GUADALAJARA, Mexico President Barack Obama pressed for a new tone in the United States' relationship with Mexico but found no immediate progress Sunday on the divisions between him and Mexican President Felipe Calderon over the pace of U.S. drug-fighting aid and a ban on Mexican trucks north of the border.
Obama kicked off his second trip to Mexico as president with a friendly 45-minute meeting with Calderon that touched on the vast trade relationship between their two countries, their cooperation on swine flu and the violent Mexican gangs dominating the drug trade on both sides of the border. Their talks came before the start of a lightning-quick three-way summit between the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Often called the "Three Amigos" summit, the meeting of Obama, Calderon and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper began over dinner at a cultural institution in this town near the mountains.

Dos XX ‘s summit
What Would Teddy Roosevelt Do?
Bush was friendly with Mexico. New tone huh?
Right, but I guess that we have to do even more for them under Obama.
What was wrong with the old tone? I didn’t realize we had strained relations with our neighbor to the south.
Weren’t the original three amigos incredibly stupid?
Lets see, what else can Obama do with his new tone. How about move all the rest of GM's operations to Mexico? Discount bus fare for Mexican drug dealers and frequent crosser, "fast cards" so that they aren't inconvenienced at the border with inspections every time.
Sounds like the same ol’ tone to me. Bush was cozy with Fox and with Calderon. Mexico has its problems, but it isn’t Venezuela or Cuba. This isn’t exactly anything new, but we peons are supposed to think it represents “change,” and AP is more than happy to accommodate with sending facts down the memory hole.
10% of Mexicans are already in the United States awaiting citizenship and the chance to vote Democrat.
Obama is down there trying to get the rest of them.
Oh, once we drop the whole concept of immigration laws, agree to have most of our laws made by Mexican Big Guys, and promise to turn over most of the taxes of the United States to the deserving people of Mexico, why then relations will be just fine. Of course, assuming the next American President's name ends in "-ez".
Things will be just dandy after all that.
That Swine Flu sure is a pressing matter.
NEW TONE..!! I like that...! I can hear the laughing all the way from TJ...
The naivete is...breathtaking....!!
Well apologizing to every half-azzed tinpot dictator hasn’t achieved the accolades obamination got in Germany so maybe he could cut to the chase and surrender to mexico.
Bush was the best friend in the WH that Mexico has ever had in history. But the Mexicans blew it.
Make that VICENTE FOX
Maybe I am misrmembering, but didn’t Pres. Bush have a positive relationship with Pres. Fox? I can’t remember Bush having been involved in any negativity with Mexico. With Americans who want to protect our borders, Yes, but not with Mexico.
But most assuredly Mr.O favors U. S. Taxpayer-funded medical care/treatment for any Mexican that can find his/her way across the border into the LOST NORTHERN PROVINCES.
New Tone....Mexico opens it’s borders to American workers looking for a job??
Bingo - the House healthcare bill covers illegals in the U.S.
How long does anyone think it will take those illegals already here to send for their extended families once
the US Taxpayer is on the hook for all Doc and Hospital
visits?
Doesn't Hussein understand who's in charge now?
You may have a point there, lets see.
Obama gave a press conference to only Mexican Press, where he promised amnesty will be introduced in Sept. and passed by the end of the year.

Obama Makes a Huge Promise

A New Tone? No one could love Mexico more than George W. Bush. I’m pretty sure if 9/11 had never happened we would have had amnesty for illegals (or at least illegals from Mexico). So does this mean Obama is going to get tough with them? No, of course not.
“Mexico has its problems, but it isnt Venezuela or Cuba.”
It’s not communist, no. But it seems Mexico is on the fast track to becoming some kind of failed narco-state.
