Israeli Officials Looking For Gunman Who Opened Fire Inside Gay Club For Youths In Tel Aviv CBS News Interactive: About Israel JERUSALEM (CBS) ― Israeli police say a gunman entered a youth club for gay teens in central Tel Aviv on Saturday night and sprayed the interior with automatic rifle fire, killing three people and injuring 11.
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said it was "most likely a criminal attack and not a terror attack." Tel Aviv has been a target for Palestinian militants in the past.
He said the gunman burst into the basement of the Tel Aviv Gay and Lesbian Association and opened fire on a support group for gay teenagers.
Police are searching the area for the gunman, who fled the scene, he said. Roadblocks were set up.
Rescue services said six of the wounded were badly hurt.
"This was a hate crime, a premeditated attack," witness Yaniv Weisman told Channel 10 TV. He said Cafe Noir, the basement club, was popular with youth.
"Those hurt were very young," he said.
Openly gay Knesset lawmaker Nitzan Horowitz said it was "without a doubt the biggest ever attack on the Israeli gay community, we are all in shock."
Witnesses told Israeli media that the gunman was dressed all in black, and described the scene as a "bloodbath." Witnesses also said the gunman was wearing a mask, according to Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
Haaretz reports officials have ordered the closure of all gay centers in the area as a precaution.
That never would have happened in Iran.
This was a gay gathering, ergo, it MUST be a hate crime.
What in h#!! are the other attacks? Am I having a disconnect here, or what?

What a perfectly ridiculous thing to say, as if it makes a blind bit of difference.
Prayers for the wounded, and for the families of the dead teenagers.
just cause they were there doesn’t mean they were Gay - speaking from experience I have plenty of homosexual friends, and furthermore, in a Gay club, (at least)half the men aren’t interested in the girls there, making things much easier....
Prayers for all affected....
You just don't understand. Machine gunning ordinary heterosexual Israelis is all done in fun, no hate involved there./SAR
Don't try to think like a liberal dumb a**, your head will just start to hurt. This article and others like it about so called hate crimes in the US point up the true agenda of hate crime legislation.
Sounds like a terror attack to me. What is a terror attack, if not a sudden attack on civilians going about their lives in a way that the attackers disapprove of on political and/or religious grounds?
Speechless.
Very clever... Are you proud of yourself?
What is wrong with you?
How’s the trolling in Iowa?
Why should I not be? Should I be wring my hands and say these poor alternative life style people got shot?
They “got shot?” Do you feel better about yourself by phrasing it so it seems like it was the victims’ fault?
A gunman SHOT and MURDERED children they believed to be gay. It wasn’t happenstance. And, “getting shot” is not a feature of being gay.
Getting beat up getting rolled is part of being gay. Going in to Catholic churches dressed outrageous is part of being gay. And having church goes being outraged of it is part of being gay. Back in the day getting beat up by rednecks for having long hair was part of having long hair. A man dressed as a woman and wanting to use the womans restroom and those women having a fit over it is part of cross-dressing. Men having sex with other man have a higher chance of getting aids than men who dont is part of being gay. I do not condone what was done to these young people. But doing it in a religious strict country have a greater chance of this happening to them.
Mate, I’m guessing you’re not so quick to express such nasty little opinions in the real world as online.
Young people died. You’re using it for cheap pointscoring and that makes you a whole lot worse than anyone who used that club, no matter what their lifestyle.
What do you mean nasty little opinions. The bible tells us that all of our actions have consequences. These people flaunted their perversions in a very religious arena and someone took it upon themselves to do something about it. In a country that strictly observers the sabbath with all kinds of rules and they openly flaunt their lifestyles of sin and everyone is shocked that this has happened. God has a nasty little opinion about witches they are to be stoned to death. If you have a problem with that then take it up with God.
I mean exactly what I said. The bible tells us Judge not lest ye be judged, along with Hate the sin but not the sinner. We can condemn the behaviour without needing to spray a childs brains onto the pavement. Anyone who argues otherwise is sick and has even less of a connection with jesus than the worst 911 sicko. There is no middle ground here. The evil of this butchery is not lessened simply because their victims were gay. Killers of this ilk are bound for hell.
