Latinos say they also face racial profiling by police
CNN ^ | July 31, 2009

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Many Latinos say they know how Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates felt during a recent arrest because they believe police often racially profile Hispanics, too.

Gates, a noted African-American scholar, has said he was arrested at his home in large part because of his race. Police say he became disorderly when asked for identification after a report of a possible break-in.

"Professor Gates' case resonates with us because he is a prominent academic at a very prominent institution, but it is a reality that occurs on these streets every day," said Vicente Alba-Panama of the National Congress for Puerto Rican Rights.

Only if you do when stopped by a Black Officer. Or an Asian Officer.
Or claim sexism if stopped by a Female Officer.
Then when a WHITE OFFICER stops you — JUST CLAIM HE IS STOPPING YOU TO GET HIS ‘AVERAGE’ BACK IN LINE.

If we ALL can learn (and use) the BLAME GAME, the country will be a much more chaotic place and we can continue to let the important stuff stay uncovered.

WHAT A PLAN....

God please just GET OVER IT!!!

I know of a "white guy" that was singled out by a "white" town cop. My friend was tormented so many times by this officer that he decided to run from him one day (big mistake). He was eventually caught, handcuffed to his ladder rack and beaten by the police. My friend also has a deep scar on the bottom of his chin where once at the police station he was pushed down the steps while handcuffed.

Police can be and at are sometimes brutal. You don't have to be black, Hispanic, Asian or white to be brutalized by the police. I am so sick and tired of these ethnic groups feeling like they are somehow singled out.

Like I say above, please just GET OVER YOURSELVES!

Sheesh.

I took the local subway system to the airport late last summer. First time in my life, I saw a table with police (transit) at the entrance. As I walked towards the entrance and before passing the gate, the one black cop pointed at me and said “Over here!” I looked, since I have ridden these trains often, and said “Why me?” He said “It’s your lucky day.” Meanwhile, a sunny pretty day, people with hooded sweaters and tattoos on their throats are passing through. I then said “It’s MY lucky day?!” not very happy. A white cop said “Sir, we have to do this, we are conducting random searches.” I said “OK, that I understand, and I appreciate the better response.” Next person stopped? A white lady about 65 years old. I sent an e-mail complaint about the “lucky day” remark.

Exactly; latinos have a disregard for the laws of their countries, and they come over here with the same attitude. Yes, there are cases of injustice, but for the most part, it is a fact they violate the law more often.

Newsflash: Rednecks, Christians, veterans, and others are warned by the Obama-appointed Feds and by various states that they WILL face profiling by police and other “LEOs”.

“On the heels of the now infamous Missouri Information Analysis Center (MIAC) report, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has just released an “assessment” report entitled “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.” With virtually no references, documentation, or annotations, the report, which was released to all branches of American law enforcement, demonizes a host of citizens as having the capacity to become violent “rightwing extremists.”

The DHS report warns law enforcement to be on guard against anyone who opposes illegal immigration, same-sex marriage, “free trade agreements,” gun control, the “New World Order,” “One World Government,” the outsourcing of American jobs, the “perceived” threat to U.S. sovereignty by foreign powers, abortion, “declarations of martial law,” “the creation of citizen detention camps,” “suspension of the U.S. Constitution,” or the abridgement of State authority. Also branded are people who believe in “end times” prophecies, and who “stockpile” food, ammunition, or firearms.

I dare say that at least 75% (or more) of the American people have beliefs that fall into one or more categories of the above list. If you are one of them, DHS suspects you of being a “rightwing extremist.” But there is more.

The DHS report specifically warns law enforcement to be on guard against “disgruntled military veterans,” especially veterans returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

...so do rental party clowns. No one ever considers that, in the fall the of rental gorilla suits triples, and many drivers are pulled over and given the once over.
Although the stats never ever indicate that major crimes and assaults are committed by gorilla impostors.
You see no one ever looks at the numbers, they seem to like ignoring facts.
A few years ago the State Troopers in Jersey were subjected to claims, and after a much publicized dust up, a commission was formed to investigate.....notice how you never saw the results? What they found was the overwhelming numbers of speeders were young black males. An independent commission came up with THE RESULTS....

"gorilla impostors"

Earlier this year in my old hometown of La Crosse, Wisconsin, a man walked into a local bank wearing a gorilla costume. He had an account at the bank, and withdrew some money. However one of the tellers spotted him entering the bank, and suspecting a robbery, called the police. The man was arrested and hauled down to the cop shop. He was not robbing the bank and he had an account there, but the cops were not amused. One called it the most asinine thing he ever heard of. Cops are not real accepting of certain kinds of humorous stunts when it pertains to banks. I can't remember if the guy was charged or not, and I haven't heard anything about it since then.

"Interned Italian-Americans"

Just read an article in Wikipedia about that. It was mainly foreign-born Italians. A few native-born were rounded up accidentally and later released.

but it is a reality that occurs on these streets every day,”

reality to some is claiming racism by crying racism when none exists.

The Harvard professor screaming racism doesn’t make it so and you can chalk one more up as a false claim of racism.

Using the logic of the race baters one could deduce that all minorities are prone to false claims of racism. If it happened once then it must therefore happen all the time.

The author of this CNN article resorts to the old “Many yadayada” trick:

“Many Latinos say they know how ...”

When they can’t back up a statement with fact, they resort to the “many people / Latinos / etc.” trick.

National Latino Officers Association says Cambridge police ‘acted stupidly’

Just received a press release from the National Latino Officers Association of America, saying Cambridge did not act appropriately arresting Henry Louis Gates. “We also agree that the officers acted “stupidly” in arresting a man in his own home for disorderly conduct

Latino Cops Organization: Cambridge Police Acted "Stupidly"

The disproportionate stopping of African Americans and Latinos by law enforcement is a national problem. We at the National Latino Officers Association support President Barack Obama 100% on this issue, especially his statement following the arrest of Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr., by officers of the Cambridge Police Department that: “What I think we know separate and apart from this incident is that there is a long history in this country of African Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately.

The officer’s response however, clearly shows that he is responding to an African American and not the President of the United States. Any police officer after reviewing his actions in retrospect can conclude that this situation if handled differently could have better served police and community relations. We also agree that the officers acted “stupidly” in arresting a man in his own home for disorderly conduct. Police officers are held to a higher standard than the public.
