On Aug. 2 there came to light a birth certificate showing that Barack Obama was born in Coast General Hospital in Mombasa, Kenya in 1961. It was published far and wide, but was quickly shown to be a forgery: It says it was issued by the Republic of Kenya on Feb. 17, 1964, before there was a Republic of Kenya, and when Kenya was still a British Dominion.
Who would have an interest in publishing such an obvious forgery at this time? How did the Obama birth certificate question, so widely ridiculed by both the left and the right, become a national issue?
First, a little history. It all started very innocently. Well over a year ago, rumors began to swirl about Obama’s country of origin. In response, left wing operatives over at the Daily Kos posted a Certification of Live Birth (COLB). Almost immediately, even to the layman’s eye, it was obvious that the Kos COLB had been altered.
When a brouhaha ensued in the blogosphere, the blogger, Jay McKinnon, owned up. The Israel Insider site said on July 3, 2008 that McKinnon “implicated himself in the production of palpably fake Hawaii birth certificate images similar to the one endorsed as genuine by the Barack Obama campaign, and appearing on the same Daily Kos blog entry where the supposedly authentic document appears.”

I never heard about it being found to be a forgery..they must have printed that in Chinese paper..As for the distraction it would be very simple to just turn the real one over and be done with it..I really don’t care about the darn birth certificate because I am more than sure he should not be a president of anythng not even the dump collectors union since he is a Muslim Commie he should be sent back to Kenya..
The legitimacy of a Presidents required Constitutional credentials is more than fair game at any time a significant mystery remains deliberately undisclosed by any sitting President...which is the case now. The legitimacy of a sitting President is CENTRAL to the legitimacy of any government....such a situation is hardly a distraction. This time it is of even more importance internationally than the impeachment cases of Nixon and Clinton. It is not a distraction. A deliberate landmine was planted by the DNC with the candidacy of Obama in the first place...that landmine is now going off.
The character, honesty of a sitting President is now under challenge again, with higher risks to the country than before. Do not ALinsky and disciples worship chaos?
It sure would be great if someone could find a bonafide Kenyan Birth Certificate that was issued by the “Republic of Kenya” before December 1964.
That would discredit their “not a Republic” argument.
Just sayin’.
If this Kenyan CoB is a fraud....no one has put forth a similar Kenyan document from the same time period. Very telling....
And the after-birthers would not hesitate to post such....

The only people who are calling this issue a “distraction” are either Obama supporters, folks who can’t multi-task, folks who simply don’t give a rats patootie about protecting the Constitution, or folks who just don’t understand the situation.
By calling it a “distraction” they hope to minimize the importance of the situation.

What a hoot. Once again the MSM just says what they would like the news to be, not what it actually is!
The big difference in the sides on this is that the ‘birthers’ are willing, anxious, to provide their documentation for close scrutiny to determine authenticity. The other side publishes pictures of the document on which their case rests and spares no effort in avoiding having the matter settled.
Truth is I wanted neither Obama or McCain. I say we just do it all over again! Primaries and all! I daresay I think the results would be quite different. Bring it on!

Pam, that's what Wikipedia says. But if you study the primary documents, you will find, as several Freeper investigators have found, that Jomo Kenyatta declared it a Republic a full year earlier than Wikipedia claims.
