As if things in Michigan aren’t bad enough, we have this news to hit it even more :

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=32993

Michigan Penal Colony? AARP Part of Pelosi Plans?

The Obama administration is again pushing plans to move terrorists from the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, detention facility into the United States, initially to Michigan or Kansas. Despite near unanimous objections from every state and nearly every member of the House and Senate, the President appears to be adamant about keeping this one campaign promise that would endanger American lives despite his reckless disregard for all of his other campaign promises.

The Michigan option would include a $100 million revamp of the Standish maximum security prison which is slated to close due to the state’s calamitous financial situation brought to you by state liberal Democrats over the past decade.

The Obama Justice Department has reportedly identified approximately 80 detainees who can be charged and prosecuted. The problem is they’re choosing to do so in our domestic court system. Of course, they’re keeping the Bush policy for those they deem “too dangerous” to be tried: they’re holding them indefinitely without trial. There are about 150 others that they plan to just release — despite the high rate of recidivism for returning to the battlefield to kill American soldiers.

I wish Ted could run for governor in his adopted home state, Texas.

Once considered buying houses in Detroit.

And barging them eslewhere, to be installed as lake-front houses somewhere else.

But my economic analysis indicated the tax liability on the vacant land in Detroit, after I removed the house, would kill any profit from the scheme.

I’m with ya — I think that would be the smackdown of the century. Uncle Ted ROCKS, in more ways than one.

It was former guv John Engler that first mentioned the idea of bringing Gitmo prisoners to Michigan. I do think the UP was what he had in mind, though.

I can’t imagine what our poor, stupid state would be like if we had the huge influx of illegals Kalifornia deals with.

Last week I was in Michigan and Northern Indiana, on business. I got a chance to drive through Flint and Detroit, and it was every bit as bad as I had heard, and thought it would be.

Henry Ford is probably spinning in his grave like a flywheel.

President Obama either refuses to accept this economic truism or he has other malicious and disastrous plans for America up his sleeves.

Great gonzos! I think he's on to something.

Ted, with all due respect, you’ve lived in a socialistic “utopia” forever. You’re just now waking up to see the “fruits of it’s labor”? The end result?

I would be in favor of that only if the prison cells were outside.

It’s no coincidence Michigan has voted for the Dumocrats in the last five presidential elections and has been controlled by the Dumocrats for years. Then you throw in a socialist, Canadian governor and the labor unions who are living in a fantasy world ... then you throw in NAFTA, which was passed by Clinton (remember Ross Perot’s “giant sucking sound” quip), then you throw in higher taxes ... then you’ve got a recipe for disaster. Michigan, you never learn.
