Voinovich Should Learn Manners from Southern Gentleman Sen. DeMint
Right Ohio Blog ^ | July 29, 2009 | Matt @ Right Ohio

The fallout from Senator Voinovich insulting conservative Senators DeMint and Coburn has been huge, echoing throughout the blogosphere and cable news.

In response, Senator DeMint was far more gracious and polite about Ohio’s senile Senator than he had to be. What a classy guy:

And so Wolf Blitzer asked DeMint about it on CNN this afternoon: “I wonder what you want to say to Sen. George Voinovich,” Blitzer asked.

Said DeMint: “Well, he is apparently very frustrated. He has decided not to run again. And I don’t mind him taking out his frustrations on me.

“But the fact is, if you look at the southerners, a lot of our elected leadership, like Lamar Alexander, John Cornyn, I mean, these folks are southerners and we’ve got probably the most constructive working members of the Senate, Johnny Isakson, Saxby Chambliss.

“You look at Richard Burr, these are all contributing people. They’re certainly not hurting the party right now. But, Wolf, the point I’ve been trying to make is Maine doesn’t have to be like South Carolina or like California.

If Senator Voinovich was really complaining about too many Southererns in the GOP, he should instead be more concerned about the lack of non-Southerners. But Voinovich’s insulting comments towards two men of principle, plus his support for bailouts & earmarks, opposition to tax cuts, and setting the groundwork for Ohio’s 2006 Bureau of Worker’s compensation scandals doesn’t exactly help grow the party’s numbers.

Go away, George!

Voinovich has been utterly worthless ever since he took statewide office. I cannot wait for this weaselly RINO POS to retire!

He can’t retire soon enough for me. Though I’m concerned about Portman’s prospects for winning his seat.

Remember, Voinovich was the ‘tard who said he was for the Fairness Doctrine “because he believed in fairness”.

His diatribe against De Mint and Cornyn was disgraceful and unjustified. Voinovich has been a huge disappointment for this country and for the GOP.

Grow some nuts and come to down to the real heart of the South and then spew that garbage, Voinovich.

Yep. And before that, as Guv here, he cried while signing a bill to cut welfare!

Awwww... less Gubmint Cheese for freeloaders. So sad for Georgie...

The foundation of his career was the death of his young daughter (Molly, I think. Traffic accident or some such thing).

That and some lucky timing.

He parlayed both of them into a win as the mayor of Cleveland (after the debacle that was (is) Kucinich).

That would be followed by an entertaining @ss-kicking, for sure!

"Remember when the putz actually CRIED during John Bolton’s confirmation hearing? What an embarrASSment."

I remember it well. I'm in Ohio and I can't wait for this senile POS to retire.

He's a constant embarassment to Ohioans.

And Voinovich doesn't like Demint because he's actually a Conservative, not because he's from the South.

It's time for crybaby, senile George to go. You cried for em George, now go spend time with your granchildren.

Though I think even they are beyond your intellectual level these days.

Wasn't that the interview where Sean Hannity took him to the 'shed on national TV? lol!

I remember back when he was mayor of Cleveland, and the local Democrats were trying to get an “assault weapons” ban passed for Cleveland.

Gun owners and Constitutionalists were BEGGING the local GOP to help them with this issue.

The issue was passed by the Democrap-controlled city council, and the only thing standing in their way was a veto from then mayor Voinevich.

He’s always been a RINO POS.

Voinevich cut a deal with City Council and “went out of town” for a few days when the bill went through, passing the reins of the city to Council President (and TEMPORARY MAYOR)George Forbes signed it into law, in Voinevich’s “absence”.

Wow, that's before I was even aware of him. Somehow, I guess I've always been suspicious of Voino as a "Cleveland Republican."

I mean, anyone who knows what a 'Rat cesspool Cleveland is should know that whatever excuse for a "Republican" who can get elected there must be pretty mushy and left-leaning.

OK, but at least there haven’t been any murders in Cleveland since, right?

He's senile and has been for a number of years. I doubt he has a clue when it comes to the healthcare bill.

“mentally disturbed” seems to be a prerequite for becoming Mayor of Cleveland (see Kucinich, Dennis)

Voinovich was a paper pusher as governor of Ohio and remains one as a senator.

Hiya Tony.

I haven’t been gone long enough from Ohio to forget the saying, “Voinovich you son of a .....”. Guess it still applies.

I told ya you should come down here to get away from those yankees. :-)

Hugs.
