(LIFE WITH BIG BROTHER) National Guard asked to explain 'internment' jobs

Campaign recruiting for workers at 'civilian resettlement facility'

An ad campaign featured on a U.S. Army website seeking those who would be interested in being an "Internment/Resettlement" specialist is raising alarms across the country, generating concerns that there is some truth in those theories about domestic detention camps, a roundup of dissidents and a crackdown on "threatening" conservatives.

The ads, at the GoArmy.com website as well as others including Monster.com, cite the need for:

"Internment/Resettlement (I/R) Specialists in the Army are primarily responsible for day-to-day operations in a military confinement/correctional facility or detention/internment facility. I/R Specialists provide rehabilitative, health, welfare, and security to U.S. military prisoners within a confinement or correctional facility; conduct inspections; prepare written reports; and coordinate activities of prisoners/internees and staff personnel.

The campaign follows by only weeks a report from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security warning about "right-wing extremists" who could pose a danger to the country – including those who support third-party political candidates, oppose abortion and would prefer to have the U.S. immigration laws already on the books enforced.

for regular military jails.

It is perfectly clear that you didn't visit the referenced site. The government clearly indicates "domestic civilian detaines". Go back to sleep.

I did read the story. I see nothing about “domestic civilian detainees”.

I remember when Clinton was about to round us all up, too. Then the libs were sure that Bush was going to round them all up. Now, while I’m sure Obama wishes he could round us all up and put us in camps, it’s never going to happen. There’s still a militia out here.

I miss the old FR “concentration camp” threads from the Clinton era.

Don't forget the crown jewel of the Clinton Camps: Denver International Airport

If you consider the totality of the circumstances: a president telling citizens to shut up; a WH directing citizens to rat other citizens out for disagreeing with a proposed policy; politicans using their positions to harass private citizens (talk radio); deploying union thugs & ACORN to shut down legitimate demonstrations . . .

All of that together makes it difficult to dismiss any suggestion of the government using force against its citizens.

My father was one of the few young people in the 1930s to read Mein Kampf before most Americans had even heard of it. Most Americans wrote that off as tin foil hattery too.

A year ago, the left was telling me that GWB was going to put them in concentration camps. Now the right on board because the administration changed?

Color me skeptical of nutball conspiracy theories coming from either side.

Would you show us that? I don't see it either.

I understand why the military with a population equal to about three of our smallest states needs trained personnel to operate it’s many prisons both here and abroad (including death row prisoners in Kansas)and to also deal with all of the war and refugee and POW situations that it faces and will face in the future.

What I don’t understand is the nut cases that think the military needs trained corrections officers equal to California corrections officers if all the military wants to do is brutalize American civilians.

If you just want to imprison and brutalize civilians wouldn’t just regular non specialized soldiers be perfect for that? Why spend time and money making them professionals able to walk right into the prison system of Maine for instance?

Well the ad doesn’t specify that any particular language skills would be required. So the internment and resettlement job in another part of the world would necessarily have to be an Englsh-speaking part. So let’s see, that covers Canada and Britain, and a wee chunk of South Africa.

On the other hand it’s sort of absurd to think the kindergarteners running the federal government could carryout anything requiring needle-like precision and perfectly-timed orchestration on a massive scale. I suppose at least one advantage of a Big Government is that its managers can become confounded by the tangle of its bureaucracies.

Provide command and control, staff planning, administration/logistical services, and custody/control for the operation of an Enemy Prisoner of War/Civilian Internee (EPW/CI) camp

and farther down;

Provide command and control, staff planning, administration/logistical services, and custody/control for the operation of detention facility or the operation of a displaced civilian (DC) resettlement facility

yes, I read the entire thing twice previous to my post but what I believe the other posters and I were questioning was the stated inclusion of the word ‘domestic’ by the OP in the story. the word ‘domestic’ was nowhere in that story, that I could locate anyway. I think possibly we just saw a different meaning in thw words ‘displaced’ from ‘domestic’, and there is, when used in context of American Armed Forces and American Citizens in the United State itself and a possible interment scenario by such. (I could be wrong on the term inferences, hell it wouldn’t be the first time and I’m sure it wouldn’t be the last)!! I do believe that muslim boy hussein is very capable of directing our armed forces to do such a thing by the way, for any number of reasons. anyway, I do not think this story is as a tin hat foil job as some have infered, it very well could have validity.

Here are some posts from other forums.

“I have looked at the Army website and the Army National Guard website. The MOS 31E reads exactly like the old 95C Confinement MP MOS. Looks like the two older separate MOS categories for MP’s to confine US prisoners or enemy prisoners of war (EPW’s) have been converted to 31E. In the old days the officers were MOS 31A, 31C, or 31D, and the enlisted were 95B (Combat MP), 95C (Confinement MP) & 95D (CID), now all are in the 31 series. Appears to be the same old MOS duties for MP’s that have been around since WW2 to me.”

“The army is looking for internment specialists because they have field artillery working as internment specialists in Iraq and afghanistan. They are putting soldiers in prison in record numbers for killing the enemy. And they can’t keep internment specialists because its a crappy, tough, and thankless job and the army leadership is totally retarded, not to mention treats their soldiers like crap. The internment specialists get tired of being crapped on everyday by the incompetent idiots in charge of military prisons. They are tired of trying to do a job with their hands tied behind their back. So they get out in record numbers. They can’t get enough new internment specialists, not to mention they cut all bonuses, so no one wants to do that job. So they try to con anyone they can into doing it. They have been using MPs (which is a totally different MOS) to staff the prisons for years. They even call up other reserve MOS’s and use them to staff the prisons. Another case of the army can not read the writing on the wall, take care of your people or they will go elsewhere.”

Is it time yet?

Not yet. For one thing, I'm having a heckuva time uploading all the email addies I've collected on FR to the White House database, for another, the camps aren't quite ready yet, which is why we're having to hire so many new guards. Do you know how hard it is to get illegal aliens to string razor wire for you? These guys want union scale, f'Petessake! OSHA's kicking up a fuss about non-air-conditioned machine-gun towers and the Talibunnies are balking because they can't guarantee us the same sweet conditions we gave 'em in Gitmo. Well, at least they're being fair about the thing, but sheesh, what's an Overlord to do?

Good point. I mean, it's not like we have soldiers working on internment and resettlement in Iraq who don't speak Arabic, in the Balkans who don't speak Serbo-Croatian, or in Afghanistan who don't speak Urdu or Pashtun.
