Health bill: Taxpayers to fund union retiree health plans
Boston. com ^ | 8/6/09 | Foon Reih

This is a re-post for those who may have missed it this afternoon.

-----------------------------

Last week I noticed an odd, inexplicable provision in the House bill.

House Bill Page 65, Section 164...sets aside $10 Billion for "eligible" health plans...for retirees. Not only that, it specifies retirees can be as young as 55 yrs old. Now, I know that very few non-union private companies offer retirement health care plans (they assume their retirees will be on Medicare. And they especially don't offer it at age 55.

So I suspected this was a payoff to the UAW and other unions. I called my Congressman and Senators...but NO ONE could explain this to me.

TODAY I GOT CONFIRMATION OF MY SUSPICIONS.

At the linked article above, they discuss the letter John Sweeney sent to AFL-CIO members exhorting them to turn out at town hall meetings.

In the letter he also lays out the unions' non-negotiable demands in the health bill. One of Sweeney's demands is:

...that the legislation contain "relief for company/union funds providing pre-Medicare retiree coverage...

Freepers, this is blockbuster stuff.

WE will be forced to pay for union health benefits that WE DON't GET!

Remember when the UAW whined about the "deep concessions" their retirees made so Obama could screw the GM bondholders? Well, here Obama is giving them back...plus a few billion.

Please ping this around.

If taxpayers learn about this provision it could bring the whole thing down.

It's hard to get people to focus on the complexities of health care.

But they'll easily understand CORRUPTION and POLITICAL PAYOFFS...with THEIR money!

And don’t think for a minute that entire $10 Billion is for retiree health care.

Much of it will slosh over to help Dems SHUT US UP in the future.

It’s a catastrophe.

It gets kinkier than that....

Do you remember the Financial Auto Analysis on Rush?

They get to keep the "VEBA" money if this happens and have billions for recruitment!

My name is Ben, Ben Dover and I am from the Gov't and I am here to help you!

Yep. And you can tack on the $70 or 80 Billion they “forgave” in Delphi pension obligations held by GM.

Well, they didn’t forgive them. They just agreed to have the taxpayers pay it for them.

How ‘bout helping me keep it bumped?

Surely there’s SOMEONE here who can get the information to a reporter or interested official.

I hate that we’re such PEONS in this revolting system.

...that the legislation contain "relief for company/union funds providing pre-Medicare retiree coverage...

Since this crap sandwich isn't going to be Amended to the Constitution, it's "theoretically" dead in the water. Any honest appellate court would strike the down the bill via due process clause.

Problem, is there an honest appellate court that understands the true intention for why this government came to be in the first place? Any court that follows the original intent of General Welfare? I do not think so, we have rogues in black robes who need power "fixes"/central planner wannabes.

Of course, someone has to KNOW THE PROVISION IS IN THERE in order to seek relief!

The issue right now is to get this in front of the public.

I’ve sent it to my local paper...I know, as if a local rag could break a blockbuster story like this.

I also sent it to the health care reporter at Politico.
And I left a message for Cici Connoley at the WaPo.

We’ll see if I get any “green shoots”.

When you replied to me, you “bumped” the thread.

Any post is a bump. When a thread is dropping off the front
page Freepers will post a reply that simply says “bump” in an effort to push it back up top.

And....now I’ve bumped it!

And....now I’ve bumped it!
The best bump of all would be for someone higher up the food chain to bump it all the way to an e-mail blast message to all the news organs.
