"MI5 targeted by Islamic extremists in rushed recruitment drive after July 2005 attacks on London"

SNIPPET: "MI5 is facing questions over whether it recruited up to six al Qaeda sympathisers in the rush to find Islamic recruits in the wake of the worst terrorist attacks on mainland Britain for a generation."

SNIPPET: "In 2007 it emerged that up to eight police officers and civilian staff were suspected of links to extremist groups including al-Qaeda. Some are even believed to have attended terror training camps in Pakistan or Afghanistan.

Their names featured on a secret list of alleged radicals said to be working in the Metropolitan and other forces.

The dossier was drawn up with the help of MI5 amid fears that individuals linked to Islamic extremism are taking advantage of police attempts to increase the proportion of ethnic staff."

attempts to increase the proportion of ethnic staff

Not language skills, not merit, but to increase the proportion of ethnic staff - isn't that just asking for trouble.

Are Leftist ideas comprised mainly of thinking without morality or morality without thinking? This is dangrously stupid, but it happens even in smart, urban locations like Chicago. Hmmmmm...

Saw an author on Cspan 2 today plugging his book, Triple Cross. It’s about how most of our government agencies missed the plots going on right under their noses from the 1980s on. The guy puts equal blame on both parties and on some incompetent agents within the FBI, etc. He also notes the ones who tried their best, though. He is especially critical of events during the Clinton administration, such as when Gorelick split the mission of the FBI in two, effectively limiting its ability to share information.

I don’t know why we think our government is capable of protecting us when it fails time and again.

The book TV show is going to be repeated this evening on cspan 2 and probably in the wee hours of the morning.

I don't know why they think we should keep paying them since they are incapable of, or uninterested in, their job.
