Jon Stewart clarifies the "birther" movement logic (Barf)
youtube ^

Posted on 07/31/2009 8:15:23 AM PDT by Maceman

Here's Jon Stewart's attempt to debunk the so-called "birther" movement.

I must say, I'm not impressed.

P.S. For the record, I am agnostic on the question of whether or not Obama is a natural-born citizen, but I do think there are some very interesting questions that need to be answered. Needless to say, I don't think Jon Stewart comes anywhere near having anything useful to say on this subject, based on this video.

Also, if anyone has a link to the full video (this one appears to be an excerpt presented by Chris Matthews), please feel free to post the link.

Nothing to clarify. It's a simple thing to put to rest. I have a passport and a birth certificate. I can produce them at my house in a matter of minutes. I have not spent a million dollars to either acquire them...or to hide them.

This is not a unreasonable thing to ask for since being a "natural born citizen" of the US is a constitutional requirement for the job of President. It's not hateful, and it's not racist.

Proving that you are should be an honor.

Yet Obama cannot and will not produce either. Why?

The thing to remember is this. If we get him to release it and he proves us wrong, we will have still won by forcing his hand. That gives us the opening to go after other documents.

It's not hateful, and it's not racist.

Remember, when a leftist raises the "race shield", he has admitted that he has no defense to your argument. Treat any such utterances accordingly.

Uh, no... Then conservatives look like frickin’ idiots, and no-one pays any attention to when there’s a real scandal. Didn’t anyone learn anything from the Clinton administration?

Why? To actually get the truthful answer to this, you probably have to ask him, not everyone else.

I've always assumed
the Left's funding the birthers.
They learned the value

of having the Right
shotgun itself in the foot
again and again.

Stewart’s inane and irrational ramblings are senseless. His attempt at humor here is a complete failure. The fact remains that Obama has not produced his birth certificate.

Does anyone here actually think Jon Stewart is funny?

I would really like to know.
And If so, I would like to know what people, other than hate filled lefties, see in him.

I have seen numerous clips of his schtick. I have even tried to watch his show a few times to see what all the ruckus is about. I just don’t see where the humor lies.
It seems to me that he uses a sledgehammer to make social and political commentary in place of wit, subtlety and satire.

Most of his commentary that others call humor seems to be mean spirited jabs at people and ideas he doesn’t care for. And he definitely shows a preference for ranking hard on conservatives, republicans and traditionalists while treating democrats and other leftists with kid gloves.

Even when he does make a fairly good joke it is ruined for me by his underlying animosity and bias.

The only nice thing
I'd ever say about him
is he went after

the business press types *
who tap danced and waved their hands
as businesses tanked.

--------------------------------------------------------

* "If I only followed CNBC's advice," Stewart said
then, "I'd have a million dollars today -- provided
I'd started with $100 million."
