Welcome to the Year of the Rat.
In Waltham, the city wants to pay packy employees for ratting out college-aged drinkers.
In Washington, the White House Health Reform Office wants you to report any anti-Obama rumors that come your away. Theyve even set up an e-mail address for you to rat out your annoying right-winger colleague.
Think Im exaggerating? Read the message from the whitehouse.gov Web site for yourself:
Scary chain e-mails and videos are starting to percolate on the Internet. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain e-mails or through casual conversation. Since we cant keep track of all of them here at the White House, were asking for your help. If you get an e-mail or see something on the Web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

Remember his call for supporters to go out and argue with Republicans - get in their face - during the campaign? Or when, as president, he sent supporters door to door to ask their neighbors to sign pledges of support for his economic policy.
But asking Americans to rat out their fellow citizens is taking it to a new level. Worse, the White House apparently expects us to do it.
Would you? Forget the politics. Left or right, I cant imagine...

Be careful what you wish for.
You got what you voted for Michael!
I expected change, but never thought Obama would be outed as a rat. LOL
Hi, this is Michael Graham. Just for the record—as anyone who reads my columns or listens to my show knows—I held my nose and voted for John McCain.
The column was a quintessential liberal rant.
