Tensions are running so high at town hall meetings that Rep. David Scott, a Georgia Democrat, yelled at a local doctor concerned about health care after mistaking him for an "astroturf" political operative looking for a fight.
Mr. Scott became visibly agitated when one of his constituents, a practicing doctor, asked a few questions about health care reform during a town hall meeting. The meeting was held to discuss a road project, but was opened up for questions near the end. That's when Dr. David Hill stood up to speak.
Dr. Hill asked Mr. Scott why he was going to vote for a health care plan similar to that implemented in Massachusetts "that is shown not to work" and if he supported a government-provided health care insurance option.
The congressman replied by accusing the doctor of "hijacking" his event.
"I'm listening to my constituents, OK?" Scott said, "These are people who live in the 13th Congressional district, who vote in this district. Thats who Ive got to respond to So what youve got to understand, those of you who are here, who have taken and came and hijacked this event we dealing with here, this is not a health care event."
"You chose to come and to do it on your own," he yelled. "Not a single one of you had the decency to call my office and set up for a meeting." He went on, in a threatening voice, "You want a meeting with me on health care, I'll give it to you!"

Okay, then the DEMOCRATS need to shut up!!!
Lets review:
Who was it that expanded Medicare and Medicaid to cover many, many more people than it was originally designed to cover?
So DEMOCRATS ... SHUT UP!!! You have no integrity!!!
The Town Hall meetings show no signs of letting up.
Here’s the thing. When you drop the big-name hospitals out of this argument....and talk to small-town doctors...they have zero interest in this whole concept. Most admit that they can’t see their continued existence in ten years with the plan...it’ll be big-name hospitals which survive on and flourish under the Obama plan. Competition will be eliminated or absorbed. So these small town doctors are explaining their problem to the customers...democrat and republican.
When you see anxiety amongst the population...especially outside of metro regions of the US....it’s small-town folks of both parties who are asking alot of questions now. These representatives may end up voting for the bill...but their existence after November of 2010 would be questionable. They have guaranteed themselves some opposition and reasons to vote against them.
Sounds as though the Congressman is feeling a little pressure from all sides.
Democrats Pick Up Seats in House and Senate!
-my prediction for the Election of 2010
With all due respect. I don’t think JFK or Truman would want much to do with the Democratic party of the 2000s. JFK was a tax cutting “trickle down” supply sider. Truman envisioned a national healthcare program, but he didn’t have Chicago thugs running his White House. Truman, like Palin is now.. was good people.. the kind of person you could trust after a handshake over some cold beers (with no cameras around, no fake photo ops)
As for LBJ. It is ironic that his medicare program would be destroyed if this bill passes.
How does that work? Even Dingy Harry has competition.
Yeah...”Open Borders”
Gee, I wonder where that little socialist hairball Maurice Hinchey is, who, by the way, at Christ Church in Binghamton NY in November of 1998 said the following “Conservatives remind me of the German Youth of the 30’s...”
You started the Nazi Name calling you twerp. We are not Nazis. we are Liberty loving patriots.
The election process will be co-opted and goonified.
A meeting where they control when the meeting is over and nothing the congress critter says is on tape. Why bother?
How dare a lowly citizen expect his representative to answer a question. I bet he didn’t even avert his eyes when he asked the question.
-my prediction for the Election of 2010
Mine as well. Not because people vote for them, but because of the massive vote rigging ACORN is no doubt already working on. Corrupt Media will do their part as well to make polls appear to show Rats doing well, selective reporting, the usual all bad all the time, demonizing of Republican candidates.
Communists will do ANYTHING to avoid debating the merits of their argument.
“This person has a disease, you’re mean by debating him!”
“This person lost her house! How DARE you argue with her!”
“You’re not black! Don’t you even DARE to talk about this!”
“SHUT UP! You’re not even from here!”
Keep the pressure on. They’re losing and they know it.
The town hall meetings of this August will be goonified by the end of the month. The RATs think they have a winning "frame" by saying people in the meeting are "outsiders" and "agitators". The non-Acorn type.
A few more yelling sessions, even if it's the RATs doing the yelling, and they'll claim they are in danger from some domestic terrorist group, and demand federal marshals, or the 0bama Youth, to keep the peace and take down names and license plates.
Dude, Truman was a leftist, through and through.
Speaking of open borders...
Maybe someone could look up the list of hospitals shut down and chopped up due to non-payment and ER visits of illegals.
Who, in spite of what they tell you, will also be covered ((they’ll put it back in mark-up, ala SCHIP).
Nice post,VERY informative.
I’ve been posting much of the same information the last few days, yours however is a lot more detailed.
I see the writer is using the democrat talking point by saying TH protesters are astroturfing.
You are making FAR to much of ACORNS ability to actually swing an election. What they do is despicable, sure, but when the bright lights are shining on them their effectiveness is greatly curtailed.
Of course I have no idea how many if any the Rep will pick up in 2010 and all anyone can go on is the trend. This year the Rep have picked up 18 State Legislature seats across the nation and they are leading handily so far in the Gov races in both NJ and VA. The pressure is now on the Left and they are clearly on defense. Yours and others here who seem to be throwing their hands up saying “nothing matters because the Democrats will simply manufacture enough votes and win anyway” sounds both defeatist as well as tinfoil hat conspiracy like. The main stream medias ability to sway public opinion has been disastrously reduced and this only hurts the Left. As victory begets victory, so does defeat beget defeat. I believe Obama will NOT get either the Cap and Trade or health care bills he so desperately wants (and needs). he will be then seen as what he really is, ineffective and nothing more then all mouth and no “ass”.
The key is to keep up the pressure and force the Left to get ever more hysterical and outrageous in their own defense.
Unfortunately, a combination of election fraud and a last-minute infusion of stimulus money may accomplish just that.
That is a very optimistic view and I hope you are right.
My worry is the $650 billion in stimulus funds that might very well be held back for use right before the election.
Vote buying par excellance.
Might be held back ...? Of course it will be held back until then. But sometimes politicians can be to clever by half. What will ultimately hurt the Democrats badly is their truly astounding hubris. They seem to have no problem telling even their own followers they are simply not smart enough to think for themselves.
I frankly believe it impossible for lie to be piled upon lie and hypocrisy upon hypocrisy without a price being paid. If I am wrong then the American people are as stupid as the Democrats believe they are and will get just what they deserve. Unfortunately there are those of us who are aware and will have to suffer along with them. Personally, I don’t worry about it much as I’m over 60 and I’ve got mine. I need not depend on the government for a thing. I do feel bad for the kids and grand kids but I did warn them of what was to come should the Kenyan be elected. Three in my family voted for the guy, two have renounced their vote and the 3rd won’t talk about it.
We are a divided country, if you look at the tracking polls, with half the country consisting either of stupid dupes or people who are too lost in their own little world to have anything but the most superficial idea of what’s going on.
Either/or? I know plenty of people who have both these character flaws and are completely oblivious to any suggestion their thinking may be wrong headed regarding the Kenyan and his Chicago Thugocracy.
The Dems/Leftists/fascists fail to understand who is opposing them. It’s us senior citizen military vets. We don’t take crap from anyone. By labeling us “Nazis” all they do is piss us off more and make us protest even more loudly. But then, Libs have always hated the military.
You are correct...the two categories are NOT mutually exclusive by any means!
Truman pushed to have the US as the FIRST Nation to fully recognize the then-new State of Israel.
WHere does that fit the lefty model?
The folks who are in both categories absolutely baffle me. How do you live your day-to-day life under conservative principles, yet swear by opposite values at the national level?
Do they believe that principles change the way they behave as you go from the personal level to the state and national level?
Nathan, you are exactly right. There is only so much phony voting ACORN can carry out. And in conservative mostly-white House districts in the South, the ones that helped put Pelosi in as Speaker in 2006, ACORN would have little or no influence to rig elections in these type of suburban districts.
While I don’t think there’s a lot of pick up opportunities in the Senate other than perhaps Dodd and Specter (if Specter is the Dems’s nominee in PA) and maybe the open seat in Illinois, I think we could easily see a 30-35 seat turnover in the House, assuming voters stay angry, among these so called Blue Dog Democrats who have turned into major phonies—and their conservative constituents know it too.
