TOLEDO, Ohio (Reuters) - Hope and jobs are in short supply in Ohio eight months after President Barack Obama won the recession-battered state in the 2008 election with promises of a better future.
"People were looking for a savior to get us out of this mess and that's why they voted for Obama," said Jeff Fravor, 55, a retired train conductor on his way to breakfast on the outskirts of Toledo.
"I've nothing against Obama personally, but he's new to the job and 'hope' won't fix this mess."

Regardless of the tough situation Ohioans find themselves in, plenty showed up to be a backdrop for Obambi on his last visit so I don’t feel too sorry for them. The only good thing out of Ohio latlely is Ken Blackwell... a blip on the overall sad political decisions of Ohio voters - sorry to be harsh...
It took Jimmy Carter to give us Ronald Regan, this time around we will get a truly Conservative back in office, and she will be great.
Things are really starting to show up as we talked about a few years ago. See the story above.
The Audacity of a Dope.
I don’t feel sorry for anyone that voted “That One”.
Wanted an easy fix, did ya? Wanted that change that the hated GW Bush couldn’t give you? Put your hope in a windbag, did you? You should have thought of the things you mentioned i.e. new to the job before you pulled the lever. Buy the way, every President is new to the job their first term. He is a community organizer and not up to the job. He promised things half of the country swallowed - shame on you! Think next time you VOTE!!!
AMEN!!!!
And in fainess to Obama’s critics, he did promise improvement. This is from what Fox news calls his “Democratic Nomination Victory Speech”:
” ...Because if we are willing to work for it, and fight for it, and believe in it, then I am absolutely certain that, generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless...
(APPLAUSE)
... this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal...
(APPLAUSE)
... this was the moment when we ended a war, and secured our nation, and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth.”
How soon can Sarah Palin get to Ohio? Time is of the essence.
Don’t count on it
“It took Jimmy Carter to give us Ronald Regan, this time around we will get a truly Conservative back in office, and she will be great.”
I truly wish it were so, but you know that the socialist propaganda complex will unite as one and do everything in their power to prevent. Legal or illegal means will be employed, or as Chancellor Palpatine said “I will make it legal.”
Bravo!
2. Change
3. Stimulate
4. Profit
Toledo is just Michigan with Buckeye fans....
Only good thing about McCain losing is that a lot of folks, mostly independents I think, are seeing what a far left agenda will do and many of them don’t like it. So this might cause a backlash and perhaps a Republican resurgence. Not that our party necessarily offers the best leadership either. But if McCain were president and things kept going downhill, it is conservatives who would have felt the sting.
48% approval and no viable alternative yet on the horizon...hmmm...wait until folks understand that stimmulus jobs are a week with a shovel then back to the streets...hmmm...the quote of the day should become the Republicans’ 2010 bumper sticker: “Hope won’t fix this mess!”
Carter didn't beget Reagan. Reagan begat Reagan. He was a figure on the national political scene going back to the '64 presidential campaign. What we have to realize is that Reagan is gone and won't be coming back. I don't see a Reagan waiting in the wings for 2012 (no, Palin isn't Reagan). Until there is, I really, really fear that the only one waiting in the wings in 2012 will be either Obombah or Hillary. Either one will be the sure end of the Republic as we know it.
Agreed. But for the dishonest media and academia, the left would be toast.
