The news out of Vietnam demonstrates a reality which few acknowledge these days when we mistakenly think we have become so “enlightened”, the existence of evil. It demands immediate global responsive action. There is a new “Vietnam War” underway. The enemies of life, freedom and true liberation are killing Catholic priests in Vietnam!
The leftover remnant of the discredited and inhuman ideology of Maoism is now turning its ire against what has always been its greatest enemy, the only true humanism, the Christian faith. The fullness of that Christian faith, with the only systematic social development of the implications of that new and true humanism which can inform a new social movement, is the Catholic faith. That is why the denizens of death and the carriers of such a discredited ideology as Marxism have decided to strike against the Catholic Church by striking its shepherds and trying to scatter the sheep. (Zech 13:7)
Old Marxists never die, they just recreate themselves. Claiming, as their founders did, that the new man (or new woman) can somehow be created through a Statist manipulation of the political and economic order, they keep morphing into new expressions and pushing their old lies. In an age which has become what Pope Benedict rightly labeled a “dictatorship of relativism”, rejecting all truth claims, they are finding traction once again.
Yet, in Vietnam, they have not changed all that much in their message or their means. Marxism, and its evil clone, the anti-life, anti-freedom and anti-human ideology of the cultural revolution of the former tyrant, the Chairman Mao Zedong, continue to enforce their agenda through State sponsored violence. Their greatest enemy is still the only champion of true freedom, the Catholic Church and the message which she proclaims of true human liberation in Jesus Christ.

With cathedrals in Saigon, Danang and Hanoi, and smaller churches up and down the coast at least...and with western tourism adding significantly to their economy, one would think the Vietnamese would take better care of the image they now project to the world.
I hope they don’t wreck a yet beautiful country.
This has been going on and it’s not just Catholics, they’ve bulldozed small independent Christian churches, welded a pastor and his wife in their own home by welding bars across doors, windows, they were imprisoned for several months, other persecutions.
Oh but see, as one Left wing journalist said, “We’re at peace with Vietnam now”. Sure buddy, remember the Kamer Rouge? And then there’s always Pol Pot in Cambodia, such nice folks.
And then there’s Socialist Democrat party in the USSA, tigers of the same stripe as it were...
Religious freedom was making great progress in S. VN. I made several visits and saw lots of new Churches and crosses in a lot of places. It seemed that the commies had lightened up on the persecution. This maybe a limited warning to not go to far.
It won’t even be on Zero’s radar screen. He will be happy that VN is not straying to far from communism and socialism.
This article includes a paragraph about some who have recently been arrested and then held for trial. It doesn’t include the information on the priests who were killed.
That is probably in an earlier article.
Can you please provide me with a link? Having just returned from Vietnam in March, after a trip there with reps from my denomination, I know that they would be EXTREMELY interested in this information. I would sincerely appreciate your help. Thanks.

I’ve been there a few times as well, huge Catholic cathedral in Hanoi, masses, etc. Never heard of any such abuse of Catholics there.
