[S]ome of the NEA's grants are spicing up more than the economy. A few of their more risque choices have some taxpayer advocates hot under the collar, including a $50,000 infusion for the Frameline film house, which recently screened Thundercrack, "the world's only underground kinky art porno horror film, complete with four men, three women and a gorilla." ...

The real reason that we can’t have the Ten Commandments posted in a School classrooms, any Courthouse or the Halls of Congress is this:

You cannot post ‘Thou Shalt Not Covet,’ ‘Thou Shalt Not Steal,’ ‘Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery,’ and ‘Thou Shall Not Lie’ in a buildings full of NEA minions, lawyers, judges, and politicians; it creates a hostile work environment.

Maybe I’m not as enlightened as the liberals, or just not a SanFran freak, but I don’t see the “stimulus” in movies like this.

Compared to the money the Congress Critters take home, I really don’t see the difference. No matter how you slice it, the public is getting figuratively and literally screwed.

“FUND NONE OF IT!”

I agree 100%. Arts funding only ends up going to the wrong people anyways. Did The Beatles get funding from the government? Did Elvis? No.

Here in Virginia, they're going to fill a few cracks.

Major bridge projects get no stimulus help

{snip}

Yet the city received only $1.4 million in federal stimulus money for bridges, which will go toward fixing cracks in the decks of more than a half-dozen other bridges.

Elvis gave back. He was one of the major contributors to build the USS Arizona Memorial.

Funding pornographic horror films? Why do they need money for “San Francisco’s Funniest Home Movies”?

I think that this was on a Fox News with a Dem operative who claimed that there was nothing different going on from ‘W’s administration. This is so bogus because the funding has been protected and promoted by the Dems in Congress ever since Reagan tried to defund the entire thing. Not a lie but selective truth that depends upon the listeners credulity and lack of knowledge.
