A Month in the life of George W. Bush (News and photos)August2009
White House archives ^ | August 1, 2009

Posted on 08/01/2009 3:36:02 PM PDT by Kaslin

It is now going on eight month since President Bush has left office. I thank God for the time he was our President and kept us save after the horrible day on September 11, 2001

For this month thread I will post the August photos from 2001 - 2004. The quote of the day will be President Bush’s announcement on the Patients’ Bill Of Rights, which I find very appropriate being what will face us if the democrat’s health care bill passes and becomes law

Quote of the day

THE PRESIDENT:  Today, I'm very pleased to announce that Congressman Norwood and I have reached an agreement on how to get a patients' bill of rights out of the House of Representatives.

Charlie started on this issue six years ago. He's worked diligently to protect Americans, patients, from wrongdoings.I appreciate so very much his spirit, because I share the same concerns.  And now, after long hard labors, we've reached an agreement on how to amend his bill, that will meet the principles that I outlined.

When I first came to Washington – right after I came to Washington, I gave a speech that talked about the principles necessary for a patients' bill of rights. In that speech, I wanted a bill -- a bill that was good for patients, a bill that allowed for people to be able to air their grievances, a bill that did not encourage frivolous lawsuits.

Charlie also shares the deep concern --I'll let him express his own concerns -- but there's no question that he, himself, wanted to get a bill. He was practicing the art of what is possible. It's a spirit we need more of in Washington people who come to this city with the intent of doing what's right; the intent of having accomplishment; the intent of not playing -- you know, bickering over politics and getting intransigence because you don't get everything you want.

And so after a lot of labor and a lot of hard work and a lot of discussion, we shook hands in the Oval Office, about 10 minutes ago.  And Charlie is going to head up to the Hill. I've spoken to the Speaker. We're going to work on the language of the agreed upon amendment.  And it'll give the members something positive to vote for.

I want to thank Charlie Norwood for his hard work, for his -- the southern gentlemen that he is, for his willingness to work with the White House. It's a good signal for a lot of folks in Capitol Hill.

.

Hated by Hollywood.

Despised by the news media.

Not from the Washington “insider club” which everyone claims not to be but those like Obama, Gore...... are.

Bush didn't get the love an Obama receives. But I have a suspicious feeling that history will be kind to him, no matter how much some try to twist and distort his legacy. Many will change their views once this hopey changey feeling wears off and what defeat in Iraq really looks like gets burned into their consciousness; once they realize what it means to have a Euro style socialist in power reforming health care, nationalizing large parts of the economy, raising their taxes........

At some point, maybe after the next major attack on US soil, some will reconsider their view on Bush. Like Reagan, Bush will have a legacy to be proud of, Obama will end like Carter, or maybe even worse. If it weren't for Obama’s “Historic nature” (i.e. he's half black), if it weren't for the symbolism of what he represents, he would already be shredded in the media, but they will give him every free chance, they will aid and abet him at every turn, because they are in love of the idea of Obama.

Despite how savvy Obama is when speaking, how handsome and cool he looks..... the question is simply how long this illusion and love affair will last. Eventually the bubble will burst and form can no longer trump function. Eventually like all those selling snake oils, ponzi schemes, or other rackets, there will come a reckoning that this product sucks, that what we were sold does not marry up with the claims on the bottle and sales person. It's only a matter of time.

Cheny is looking at a young kid that promised everything and essentially lied his way into the White House. The least qualified and experienced President post WWII and possibly ever, Obama rode to power because he was simply willing to do anything, say anything, break any promise, make any promise, throw anyone or any interest under the bus, while looking cool and playing on his race, picking what side on what issue he's on based on what 50.01% support that day.

The next 3 1/2 years will be a scary time. Someone less experienced, less qualified than I, is our “Commander of Chiefs,” as Obama called it on the campaign trail.
