LUMBERTON - As darkness fell on the final evening of the Burlington County Farm Fair on Saturday, one distinct parade made its way through the crowds of festival-goers.
As part of his recent introduction of his running mate for the November election, Gov. Jon S. Corzine and his caravan made a stop at the Farm Fair to shake hands and talk to residents. The visit came as a late surprise to Farm Fair Manager Bill Spicer.
"First he was coming and then he wasn't and then he was," said Spicer with a laugh. "But now he's here and I think people are excited."
Corzine arrived at the Farm Fair at 8:30 p.m., wiggled through crowds of supporters and posed for pictures with interested residents. The Democratic governor had made several earlier stops at various locations around the state before appearing at the fair.
Many people who had heard rumors of his visit patiently waited for his arrival.
"People are excited about him," said Debbie Sarcone, a former council member in Evesham, who was campaigning at the Farm Fair with Bill Brown as independents for the state Assembly. "It's important to have that balance with a man and a woman running together. I hope (Corzine) gets out there more and he lets people get to know what he's about."
Corzine officially introduced Loretta Weinberg as his running mate earlier on Saturday, calling the northern New Jersey state senator someone he trusts "absolutely, completely."

That's not what I saw. What Farm Fair were you at? I saw the governor get out of his car at the Dairy Cow tent and was greeted by a crowd of irate dairy farmers and 4-H kids. The dairy farmers like most Ag. businesses in New Jersey are opposed to Governor Corsines attempts to abolish the NJ Dept. of Agriculture and his apparent indifference to the problems of dairy farmers in the state, many of whom are shutting down. There were also many supporters of his opponent who were so happy to see him they were told to put down their signs by the police, who were concerned about the crowds mood. I can't believe Mr. Zimmaro missed all this, why is it not reported?

was there and the welcome was anything but warm. Yes, there was a group of Corzine supporters, however I would have thought more of a crowd would have headed over to see him than did. Just like the other poster said- a whole bunch of farmers, 4-H kids, and others who favored his opposition actually were discouraged from hanging around him, which made a lot of people very unhappy. Guess any of them that might have been on the fence are now well over on Chris Christie's side. This is certainly not an unbiased report... or the reporter was just not paying attention.
But some animals are more equal than others.
The irony, of course, is that they’re mad at him for one of the few good ideas he has - getting rid of the state Agriculture Department.
The title of this article and it’s content are disturbingly Soviet. It reminds you of some creepy North Korean news agency report about the “Dear Leader” being warmly welcomed by the heroic dairy farmers. This is the state of American journalism today folks. All things Democrat are glorified and praised regardless of the facts.
Maybe farmers in New Jersey are different, but Corzine seems to be the antithesis of the kind of guy they would like.
Then again, farmers everywhere, ain’t what they used to be....
God..you are spot on with that observation.
COMMUNIST CREEPY!
A man who buys what he wants, including public offices, with other people's money if possible.
If you read the comments at the end of the article it is clear the farmers, etc are NOT happy with him. We had a few friends that were there say Corzine was booed repeatedly....though the paper did not report that.
freaking liars!

I’ll bet she was out front in the Palin assination. What a miserable POS. Maybe one of these days, New Jersey is going to wake up and run all these parasites out of the state. Maybe, but I’m not holding my breath.
BTW, the news release says she’s running as an independent. That’s strange because she was nominated by the RATs.
