Lloyd Doggett says no provision for Congress to have same health care as American Public

In a very orderly discussion of the Health care issue on Saturday 8/8/2009 Congressman Doggett was asked about mandating all Congressmen, Senators, government workers and the President to be required to use the same health plan as the American Public.

His committee has studied health care for 2 years but says that such provisions are not part of the overall plan.

Both sides of the healthcare reform issue cheered when this was brought up to the Congressman.

Shouldn't our President and ALL federal government workers be required to have the same health plan that they pass for the American people?

Because the proponents for healthcare reform are not leaders. I know a couple of rank and file Dems who believe in healthcare reform who would enroll in the system. Atleast I will respect their example, but their party politicians refuse to enroll in such a system. That is a red flag, no different from a restuarant owner who refuses to eat at his own establishment. Imagine how the tone of the debate would change if Obama, his cabinet/staff and the Dem Congress/Senate are willing to enroll in the system they propose.

If they did, they would find someway to weasel out in the dead of night. I simploy don’t trust them.

This is the same man whose rally I attended on August 6th and was escorted out of the building and made to go out on the street sidewalk with my sign at 106 degrees. He is a “company man” and the company is “Obamanation, the taking over American freedoms and American people. See:

In Canada...the elected “officials” find ways to get put to the FRONT of the line....I lived there for awhile, and it was quite the controversy when it was reported.

Even if Congress were covered under the same system they wouldn't be treated the same. I would expect them to be able to call at 9 AM and get a 10 AM appointment at Bethesda, which I couldn't do now and definitely wouldn't be able to do after the law.

Even knowing the fact that they wouldn't really be rationed like we will be, they still won't risk it. It says a lot about the difference between the royalty and the serfs.

During a recent Hannity town meeting a congressman state his old private health insurance was better than the one currently provided to congress. I find it hard to believe.

The question should instead be posed, “Why not provide all Americans the same excellent coverage & quality of care our Congress & President receive?”. To paraphrase a Republican Senator “I wouldn't subject my dog to Obamacare much less my family”.

Depends. I do know that the Federal Blue Cross-Blue Shield Plan is better than my State Blue Cross, Blue Shield. However, now that I am past 65, I must be on Medicare and keep Federal Blue Cross-Blue Shield as a secondary policy.

Just the elected officials ~ they should also be placed on “experimental subject” lists. Be good for ‘em.

The way the system will work (if passed, which I believe will not happen) is that government employees will be free to retain their present health insurance plan provided they have no "life changes".

At that point they will be moved into the "government system".

Now what's a "life change? Well, that's marriage, divorce, relocation to take a different job (within the government), but in a place not covered by your current plan.

In short, the "exception" for government employees and retirees is TOTAL BS.

A Prescription for the Goose… The Coburn amendment would force members of Congress to use ObamaCare.

"Let's demonstrate leadership -- and confidence in the system -- by requiring that every member of Congress go into it," Mr. Coburn told his colleagues as they were marking up the health care proposal championed by Senator Ted Kennedy. His idea wasn't exactly greeted warmly by many public plan supporters. Senator Jeff Bingaman, a New Mexico Democrat, responded: "I don't know why we should require ourselves to participate in a plan that no one else needs to participate in. This bill goes to great lengths to show that the choice is there for everybody."

By a 12 to 11 margin, the Senate Health Committee agreed. Senator Chris Dodd, the committee's acting chairman, and Senator Kennedy were absent from the committee but sent in proxy votes in favor. Maryland Senator Barbara Mikulski was the only other Democrat to back the measure. Every Republican save for New Hampshire's Judd Gregg voted in favor of the Coburn mandate.

Congressmen Who Vote for Government-Run Health Care Agency Should Be Its First Customers, Legislation Says

Rep. John Fleming (R-La.) introduced a bill Monday that urges members of Congress who vote to create a government-run health insurance agency to give up their own comprehensive health insurance plans to join the new the public option they advocate for others.

The bill, H. Res. 615, says members of Congress who vote for a government-run health care bureau should become the inaugural customers of government-run health-care.

These people need to be reminded that they work for US, and not the other way around.
Arrogant bastards are in need of a good beating. They know it too. That's why they are afraid to hold meetings with their constituents.

Did the King and Queen in days of old have the same medical care as their subjects?

Of course not.

The President and Congress are America’s royalty. They deserve the best health care the taxpayers money can buy for them.
