Charles Samuel, 50, appeared in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday. He is charged with one count each of murder, kidnapping to commit robbery, second-degree robbery and attempted first-degree automated teller machine robbery.
Samuel is accused of killing Lily Burk, 17, who was abducted from the Wilshire area Friday afternoon. Her body was found in her car early Saturday near Alameda and 5th streets downtown. The arraignment was continued.

Thanks for the pics. I say summary execution for the killer! To call these murderers wild animals is to give hyenas a bad name.

Who is not naive at 17?Neither of my daughters, who had Geneva Conventions ID cards issued by the USofA (Army Guard and Navy active) by the time they were 17.
But maybe her dad didn't instill any training or common sense. Or maybe she was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
However it works out, they better find the guy that did it, prove it, and kill him, in the name of Justice.

The system is to blame. We shouldn’t have people wandering the streets with dangerous mental conditions. They belong in sheltered care for their own good and ours. Only the ACLU can love results like this. We have hundreds of these people praying on one another and the general public in all the big cities, but especially those with good weather.
I feel sorry for them and their victims.

"Oaklands violence seems so be slowly seeping into Alameda. I used to live there."
Actually, this young woman was slain at 5th and Alemeda in Los Angeles. Not a terrible downtown area (depending on the time of day); a bustling commercial and produce area.
My first reaction is WHERE WERE HER PARENTS!!!!????? Why was a 17 year-old there?????
To: The Future 2012
One of Ron Dellum’s supporters, no doubt.
Why does communism/marxists and crime go so well together?
Oh, Dellums doesn’t believe in the death penalty, like his good comrades in the PC law schools in California, the ACLU, and the Democrat Party.
Hope the murderer suffers a long and painful death.
To: guitarplayer1953
That is what I heard on KFI 640am this evening on the Kennedy and Soots (sp?) show.
Apparently this poor girl was an innocent, naive girl helping the homeless. Her mother was the same. This murderer had her car keys and blood all over his clothes. He was in a half way house near her school in No. Hollywood.
Sad, SO sad....

If that were my child that he killed, I place my hands around his neck and squeeze. I apologize for that, but that’s how I feel. I can’t imagine what the family is going through and how they are going to have to sit in court, while this vermin pleads not guilty and the whole charade of a trial. The vermin is guaranteed his rights, I know, but I wish that a vermin that committed murder would stand up, admit it, and spare the family the agony that a trial would bring.

Since you seem to have all the bases covered on who is to blame, I’ll just say how sad it is for a lovely young girl to have lost her life, and leave it at that.
May God have mercy on her soul.

I have to disagree with you Snurple. I think there's much truth in what guitarplayer is saying. Upon hearing of this tragic story I made the following post two days ago:
What was a nice girl like her doing in such a terrible neighborhood? When I was a teenager my father drove my sister and I around to some of the bad neighborhoods (high crime rates) in the area in which we lived. Knowing my father we were probably armed at the time but I didn't know it them. He did this to show us where NEVER to drive or go. He did this shortly in advance of both of us getting a driver's license. He tried hard to make a point that there were very dangerous neighborhoods and we should stay away from them if we wanted in increase our chances of staying alive. This was a good lesson and we survived. I get the impression that many parents don't go through this exercise with their children. I also believe liberal parents don't warm their children of the dangers out there due to their PC nature.
This girl was probably a naive fool who thought she was helping people. She wasn't street smart probably. That's the problem. Many of these homeless street people are in fact hardened criminals. Just ask any police officer. They will give you the scoop.
Our compassion will not bring this young girl Lily Burk back to life. It really means little or nothing. It may make you feel better but the ONLY good that can come out of this is to teach our young girls (and guys) to be extremely careful when dealing with street people. Many if not most are EXTREMELY dangerous. My father and older brother taught this to me and my sister. It has served us well. Dealing with the homeless is best left to the professional people and not some 17 year old girl.
That said; RIP Lily.

Yes stupidity did kill this young girl but it was the stupidity of her mother and father (if he was in the picture).
Guitarplayer you and I seem to be on the same page when it comes to recognizing people who just might be dangerous. I have a sixth sense about it. It has kept me out of a lot of trouble. You are probably the same in this regard.

Let’s compare Jim Crow and lynchings body count to what we have endured the past 40 years.
This is exponentially greater.
and don’t try to sell me that BS that black on white crime ain’t racial
as one who’s lived in several times and witnessed far more you bet yer sweet ass it most cetainly is
and Obama and Gates and the rest of the race baiters have blood on the hands same as Tom Metzger would with his little skinheads
will whites and other victims of enedemic black predation ever wake up
btw...the “non racial” trial of one of the Knoxville savages is underway...i think the DA is asking for death penalty not that TN gets in a hurry anyhow

Who is not naive at 17? Being raised in Jackson Mississippi I was not naive about black violence but it was far far far less of an issue then. They still feared us down there and they simply behaved better, their families were more intact and more still believed in God and so forth but more importantly the hatred for whitey was rare and not yet institutionalized at least in the cotton states

What die of stupidity? I hardly think so. I’ve lived long enough to of learned the savagery of the human animal. And I’m not dumb enough to just roll over like this poor child was probably told in a hostile situation just give them your keys, give them your wallet. I say f that I’ll pull out my legal handgun and they will be the ones who were stupid enough to tangle with me.

I also had a driver's license at 16 and I also drove to work. I also had a job where I worked late when I was 17. But I knew which neighborhoods to NOT drive through (particularly at night). I would go out of my way to avoid certain places if you get my drift. Hey I sometimes might have used a little more gas in driving around certain neighborhoods but I stayed safe.

Don't you see what Guitarplayer and I are saying. No we are the good guys. We hate to see these young kids hurt or killed. 17 year old girls are kids. Let's be frank. They are not adults. If you want a 17 year old to do some charity, there are many safe ways for this to happen. Dealing with homeless street people is NOT one of those ways.
