Members of the activist homosexual community have decided to advance their cultural revolution, in spite of the rights of parents, by using children and the willing administration in some school systems. The Pacific Justice Institute is representing the parents in that area, free of charge. Rather than deal with the specific incident, I want to address the broader problem, the growing failure in some public school districts to respect parental rights. I also want to affirm the Catholic teaching on the primary role of parents in the lives of their children and in education. The Church is in favor of parental choice. Let me explain.
Parents are the first teachers of their children. The family is the first school. To support "Parental Choice in Education" is to affirm that Parents should be able to make the choice of how to extend their own teaching mission by choosing a school for their children outside of the home. It is to support their right to participate in curriculum development. The teaching of the Catholic Church on this issue is crystal clear. The family is the first cell of society, the first church, first government, first school, first hospital, first economy, and the first mediating institution of society. That teaching is at the heart of Catholic Social Thought. It should also lay the foundation for building a truly just public policy in the area of education.

While this is a Catholic parents thread, I believe that all who care about quality education will approve of it.
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Ping.
My daughter taught math at a Catholic K-8 school in Texas. ALL the teachers and the principal ( every one) voted for Obama. And...They took every possible opportunity to show the students how thrilled they were that this partial birth supporting man was now president.
My daughter ( who is not Catholic) was disgusted. I am, too. Evidently, the teachers and principal at this Catholic school teach the children to worship Karl Marx rather than God.
Moral:
Not all Catholic schools are created equal. Buyer beware!
In my town, the public schools are very concerned about catering to parents — Why is that? Because the well-educated parents in my town can afford to send their children to private or parochial schools if they so choose.
Parents who are dependent on public schools whose administrators feel that they do not have to cater to the wishes of the parents (the taxpayers after all) must enroll their chidren in those schools, which naturally have the upper hand.
You make a good point. We can not afford to be disengaged to or delude ourselves. Some of our greatest enemies are within are within our churches, are within our schools, are there to undermine the very foundations of decency and faith.
That proves the words in Revelation, even the elect will be deceived in the last days. If Catholics voting for Obama isn’t deception, I don’t know what is.
I think you are referring to when Jesus was talking about the end times.
Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Note the very important phrase "if it were possible". This means that it is not possible for the elect to be deceived.
Those who voted for obama are not Christians or Catholics (making the assumption that anyone who is counted as part of the Catholic church must also be Christian). You cannot be pro-abortion, pro-homosexual and Christian. Therefore you cannot be democrat and Christian.
I stand corrected on the Scripture. Sadly, you are right. That sword has already divided my family...me on one side and the rest of them on the other. They call themselves Catholic, but what they really are is deceived.
Hey! I've got that same t-shirt!
