90% of U. S. Converts Are African Americans - - 60% Converted in Prison Cells

CNN reports that more than 25% of the Muslims in America are converts who have embraced Islam in the wake of 9/11.
The report conveys the impression that Islam now attracts adherents from all religious, social, economic and racial backgrounds through interviews with recent converts - - both white women - - Allison Poole, formerly a Southern Baptist, and Barbara Cartokuke, a lapsed Roman Catholic.
Ms. Poole claims that Islam has heightened her religious awareness since she now prays five times a day, and Barbara Cartokuke says that Islam has brought her a “one-on-one relationship with God” that she was unable to establish by reciting Hail Marys.
While it is true that Islam is the fastest growing religion in America with over 1.5 million new converts, the development is far from multicultural or multiracial.
The CNN news clip fails to point out that 90% of the 1.5 million new converts are African Americans, and that 60% become Muslims while serving time in prison.
Prison - - not the college campus, the workplace, or the neighborhood mosque - - has become the breeding ground for wholesale conversions of blacks.
The appeal of Islam to inmates is not difficult to explain.
Muslim prisoners demand and receive the right to observe congregational salat to a separate kitchen for the preparation of separate meals, to separate hours for showers and toilets to ensure their privacy, and to sadaqa These concessions grant Muslims the ability to corner the drug trade within the prison system.

It’s no surprise that Islam would be attractive to many criminals. In return for some self-discipline, you can join a supergang, with the promise that in a little while, you’ll be able to do whatever you like to the infidels in the name of all that’s holy.
Everyone needs to see “Malcolm X” by Spike Lee (I know, I know...) to get an idea how this has been happening - it’s a MOVIE for sure but despite the fact that Lee digs this whole thing, the Nation of Islam comes off looking pretty opportunistic and vengeful none the less...just saying....
Saudi-funded religious institutions, such as the American Muslim Council (AMC), have long been treated as representatives of the American Muslim community by the US government. Abdurahman Almoudi, the founder of the AMC, was a frequent visitor to White House under the Clinton and Bush administrations despite having publicly proclaimed support for the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas (he is now in jail for having illegally accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Libyan government).
High level political access has enabled such groups to penetrate the American prison system. The US Bureau of Prisons has relied on chaplain endorsements from the so-called Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences (GSISS), a Saudi-funded organization.[24] The most egregious example of this penetration is the case of Imam Deen Umar, the Administrative Chaplain for the State of New York Department of Corrections. Umar, an American convert who made two visits to Saudi Arabia and studied at the GSISS, and the men he hired as chaplains, had exclusive access to the 13,000 Muslims in the New York prison system. According to then FBI Assistant Director for Counterterrorism John S. Pistole, Umar was found to have “denied prisoners access to mainstream imams and materials” and “sought to incite prisoners against America, preaching that the 9/11 hijackers should be remembered as martyrs and heroes.”[25]
While there is little evidence that al-Qaeda has recruited inside the American prison system, it is noteworthy that José Padilla (arrested in 2002 in connection with an al-Qaeda plot to detonate a radioactive “dirty bomb” in the United States) first embraced radical Islam while in prison, as did Richard Reid (the so-called “shoe bomber” arrested in 2001) in the UK and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in Jordan.

Black Ministers Object To 'Dangerous, Evil' New Mosque

The city council voted 3-2 last month to change the zoning of the proposed site from residential to commercial, allowing the Islamic Center to erect a larger mosque on undeveloped land on Northwest 16th Avenue.
Commissioner Pat Larkins was one of the most outspoken critics of a new mosque. Larkins, who is black, said there is a perception in the neighborhood he represents that Muslims do not give back to the community.
"I am not opposed to constructing the facility," Larkins said. "I am opposed to the conduct of the Muslim business community in our neighborhood."
His comments raised furor among the Muslim community when he was quoted by The South Florida Sun-Sentinel as saying Muslims "don't contribute a nickel to any cause in terms of improving the community." He went on to say "most black folks see them as people that come in to rape the community and go away."
Another prominent black figure, Rev. O'Neal Dozier, shared a similar view.
"I believe that Islam is a dangerous, evil religion," Dozier said. "I think that it is one that we should try to prevent."
But Altaf Ali, executive director of the Council of American Islamic Relations, disagreed with Dozier, calling him a "bigot" and "prejudice."
"I think his information and knowledge of Islam is very limited," Ali said.
Despite the protests, Islamic Center leaders said they hope to break ground on the new mosque within a year.
Muslims have been active converting blacks in prison since (AT LEAST) the 1940s. This is far from a new development.

Forget about watching a film about Islam. There are a number of resources which reveals the teachings/practices of the Muslim religion.
And you could never convince these converts that it was Arabs who sold the converts’ ancestors into slavery originally or that it was white Americans and British who put a stop to slave trading in this hemisphere.

You're known by the company you keep. That said, I've known nice people who were Muslim - but they were born into the religion. People who choose such a violent hate based religion have a problem - same "problem" criminals have...
It is fairly common to find black muslim women in the NYC area wearing a blue chador (why blue?). I did know of a (rather unattractive) white woman of Irish ancestry who married a guy from Yemen and then converted to Islam. The chador was actually an improvement in that case...

Nothing new. When I worked for the Dept of Corrections at Walpole in Massachussetts in the 70’s, we had on cell block (about 1/8th of the prison) set aside for Muslim prisoners.
