PHOENIX -- The Obama Administration is on a spending binge that must come to an end -- and without the president's health care reform proposal, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., declared Friday.
McCain, who lost to President Barack Obama in last year's election, told Austin Hill, guest host on News/Talk 92-3 KTAR's "Ankarlo Mornings," that "We've amassed over a trillion dollars in additional debt on the American people since the president took office."
He said Obama is slipping in the polls because, "The polls are showing the manifestation of the deep concern and worry Americans have about the debt and the deficit."
The president's health care reform plan would cost another trillion dollars, McCain said.
He discouraged raucous behavior that has erupted at town hall meetings on health care reform around the country. McCain said the town hall form of meetings is a fundamental of democracy and it's important to have a dialogue.
"We should all be respectful," he said.

Well he does face re-election in 2010.
Enjoy his rightward swing as he campaigns for his primary against a real conservative.
Because once he gets the primary battle sewn up, you will never see it again.
There’s a graphic of McCain
showing up on the conservative’s doorstep
with flowers and lipstick marks all over him
saying that those “moderates” didn’t mean a thing to him.
WHAT? That was this SAME Senator John McCain? From Arizona?
I had NO idea!

“Respectful”?! As in Hussein’s proclamation that “I won”, and his remark that political opponents need to just “quit talking”, and making every issue about himself, in order to divert and diffuse opposition?
Nailed it.
Yep - many of them play this game. Govern one way for 5 1/2 years, and then pretend you are someone else the half year before election.
Unfortunately this game usually works...
I gave you a lot of crap about you dissing McCain during the campaign but I now believe the damage he would have done worse damage to the GOP. Economically he's little better than Obama.
I don't know who I favor yet in 2012 but we have to get somebody that will differentiate us from the Democrats.
What’s this “continues charge to the right” crap? This is the first thing he’s disagreed with Obie about.
Too late John boy! You’d be better off staying home and hunkering down because there is a storm coming.
Whatever McCain. I can guarantee, if Goldman Sachs and the rest of the parasites went back to Washington saying: “we need another bailout, or else the economy will totally shut down,” that McCain would be the first Senator to roll over and give them another trillion.
He needs to realize that this deficit is partly his fault for supporting TARP.
I thought Congress had the power of the purse?
McLame blaming Metroboy? Eh, typical.
I really wish that a STRONG conservative candidate would run against Senator McCain instead of the weak candidates that are presently running against Senator McCain. J.D. Hayworth would definitely be a strong conservative candidate opponent of McCain, if he ever actually decides to enter this race.

“McCain? Who?”
Don’t remember him? He’s the old coot who not only called Americans “vigilantes” & “bigots” but told us not too long ago that 0 was doing a great job.
His move on Sotomayor and now this, display ten times the backbone this jackass showed last year, is if it truly were backbone. This is the McCain skulduggery we’ve come to know and loathe.
Just hang around until November 3rd, 2010, to see this rat bastard show his true colors again. Ah who am I kidding, he won’t be able to keep from praising Obama countless times before then. This guy has all the attention span and self control of a four year old.
We are in this mess because this RINO was the candidate of a foolish and stupid GOP that couldn’t run a real Republican. A lot of us could see he was going to throw the race, but we were all called rightwing nut jobs at the time. Well, what are you thinking now?
To the extent he is useful, this spineless jellyfish needs to be used until 2010, and then he needs to be dumped from office in favor of a real Republican.
Hehehe, maybe looking at Obama was kind of like looking in the mirror and it scared the hell out of him.
Real comforting coming from the very Guy who put this Muslim and fraud in office.
He has the distinction of being a candidate that I would rather be in the Whitehouse rather than Obama, but at the same time I’m glad he was defeated.
I voted for Palin....
And god willing,he loses in the primary.
It was RINOs like McCain who gave legitimacy to Obama and who allowed him to appear moderate. Too late, the RINOs are changing their tune - after their own spending binge party during Bush’s reign, they have no moral standing left to challenge the Obama obscenities. Only real conservatives are credible defenders of freedom. They did not prostitute themselves to the media. They did not pander to ethnic identity groups.
Turn to the starboard, three hundred sixty degrees.
Ankarlo - miss that dude on 570 KLIF in DFW.
No apology is necessary.
McCain must be purged in 2010.
We already have his little clone running amok in the Senate until 2014.
Two of them...until 2014...or later...that’s a lot of time to do damage, even if Obama and the Democrats are booted by 2012.
