Just because Congress is on recess doesn't mean we still can't put pressure on them to stand up against President Barack Obama's socialist agenda. In fact, this is the best time to do so.
Most Congressmen are heading back to their districts until Sept. 8 for a little face-time with constituents. Many times this includes town hall meetings where constituents and Congressmen are able to talk in a personal setting about political issues. This is where TEA party activists and other grassroots conservatives have had a tremendous impact.
Take a look at this story from POLITICO. The article focuses on a surge of activist activity at town hall meetings to the point where Congressmen are frightened at the prospect of having to face the tough criticism from angry participants.
This is amazing news: We have elected officials on the defensive.
We must take advantage of the August recess by continuing this pressure on Congressmen at scheduled town hall meetings in the next few weeks.
This is how you can do it: 1) Go to http://www.votesmart.org/ where you can use a tool to locate your elected officials by zip code. It is located on the left side of the page under the menu bar.
2) After you locate your elected officials, call their office and ask if they have any town hall meetings scheduled. While Congressmen may be back home, their D.C. offices are still staffed and able to take phone calls.
3) Show up to the town hall meetings by yourself, or with a group of other angry constituents, and don't be afraid to grill your elected officials about their positions on Obama's socialist agenda. Even if they are with the "good guys," they still have an obligation to step up to the plate and vocally come out against Obama. So far, very few Congressmen have done this. Please let us know how this goes for you, and you can post any town hall meeting schedules in the blog comments so other people from your area will be able to see them.
Also, don't just limit this to federal officials. Many anti-freedom initiatives take place at the local level. Keep local officials' feet to the fire about limiting government, too.
Track them down, and follow their every move. Make sure that everywhere they go they get an earful!

Just called Congressman Berry’s office to get a schedule of events that he plans to attend during the August recess.
NO EVENTS PLANNED UNTIL LABOR DAY
Do you think he is avoiding us?
How common will this be across the country?
