Posted on 07/30/2009 7:32:23 PM PDT by Maelstorm
Jeremy was refused entry to his high school prom when he arrived in a gown and makeup instead of a tuxedo.
KUAM, Guams news network, reports that officials at George Washington High School in Guam refunded the money Jeremy spent for a prom ticket, but are unsympathetic about the $400 he spent on clothing and other items, and will not issue him the apology that he wants for being unable to attend the prom.
Jeremy claims that he was discriminated against when he was denied entry.
I said, Where does it state in this rule in this paper that theres no cross-dressing, no individualism and no opposite genders? It doesn't say anything. So I have a case right here. And thats wrong, he said, as quoted by KUAM.
In an earlier report, Jeremy claims that girls were being allowed into the prom in tuxes, and that he was told that those girls were wearing "female tuxes."
George Washington High School has no policy regarding transgender students (Jeremy has also identified himself as gay), and the principal, Begona Flores, says that she will follow such a policy if it is drafted, but has no intention of initiating a policy because it goes against her beliefs.
Jeremy has apparently dressed in male clothing and expressed his gender as male in school, so school personnel were not unreasonably surprised when he arrived at the prom in a gown.
However, the fact that no policy was in place suggests that Jeremy should have been allowed to attend, and a reasonable policy would accommodate trans students as well as lesbian, gay, and bisexual students.
Dress codes can be a major problem for trans students and for adult trans people in the workplace. While, ideally, a dress code for school or work should not be gender specific, we have not yet reached that place as a society.
But young people are transgressing those gender norms that society has established, and by pushing that envelope, they will eventually cause those necessary changes to be made.
In the meantime, many LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) youth organizations have established their own proms, to allow LGBT youth to bring the date of their choice, to wear the clothing of their choice, and to experience a prom that they can enjoy on their own terms, rather than one that has http://www.examiner.com/x-12237-Transgender-Issues-Examiner~y2009m7d30-Transgender-student-turned-away-from-promestablished around heterosexual partnerships and specific gender norms.
These types of events for youth are important in the development of positive self-esteem and self-worth, internal characteristics that all youth should be equally entitled to possess.
I guess I’m old school. I can’t think of anything that would f*** up my prom night more than seeing a guy in a dress. Sorry for this outburst of honesty....
And he was right, wasn't he?
Is there a rule against self-mockery for proms? I wasn’t aware of one.
.....will not issue him the apology that he wants for being unable to attend the prom
Why should they apologize just because someone who can’t follow the dress code?
Most ticketed events allow for the venue to kick out a ticket holder provided that the purchase price of the ticket is refunded. In a sane world, a lawsuit would be laughed out of court.
“So I have a case right here.”
That should tell you right there why he did what he did. Wonder how much money he’ll get.
I hope none.
They save dhim from getting his @ss kicked. He should thank them.
Yep. It’s a prom, not a freak show.
Schoolchildren shouldn’t be... oh, wait a minute. That’s proM, not proN. On the other hand...
I wonder how much trial lawyers are getting for “positive self-esteem and self-worth” cases these days?
It’s really sad that the article states that someone is entitled to self-esteem and self-worth. As if someone can give it to you or take it away? I don’t get it.
There was no dress code
Normal women don’t dress this poorly.
There is normally a lot of fine print on concert tickets and the like that effectively make it a contract. Probably no such luck with prom tickets. I have a feeling the school district will be paying to get the nuisance suit to go away.
Jeremy is a perfect candidate for *Gender re assignment surgery*
Call Dr. Invertedpenis!
Wow - some common sense in a school - shocking
What restroom do those sick f@@@s use when they go out in public, mens or ladies?
You were ahead of me by 1 minute 44 seconds.
Especially since Guam adopted the entire criminal and civil codes of California, except for changes made by the Guam legislature.
Older Guamanians are really conservative but many of the younger ones only respect the big government nanny state.

Never seen a chomorran queer. I guess there is a first time for everything.
(most likely a chomorran who wants to upset his “parent”.)
This story says so much about the emasculation of our society by popular culture. This is a young man and no amount of ‘let’s pretend’ or ‘dressing up’ or surgical mutilation will change that fact: he is a young man and needs to be counseled to accept that fact.
The tragic story which circulated widely some months ago about the so-called “pregnant man” is another example. This was not a ‘man’ by any stretch of the imagination but a surgically mutilated young woman in need of a lot of serious counseling which I sincerely hope she gets. This woman has had her life seriously complicated by idealogues willing to lie to her to assuage her transgender delusions and sadly use her to promote their political agenda. I hope she gets the help she needs.
Hey! The 70’s chicks looked Very normal! :)P
Watch it!!! Some of my favorite picture ofLadyWolf are from that time frame. Barrel curls and blue eyeshadow will never die!
GUILTY! Mostly of stupidity and narcissism, but also of butt-ugliness!
He does need help. So many homosexuals do. There are a few that are very private. Jodi Foster is one. Sadly though the prevalent group of the sexually peculiar are in your face and have big issues with exhibitionism and an inordinate number report being molested but you know that has nothing to do with it. It didn’t matter that their mommi encouraged them to embrace their feminine side or encouraged hatred of their father and of men. No none of that stuff matters. Not even if they are molested by older men as children.
It certainly didn’t matter to Rock Hudson, the gay classic icon hated his father who abandoned him and his mother and his step father who beat him. It didn’t matter that he was molested when he was 9 repeatedly by an older man. Sure fits the old “dis-proven” theories perfectly. Yet I bet most don’t know the back story on Hudson or on so many of Homosexuals who have the dark scar of molestation on their lives.
What is particularly disturbing is that by teaching homosexuals whose gender confusion is related to molestation to be proud ultimately encourages them to not only accept the events and the resultant feelings of their sexual abuse but to see those things as normal. This is especially dangerous because it can only produce a mindset that sees molestation as a natural component of sex. Studies have shown that men who are abused are already more likely to act out in abuse themselves.
We have a culture that is increasingly in denial.
Here is a good book:
Thank you, two of my favorite pictures of my wife (and high school sweetheart) were of her in some knee-high, stripped socks, short softball shorts, a tight softball jersey and some big Farrah Fawcett hair!
Man, she was hot then and NOW!
specific gender norms.
Another example of the socialist lexicon.
No reason to read any farther, that’s why they put it as the last word.
Get him a kilt? He came dressed up as a girl not a boy in a boy style dress if there is such a thing. I don’t care if it is fair. He could have enjoyed the Prom perfectly well but chose to make his peculiar sexual hangup an issue.
Dude DON’T look a lady...............
Jeremy will have many more serious problems than not being able to wear his dress to the prom.
Small, private prom groups—not the school sponsored ones would be a good idea.
Let’s say he had came in full leather get up. There is no need to blur the issue. He came dressed as a girl and knew what the reaction would be. He came dressed inappropriately and he was denied access. It is refreshing that he was denied it is the appropriate response of rational school officials. Boys shouldn’t have to be told that they can not come to proms as if the are girls.
You know what gets me is the level of absolute stupidity that is involved in the “self esteem” crap. You got to let Johnny dress up like a girl and paint his nails pink or else you will damage his self esteem. It is ignorant. Just because someone sets an irrational set of parameters that defines “their esteem” doesn’t mean they should be indulged. It is their thinking that hurts their self esteem. It is a sign of mental illness that they first put themselves in positions that they know will gain them ridicule or exclusion and then they behave as if they expected any different.
Suppose I think I need to were barebutt chaps in public to allow my self expression and thus be happy and have high self esteem? It is ridiculous and the fact that stupid infantile ideas like this are indulged by the subnormal class of degenerates is not only morally repugnant but intellectually bankrupt. One doesn’t have to be religious in any way to understand that such silliness is without merit and should be discouraged.
I was told off by a neighbor because everytime she would mention the pregnant “man” I would point out to her that she was a woman. She would just go off...”He’s had hormones, he lives as a man, blah, blah, blah.” Really? If she could show proof of a ‘y’ chromosone, I might be impressed.
I love the creamy yellow dress, and the fancy up-do too.
Assuming you are indeed the lady in the pictures, I find the solo picture quite fetching...
I tend to agree it got a bit tiresome when every girl over 12 seemed to wear a powder blue shadow, but on the right eyes, its still stunning...like those of LadyWolf.
LOL! Now that's funny!
