About 40 rioters in a Paris suburb hurled Molotov cocktails at police and firefighters and torched cars in a rampage prompted by the death of a teen fleeing police. The interior minister called Monday for calm after the overnight violence.
One person fired at police with a handgun during the rioting in a housing project in Bagnolet on the eastern edge of Paris, Interior Minister Brice Hortefeux said in a statement. No injuries were reported.
The latest eruption of tensions in France's suburbs broke out after an 18-year-old riding his motorcycle through the project tried to flee a document check by police, according to a police official.
The man, who worked as a pizza deliveryman, lost control of the vehicle and hit a barrier. He died en route to the hospital, the official said.

Problems of this nature would be reduced substantially immediately upon showing that such a policy would be enforced.
The banlieues are a testing ground for jihad in Europe. It’s not so much concern for France as it is trying to determine how Europe will respond (if at all) to its Islamisation.

That’s the problem with the French - the brave ones were removed from the gene pool. The French Revolution, The Napoleonic Wars, The Franco-Prussian War, World War I, World War II, Dien Bien Phu all took their toll. Now the only ones left are .....

The point I was making was that the Riots were NOT stopped and the rioters were allowed to burnout businesses in their areas just like ins now happening in France
I went with my father to visit Omaha Beach where he went in and the French people in the rural areas were very gracious and proud. The urban areas were a completely different thing. Insufferably nobbish, arrogant and dismisive. It was almost like visiting our Congress.

And what city in America is being torched on an almost daily basis by mulims, or anyone for that matter? When have riots broken out with muslims tossing molotov cocktails at police and firemen? If they start doing this I stand behind our police shooting them full of holes when they are actively engaged in rioting and endangering others lives.

No. I was just agreeing with him. Anything wrong with that? That’s what we do in the States when people riot. If the French had any balls they would be more like us. There was a similar riot in Miami years back that involved a motorcyclist killed by the police. The French should look at our example there to determine what the proper example is.

But you never know. I could have been employing sarcasm.
I think if I were being sarcastic, the sarcasm might have been aimed at the fact that he was requiring something of France that we would never do in the US.
Some people just like to hate ‘the other guy’. Not that I see anything like that happening here. Nathan Zachary usually posts very postitive things about the French. I think he is just incensed to see the Muslims running amok in what is otherwise a country he feels positively about.
Actually, from what I’ve seen and read, the French Army has everything in common with them - Excellent courage, training, and equipment. They definitely have better combat doctrine than the “Morale is to firepower as ten is to one” that sent hundreds of thousands to their death.
NEVER confuse the the French military with the French political “leadership.” (And, right now, they may actually have some good political leadership...)
