I think I’ll sue this woman fore being an idiot!
“Information technology?” Gee, sure is a wonder that she can’t find employment, ain’t it? I mean, don’t they teach you that telephones let you CALL people and stuff like that?
The college is certainly liable for something...they conferred a degree upon her and she is obviously an idiot!
Her first mistake was to spend $70K on degree from a university in the Bronx.
I want to keep track of this name, because I would never hire this woman for anything!
She’s proven that she will sue at the drop of a hat.
I’d love to see her win and open the floodgates to having every dead-end college burnout suing universities out of existence. Won’t happen, but it’d be fun to watch.
Damn, I cannot for the life of me figger out how someone with a degree in “Information technology? from a prestigious school like Monroe College is have trouble getting a job.
This suit is ridiculous, of course, but the truth is that many institutions of higher learning do very little to prepare students for the work world.
They’re happy to collect thousands of dollars for mostly meaningless academic courses (especially in the liberal arts department) that often have very little relevance to a vocation or the business world.
Yes, I think it’s, “Time for an attitude adjustment.” She is due for a class in charm from Gunny R. Lee Ermey.
Note to all HR Depts of employers in the Tri-State area: you do not want to hire anyone named Trina Thompson!

Yup unfortunately this grad has no resume
I think India is hiring.
Seriously, if the school "guaranteed" they would help her find a job after she graduated, she may have a valid point. It wouldn't be MY first choice of things to do, but could be worth watching to see how this turns out.
To all:
Remembering the general trustworthiness and thoroughness of the media, don’t be too quick to judge on this case. The plaintiff might very well have a point if the school made specific promises or guarantees that it failed to follow through on.
Mind you, I doubt that they would have made guarantees without wiggle room built into them, but the simple fact is that we just don’t know. From the article she is claiming that the school has not followed through on promised services in job placement and counseling. The school, of course, denies it. But we aren’t privy to enough facts to know whom to believe.
A common mistake.
One attends college to acquire an education.
Job training is another story altogether.
She would have been better off getting industry certs like MCSEs and/or Cisco's line of certs, these are what we look for. A degree is great but we want someone who can hit the ground running and I would trust a CCNP over a recently received sheepskin.
I don't know what she's looking for but you don't get to be CIO as your first job. After you've paid your dues, funny how people don't understand that concept; they think someone who busted their butt is going to let someone walk in without some experience, then the degree will matter. Keeping up with the cert chase is also good in the IT world unless you become a manager like me (after 15 years as a Sr. Network Engineer and many many days working 12 hour days for salary). Get some successful projects under your belt and you go far. Sit and reset passwords all day without any ambition to rise higher also is noticed.
