MEXICO CITY U.S. refineries bought millions of dollars worth of oil siphoned from Mexican government pipelines and smuggled across the border in some cases by drug cartels expanding their reach. At least one U.S. oil executive has pleaded guilty to a conspiracy that involved what prosecutors said was about $2 million in stolen Mexican oil, U.S. Justice Department officials confirmed to The Associated Press.

What am I missing here?
How do you smuggle oil in any significant quantity?
One barrel at a time.
**How do you smuggle oil in any significant quantity?**
Not really sure, but seeing our own government won’t let us get our OWN OIL ... we’ll have to get it from SOMEWHERE!!
You may be on to something..
“In Mexico, federal police commissioner Rodrigo Esparza said the Zetas, a fierce drug gang aligned with the Gulf cartel, used false import documents to smuggle tanker loads of oil to unnamed U.S. refineries.”
Tells you something about the state of Mexico’s state oil monopoly—PEMEX.
“Huh? What am I missing here? How do you smuggle oil in any significant quantity?”
They put a barrel inside each bale of pot they smuggle...

It’s the NEW version of the Aztec Two Step...
Well..won’t this manufactured scandal go nicely with Obama’s takeover of the US Oil Industry next...(eye roll)
I love it.
They send us their illegals.
We take the oil we need to supply those illegals.
I say: TAKE EVEN MORE! (oil I mean. not illegals)
A trailer and pup will get you about 12,000 gallons at a clip.
Obambi's fault !!!
Well, does this mean we are going to declare a War on Oil and Obama is going to appoint an Oil Czar?
Each Mexican sneaking across the border has to carry a quart of oil with him. :-).
Seriously that's about 133 tanker loads at current price and a lot fewer than that at last years price.
Tankers and barges with fake paperwork.
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA !
GDO. It’s in the bible.

Pay-back for all the illegals???
Excellent choice in reading, Elsie!
I guess the oil was paid for with assualt rifles and grenade launchers. Why are drug cartels smuggling oil anyway...is crude oil worth more than cocaine and heroin? Something doesn't add up.

Neither candidate for president was telling the truth these days because both believe global warming is real and both kept blathering on about “alternative” energy. The big problem for the rest of us is that you can’t pour wind or solar energy into a gas tank.
With 12-30 million illegals coming in, each one is required to carry one gallon under one arm and one friend under the other!
15% of U.S. imported oil comes from Mexico.
If Mexico had an American company run their oil business, the government of Mexico would see production and profits skyrocket.
“How do you smuggle oil in any significant quantity?”
They put cocaine in condoms and swallow them, or stuff them into other orifices. Could work...
Good, it can be Mexico’s down payment on illegal immigration costs.
The Fair-Tax crowd should take note of this.
Gives the derogatory term “greaser” a whole new meaning, eh?
If this is deemed over the top PC wise, feel free to delete.
They can smuggle in thier pot. They can smuggle in their illegal aliens. But when they smuggle in their OIL, they have gone too far.
Wasn’t Obama just in Mexico? I guess this settles it, he wants to control the oil industry next.
I had read a review of one of his books in the newspaper, and it had an excerpt from it: as I read it, I could SMELL the rain on the rocks and the fragrance of the juniper bushes! (I was already hooked on the desert anyway)
I’ve read everything of his I could get may hands on!
His death last year was a shock - realizing that the descriptions of the area and the peoples would no longer be coming from his fertile mind.
It’s time for me, a mere flatland Hoosier boy; to return for my bi-yearly fix of DISTANCE!
Yep. Nothing like the desert just before and just after a rain. There is no way I can describe living here, except I don’t want to leave.
I love the heat and the climate, and even the weather at it’s nastiest. Hillerman was an excellent author, and I, too, have all his books. I can “experience” them!!
Well, that explains the illegal/amnesty non-action issue for the past 10 years...
