Field Report from Nikki Tsongas' teleconference on socialized medicine
Maneesh (Vanity)

Posted on 07/29/2009 7:52:41 PM PDT by Maneesh

I was on Nikki Tsongas' teleconference on health care tonight and here is field report. She is is essentially a more likeable version of Nancy Pelosi and tuns unopposed in MA but is still a coward in dealing with dissent. After she went through her talking points she opened it up for questions and only the most liberal ones were allowed on. You had a woman whining about her son who is making $30,000 / yr and what will the plan do to give him coverage. Another woman essentially endorsed covering illegal immigrants because they are here anyways and it is the humane thing to do. Another brain dead caller said that we was concerned that the insurance companies would drive the public option out of business so what could she do to ensure that the public option survived because he wanted that over his private insurance. It is deeply concerning to me that so many people essentially look to the govt as the answer to their life's problems and have no sesne of shame or pride left in demanding that the govt take care of them. One woman actually asked if the plan would pay for her flu shots because it is not fair that she has to pay for them !

Not one dissenting view was allowed to come on so of course I was not allowed on by the screener. Her answers clearly displayed her preference for govt running everything and she trashed doctors and insurance companies and said that our care is no better than Western Europe and we pay a lot more. MA is of course a lost cause so it is up to you freepers in the real America down South to give your congresspeople hell when they came back home in August and derail this disaster.

Tsongas runs unopposed in MA and was still a complete coward in not allowing one opposing viewpont on the call. I always thought she follows orders from Pelosi and spoke the party line completely with no independent thought. I am ashamed to have her as my representative but I live in a district where there is no such thing as the Republican Party.

Yeah, she is a coward. She won’t answer any question she doesn’t want to take. What you need to do is to pronounce her name as Tax-on-Gas (and everything else) and to remind people that she has no experience other than being Paul Tax-on-Gas’ widow.

I suspect Jim Ogonowski might take exception to your “unopposed” comment but otherwise, Nikki sounds like a typical Mass RAT. Hey, how is that state public option doing for y’all up there?

Ogonowski did put up a spirited fight in 2007 but in 2008 she ran unopposed and will run unopposed in 2010 which was the reason for my statement. Amazingly despite the financial debacle of Romneycare she held it up as an example of a great system. She also praised medicare as an example of a great and well run govt program. The woman is delusional but can afford to actually say what she believes because there are no political consequences.

She was an assistant dean of students at a community college?

Another wife inherits her husband's political career.

It shows whenever she speaks, no independent thought but just reciting the party line. Complete believer in bog govt with no clue about the real world and the economy runs and so many people think that just because she is in Congress she is the expert on health care and energy and global warming ! If she was in the real America down south she would have been thrown out of office but in the People’s Republic of MA you have a D after your name and you win automatically.

Being it is Tsongas, no surprise!! Even less a surprise is she took over her hubby’s seat, and is picking up where he left off.

Ogonowski came within a few points of beating her. Very impressive(and very rare) for MA.

Ogonowski did put up a good fight and I campaigned for him. There are pockets of conservatives in the 5th district but Lowell and Lawrence overwhelm them and like everywhere else in MA the person with a D after their name wins. You would think that she could afford to handle one dissenting question given the fact that she runs unopposed. I swear there are so many voters in MA that just need to hear Bush’s fault and will vote for the democrat with those 2 words alone. I was screaming at the phone listening to the absolute moonbat callers asking her if the plan would pay for their flu shot.

Can you friggin buy your own $20 flu shot for god’s sake !!

You run. She is a ditz. Sympathy vote got her in. Plus the control from the Dem.
Party who has Mass. under control
Times have changed you could make a run now, better chance now than it has been in year’s

I like your optimism and really wish it were true. As someone that lives here I can tell you that the state has got even more liberal recently. Just last November 70% voted against a ballot question to repeal the state income tax and as a result sales tax went up 25% with barely a protest. Gas tax is about to go up and so are the tolls. And yet the candidate with a D after their name wins automatically. I don’t blame the politicians as much, clearly a majority of the voters support such moonbat policies.

It would be tough but the entire State of Mass. is not liberal. What is her district?

Either A) Run as Republican yourself (or your friends/family), 2) Work for the Republican, or B) Since you’re in an extremely liberal enclave: Support an Indepdent Conservative Candidate, C) Failing that find the mose conservative (and I don’t like this word, but it’s better than a libera- moderate) Democrat and support them in a (Hopefully) tough primary for her..!@just a thought..!

I'll trade you. I have Sheila Jackson-Lee, the self-consequent camera hog and "Queen of the Nile", whose district, in 1992, gave 75% of its votes to a dope-smoking, draft-dodging rapist over a decorated WW II veteran and sitting President of the United States who had just won a war against an odious military dictator.

Touche, perhaps I was out of line. Sheila Jackson Lee and Nancy Pelosi would be admittedly worse. I am surrounded by a sea of blue that I forget sometimes that there are individual congresspeople that are worse than Tsongas even though as a state MA is by far the most biased democrat run plantation in the union.

Ain’t life grand here? I take it you’re close enough to NH to avoid the sales tax....

Yes I am. My rule is that anything over $100 I go to NH (I am only 6 miles from the border). The retailers in my town are going to be devastated by this sales tax increase and actually the local rep voted against the increase. However Boston, Cambridge and Lowell always overwhelm any pockets of sanity in the state.

I’m not that close so purchases over $300 will be conducted in NH for me....

Perhaps I could set up a shopping service for people in the middle of the state. I could be the middleman and charge 2% instead of the 6.25% they would pay otherwise. I want the MA state revenue from sales tax to go down so that they realize the folly of static analysis and assuming that consumers will not change their behavior if you increase taxes ! But knowing the libs here they will call for a further increase in sales tax to make up for the revenue shortfall. Economic illiteracy is the biggest root cause of liberalism.
