Durbin warns other lawmakers of healthcare town hall 'sucker punch' @ 3:39 pm by Jordan Fabian
Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) warned other members of Congress against antagonistic audience members at healthcare town hall events who may be funded by industry interest groups.
"I hope my colleagues won't fall for a sucker punch like this," Durbin told the liberal blog ThinkProgress.
"These health insurance companies and people like them are trying to load these town meetings for visual impact on television," he added.
Liberal news sources have recently featured items about conservative and interest groups efforts to pack lawmakers' town hall meetings with brash, vocal participants.
Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius were faced with a hostile crowd at a town hall meeting in Philadelphia on Sunday.
Here is video of Durbin's remarks:
C’mon, Sen. Dick. Just imagine what Saul Alinsky might do.
It’s all a vast-right wing conspiracy to “get” the Rat Congress-critters.
My congresscoward isn’t having any town hall meetings but I do know where his office is.
AMERICA has been sucker punched! What is dumbin talking about - he’s also as neurotic as the rest of his leftist bullies in government.
Turbin's projecting again.
So, Dick, you'd be better off canceling all your "townhall" meetings and just go fishing or something where nobody knows who you are.
Durbin needs a sucker punch to wake him up. May I be first in line, please?
Is he talking about people like Code Pink? Or ACORN? Or the Kos kids?
Well well...the Dummies are running scared.
Crook Durbin Code: The natives are restless...Don’t pay any attention to them.
....and the far left NEVER has paid “plants” in the crowds. Well F-U! These are REAL people using their most precious assets...their freedom and their TIME to preserve the future of this country!
These people are not Americans, they are all foreigners attacking out freedom....in essence, Terrorists in suits and ties!
Alinsky rules in full effect.
My congressbastard is having one meeting - at 9:30 am on a tuesday.
Democrats falsely accusing Republicans of using democrat methods of intimidation ?
Can’t spell Grass roots ?
HOW INSULTING... to think that the American people need to be coached on how to RESIST???? We have been quiet too long while others are yelling and standing up for their rights, we have let our rights dissolve.
durbin is in for a rude awakening. We don’t need unions or healthcare groups for us to know that this healthcare bill is an obamanation of the obamanation and to show up and SHOUT IT OUT... NO, NO, NO.
ACORN and other socialist groups do what Durbin suggests is being done. They just bussed in ACORN groups and the disabled to a town meeting in Pittsburgh.
Just because Durbin is guilty of it, maybe he thinks that is the way normal Americans behave... what a loon
Rush had a caller today saying she heard some reporter on NBC say that the insurance industry was bussing in people to the townhall meetings. This is the new ploy the left is going with now.
Now we know what they think of the voters.
they assume everyone salts the meetings they way they do - 100% of the time.
Isn’t that akin to having a neighborhood watch meeting without the neighbors. LOL!!! I guess he only wants the ones looking for free stuff to show up.
I’m not trying to cause trouble or sound like a crazyman. But at what point do people in a free society go beyond the ballot box to preserve their freedom? Are we at that point now? What might that look like? Where/how should it begin?
Durbin is a liar. This is the vocie of US concerned citizens.
The left and their enablers in the media have nothing but complete scorn for the ordinary American.
“Accuse others of what you do.”
—Vladimir Ilyich Lenin
yeah, watch out buddies, you may actually hear the opinion of real live Americans!!!! I know it’s horrible and all, because we know what is best and don’t need them, so be careful! industry people, my butt you weak-kneed democraps!
I have no idea what you are talking about. Everyone on this site is a hardworking, law abiding, freedom loving citizen. How about you?
Durbin is despicable most for his mellifluous, easy-listening announcer like delivery of the most vicious, slanderous (outside of the Constitutionally protected floor of the Senate) attacks on Republicans and conservatives. It's as if he hypnotizes a portion of the public and all of the press by delivering tremendous falsehood and hostility in soft and friendly intonation.
Keep telling yourself that, dickey.
They are not afraid. They will continue to do what they do until they are either voted out of office of pulled from the Capitol and tarred and featherd. Neither of which I see happening.
The voters will continue to walk in and put their X next to the name they recognize and everyone believes enough in election consequences that the 2nd one will not happen.
These congress people do not represent us and they have been shown no reason to fear us.
que sera sera
Oh, cry me a river, Dickie. You’ll deny to your death that regular citizens just might disagree with your socialistic views.
The funny thing is poll after poll shows that more than 70% of Americans are happy with their current health plans. Wouldn’t it make sense that a meeting criticizing and trying to change something that 70% people are for would attract some negative comments?
When? What point?
Well, when it becomes clear after 2010 that the ballot box has been so corrupted as to not be an option anymore.
And it should ALREADY be “beginning”, with phonecalls and letters to your STATE LEGISLATORS. Demand state sovereignty legislation. Then demand enforcement.
Then, prepare to back up your locals when the feds come to arrest them or enforce their unconstitutional laws.
The media never DID discuss the hands of the Communist Party behind the so-called "antiwar" protests (that were suprisingly PRO-Palestinian war and pro-insurgency).
When citizens oppose big government socialism, it’s an “astroturf” campaign by “special interests”.
When an Orwellian mob of union thugs show up and protest or a mob of illegals show up and demand amnesty.....it’s an example of “grassroots democracy”.
(Texas-D) Doggett says hes more resolved than ever to pass a health-care plan ("Just Say No") (Austin American Statesman Monday, August 3, 2009)
Dickie, BOOBY, THESE ARE SERIOUSLY PISSED OFF AMERICANS.
And there are more of us every freaking day so get used to it or get out of the kitchen.
“Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) warned other members of Congress against antagonistic audience members ... “
“Why, the h-h-hoi p-p-polloi are absolutely revolting!”
Dick the Younger, demo-douchebag,
sniffing his lavendar handkerchief
More like frightened.
Oh, the irony! I think you call that a HYPOCRITE!
We, the American people, aren't allowed to voice our opinion to our elected officials. But the "IMPORTANT PEOPLE" (below) get a personal message from them!
ARE WE FED UP YET?!!!

Dick Turban! Ain’t that a pretty mental picture?
Totally outrageous that he would say this! So anyone who disagrees that attends a town hall meeting, certainly couldn’t be frustrated citizen who wants to voice their opinion—no that is only reserved for ACORN and SEIU workers mascarading as townhall participants....No citizens who disagree with dems have to be marginalized and others admonished not to be sucker punched?!!
Wonder if Senator will be having any forums in which he can be, as he puts it “sucker punched”??!! I would like to give him my opinion & yes, it will be LOUD.
The sucker needs to be taken out an tarred and feathered and then have his mouth sewn shut.
This whole thing is not about Health Care, it is about control, plain and simple.
We need to take the fight to them in their townhalls. Hammer them mercilessly with factual data and do not take no for an answer. These reps need to fear the voters, their constiutents, for their political lives more than they fear Pelosi, Reed, or Obama.
Here is a link to the full House Democrat Health Care Plan in PDF. In Section 1233 E & F, pages 426-433, you find the part about mandatory end-of-life counseling for anyone over 65 years of age. Section 152 Page 50: All healthcare services will be provided without regard to "personal characteristcs" which is not defined within the document but is understood to include immigration status.
Section 224 b Page 125: The Secretary shall design and implement the payment mechanisms and policies under this section in a manner that (1) seeks to (B) reduce health disparities (including racial, ethnic and other disparities).
A lot more provisions now being documented at that site.
Donwload it, read it, study it, then hammer your reps over it and pass it on to all you know asking them to do the same.
Also, here's a large image of the Democratic (Obama) Health Plan chart-another Obama empty promise. This is the one the House democrats are censuring. Email these links or the image to everyone you know.
Obama and all those pushing his radical agenda are abject marxist ideologues. Their "fundamental; change" is nothing more than a destruction of the American free market and fundamental republican principle.

...and on the lighter side, take your mind off the Obamanation for a few minutes and enjoy some beautiful Western US scenery slideshows.
These fools seem to think they're anointed, and it's obvious they have nothing but disdain for the American people they're supposed to be serving!
Durbin, you Dick. Is it beyond your comprehension that the people that are antagonistic towards your marxist health care plan are TRULY TICKED OFF AT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT????
I strongly recommend attending these "town hall" meetings en masse wherever they are held, and getting the word out that we, the people, do NOT want government health care in this country. Period!
I'm looking forward to seeing the angry masses rise up in defense of our freedom and our constitution. These idiots, these worthless POS morons in Washington need to know that their employment terms are about to end.
