would be doing this and the American people are catching on.

This is Doug Bandow.  He's at Cato Institute.  But this is from the American Spectator blog.  "The president's poll numbers continue to slide.  Remember the 'stimulus' bill.  So do the American people -- and not fondly. Rasmussen: Confidence in the $787-billion economic stimulus plan proposed by President Obama and passed by Congress in February continues to fall.  A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that only 25% of US voters now say the stimulus plan has helped the economy. That's a six-point drop from a month ago.  Thirty-one percent (31%) say the stimulus actually hurt the economy, little changed from a month ago. However, this is the first poll showing that more voters believe the plan hurt rather than helped."

July has been a disastrous month.  And, by the way, here's another poll that shows Obama under 50%, and people want to say, "Well, yeah, but Rasmussen?  Rasmussen leans a little right, Rush."  Okay, Zogby.  If Rasmussen leans a little right -- and I'm not conceding that, this is what some people say -- then you have to admit Zogby leans a little left and they came up with the same number.  "Survey finds 51% believe US is on the wrong track.  Forty-one percent say the nation headed in the right direction.  And Obama's job approval has fallen to 48%."  So both Zogby and Rasmussen have the same number.  So there's something ticking out there, and we've got to make that tick get louder and louder and louder.  Fighting these people is a daily thing.

AARP is All About Big Government
Caller relates her frustrating discussion with AARP.
July 27, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Cincinnati.  Rosy, hi. It's great to have you with us.

CALLER:  Hey, Rush, how are you?

RUSH:  Just fine.  Thank you.

CALLER:  Good.  Good. Hey, I'm going to try to keep this cohesive.  I'm a little bit upset.  I just got off the phone earlier with the AARP.  And I called to express my concerns about their support of Obama care.  The response I got was there are only a couple of ideas with which they agree or that they would condone, and I said, "Well, how do you expect those ideas to remain if we're under government control? You know, do you trust them to do what they say they're going to do?"  And their response was, "Well, you know, there are a lot of myths about this going on, and you really have to pay attention to which news outlets are giving you correct information."  And I said, "Well, first of all I can discern for myself what this means.  But are you telling me that, you know, you think the government is going to do what it says it's going to do?"  She said, "Well, this is not socialized health care."

RUSH:  Well, wait a minute.  She denied a charge that you hadn't yet made.

CALLER:  Exactly!

RUSH:  So obviously they're very defensive about this at the AARP. Because the AARP, if they go along with this, is selling every member down the river.

CALLER:  Exactly, and she was very... She said, "Look, this is not socialized medicine because people would have the option of keeping their private insurance."

RUSH:  She's just ignorant.  That's not true.  It's been proven. With "constructive dialogue," the president's lying.

CALLER:  Well, I understand if... You know, whatever counterpoint that I gave her, she would feverishly type on the other end, and obviously a script would come up because it certainly sounded as if she was reading.

RUSH: Oh-ho-ho-ho! (laughing) Is that right?

CALLER:  Yeah.

RUSH:  (laughing)

CALLER:  And, you know, I said, "Well, you know, this doesn't make any sense.  How would you expect businesses to remain competitive," and, you know, they just really didn't have any good answers other than, "There are only a couple parts of this with which we agree."  You know, It's Business 101.  It upsets me that no one really protects those that they ostensibly lobby for and no one seems to do due diligence, and obviously someone's gotten to the head of AARP --

RUSH:  No!

CALLER: -- and no one completes a thought.  It doesn't make any sense, Rush.

RUSH:  Yes, it does.  You're just looking at it with the wrong context.  You're looking at it with the wrong premise.  It makes total sense when you understand that the AARP is no different than the National Association of Gals, no different from the NAALCP, no different from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. What do they all have in common?  They're liberals.  They love big government, and they are totally snowed by Obama, and they've got a lot of skin in the game with money that's going to get kicked back to them from stimulus plans and the health care plan and so forth.  So this health care plan is all about Obama taking care of his buddies in the unions and so forth, just like the stimulus was.  So you're expecting them... You have a lot of respect for the AARP, I guess. You're expecting them to be intellectually honest, so they analyze the plan and stand up for the people that are members of the AARP. That he isn't what they're about.

CALLER:  Well --

RUSH:  They're about advancing a big government agenda.

CALLER:  Can I tell you what was most telling?

RUSH:  Sure.

CALLER:  At the end it was, you know, she contradicted herself because I gave her the example of, "Look, if you got two businesses on the same street. You got a pizza maker here whose bottom line is he makes three bucks a pizza;  and, you know, another guy makes four bucks a pizza; and the difference between the bottom line there is that one keeps his private insurance for his employee and the other doesn't. So to remain competitive, you know, why not dump that private insurance and get on the bandwagon?"  And she said, "Well, you know, people do go to jobs for insurance. So why would the company with private insurance dump it for the government insurance?"

RUSH:  Well, I have to know what you said to that.

CALLER:  Well, I said, "Thank you for your time."  Clearly she's an idiot.

RUSH:  Well, obviously she's an idiot.  I was being restrained here --

CALLER: (giggling)

RUSH: -- trying to keep the dialogue constructive.

CALLER:  Oh, my goodness.  Well --

RUSH:  Clearly you were talking to a phone idiot.  You were talking to somebody, the purpose of which is to tell you that you're the idiot, that you don't know what you're talking about. That was her job.  That's why he's typing up your questions and, bam! On her computer screen pops the answer.  It's kind of the way Michael Eric Dyson does "first class intellectualism" on television shows.  He's got these answers programmed into his mind, and he gets triggered by a key word in the question, bam! He runs with it.  But the businesses will get rid of their private insurance is to off-load the cost.

CALLER:  Exactly.

RUSH:  So that their bottom line won't be hurt. That's one of the selling points Obama knows he's got.  That's why your private insurance is going to go down the drain and why you won't be able to keep the plan that you have.  Look, there's been an independent analysis here. The Heritage Foundation has done it. They had an outfit called the Lewin Group.  Eighty-three million Americans will lose their own private insurance plans, 83 million will be lopped off and have to go to the public option.  Rosy, I appreciate the call.  Thanks much.

Barney Frank to Business:  We're Not Here to Help You Make Money
The good old days are over for American business.
July 27, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  Barney Frank today made a speech at the National Press Club.  I have a total of five sound bites.  I just want to play two of them for you right now.  Here is the first.

FRANK (sped up):  I've had people come to us and complain, "Well, if you do that, I can't make any money."  The answer is that's not my job.  We're not here to help you make money.  We are here to help have a system in which you will make money as an incident of your providing funds to those who will use it productively.

RUSH:  Do you people get this?  I'll tell you what he just said.  He says he's got people coming up to him and complaining, "Well, if you do that," meaning this law, that piece of legislation, that tax, "I can't make any money."  And Barney says, "The answer is that's not our job.  We're not here to help you make money.  We're here to help have a system in which you will make money as an incident of your providing funds to those who use it productively."  (laughing)  I told you last Friday, one of the side benefits -- and I'm not gonna give a whole lot of weight here -- these people, when they have what they think is unchecked power, they will, most of them, start being very, very honest about who they are and what they want to do.  And this is a teachable moment.

By the way, I accused the president of stealing that phrase from me.  He used that phrase, teachable moment, when he went into the press conference on Friday afternoon, showed up as a surprise to say he's invited these guys to the White House to have a beer and threw Gates under the bus.  So here's Barney Frank.  In his district, every business probably has heard this from Barney Frank for years, and they still vote for him.  "It's not our job to help you make money.  We're not here to help you make money.  We are here to help have a system in which you will make money as an incident of your providing funds to those who use it productively."  You can interpret this two ways.  He's either talking about taxes or paying people who use the money you pay them productively that work for you.  But I don't think it's the latter.  I think he looks at business; you are there to provide funds, taxes to people in Washington to use it productively.  That's the purpose of a business.  I guarantee you that's the way Obama looks at it.  He looks at the whole private sector as revenue generation except he takes it.  Now, here's the next sound bite from Barney Frank.

FRANK (sped up):  Let me go back to my youth, and to the days when radio had a function other than the spewing of venom. And when fiction on the radio was labeled as fiction. [laughter] And there are people who in the financial community want, some older people here will catch the reference, they want to revert, return, they want to return to the thrilling days of yesteryear. [laughter] And let me make one amendment -- they want to return to the thrilling days of yesteryear when the loan arrangers will ride again. And in this view, the loan arrangers will be accompanied by their faithful and submissive companion, government. And that is not going to happen.

RUSH:  So now he's threatening the financial system, you know, your glory days are over, man, it ain't going to happen. Government is not going to be a submissive companion. We are going to be the fist and the shackles around your neck.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Every argument the left is advancing is being demonstrated to be intellectually baseless and wrong.  Obama's method of creating jobs. Obama's method of doing health care. The whole global warming hoax is now starting to be seen as such by more and more people.  Everything these people... This ought to be a giant national teaching moment. These people ought to never, ever be entrusted with power again -- and more and more people are going to realize that as they do more and more damage.  And the more Barney Frank goes out there and tells businesses, "It's not our job here in Congress to help you make money.  That's not our problem.  That's not our job."  I can't remember what he said.  Here, grab the sound bite, Ed.  It's number 26.  Barney Frank in a speech today at the National Press Club.

FRANK (sped up):  I've had people come to us and complain, "Well, if you do that, I can't make any money."  The answer is that's not my job.  We're not here to help you make money.  We are here to help have a system in which you will make money as an incident of your providing funds to those who will use it productively.

RUSH: So the more they keep talking like this, the more they keep doing Obama-type policies, the more people are gonna wake up and realize there is no hope (laughing) and the change is not what they thought it was going to be.  But all of these hoaxes, every one of these things. Like Global warming is a classic example. It's just the diving board.  It's just the springboard for them to advance another part of their leftist, big government, socialist agenda. It's what the eEconomic plans are all about, and what the health care plan is all about and it's what cap and tax is all about.  And, by the way, the ChiComs and the nation of India are telling us to go to hell.  Especially India.  ChiComs, whatever they want us to do, we'll do, because they own us.

But what the Chinese and the Indians are both saying this: "Look, we are not going to do this stupid carbon emission tax trick you want to put on us. You didn't have any restraints in your economy when it was growing, well, our economies are just now starting to grow, and we don't want to restrain the growth. If you want to kill your own economy, you go ahead, but you're not going to kill ours."  That's what the nation of India and the ChiComs are saying to Obama.  Meanwhile, George Bush is "hiding evidence" of global warming.  Now, China and India happen to be, if you believe this nonsense, two of the biggest contributors to climate change.  I frankly think it's all hooey (and more and more people do,) but if you're going to have an effort to "save the planet," and you're going to exempt two of the three largest polluters, but what's the point?

China is number one.  If you are going to exempt them, doesn't the whole intellectually and honestly? Doesn't the whole reasoning break down?  Which not about saving the planet, 'cause we're not.  If the number one polluter gets to still pollute, and if the Third World does not get to advance, then they gotta still, you know, live in malaria infested swamps.  Because they're not allowed to advance and grow.  And yet these are the people, the left, the liberals who tell us that they have all the compassion and they want people freed from whatever bondage they're in.  Yet when you listen to people like Barney Frank or Barack Obama, you understand that they got a different idea of bondage, and that's us in it. (sigh) Honestly. You know, I had a dream.  I had a dream that I was a slave building a sphinx in a desert that looked like Obama.  I woke up at four o'clock in the morning.

Interesting rants, but the man's mind is like an electric blender set on super-ultra-high speed with no “OFF” switch. He's got so many thoughts flying around in his head he can't seem to set them out in a non-manic fashion. Oh, and, “by the way”, Rush, please expunge “by the way” from your vocabulary. So many “by the ways” get mixed in (I counted 13 in the posted text), the original train of thought gets buried. Fewer distractions and asides make for a much more clear and concise monologue.

Maybe that's why Rush likes Mark "the master of asides" Davis to guest host for him so much.

Mom Jeans!

Allstar Game.
You don't play baseball but you took good aim.
And now I'm wondering how could this be?
I'm shocked to see Obama in mom jeans.

Mr. President, do you think that your money was well spent?
It looks to me just like you didn't care.
You went to lady's wear and picked up some mom jeans.

Maybe tonight we can go shop 'til we drop at the mall you and I.
We'll go ask the chap at the Gap, "Does my butt look too wide?"

Be a man.
Those mom jeans need some kind of bailout plan.
I watched you wind up and throw out the first pitch.
You looked like a bitch wearing those mom jeans.

Panty waste.
It looks just like your manhood's been misplaced.
And now I'm asking you -- I've got one thing to say -- shop at Targèt.
Get rid of those mom jeans.
