Now that Al Gores two jailed employees have been retrieved by Bill Clinton from North Korea, theres talk of a seven-figure book deal for their story, with the U.Ks Daily Mail speculating about a movie deal to follow. It would be interesting to hear in full the tale of Laura Ling and Euna Lee. But from the little we have heard so far, it seems at least one of them Laura Ling did deliberately cross into North Korea.
This was folly of enormous magnitude. That act has already cost Americans, by way of winning for Kim Jong Il the propaganda coup of snapping his fingers and having a former U.S. president jet in for an audience with Kim in Pyongyang. Whether additional ransom or concessions to Kim were involved, we wait to find out but it would come as no surprise. Did Ling and Lee, both described as journalists, not notice that the border in the area where they were traveling is edged every few hundred yards with sentry huts, manned by armed North Korean guards?
While no one deserves the terror of being subjected to North Koreas version of justice, there is something that feels simply wrong about the prospect that the two women, now safely home, stand to make a killing out of their story...

I knew this was coming....if they want to take a chance as journalists to make a big name for themselves and big bucks, let them take their chances!
and Americans still don’t have an explanation of all what happened!
Any proceeds these women make should be used to reimburse the costs of having to retrieve them from that cesspool.
The other idea was that they should donate any money they make completely to those who are trying to rescue N Koreans and to relocate them to a safe haven.
If these women make personal money on the blood of N Koreans, they should be publicly shamed! The article said they may have had information on them about N Koreans who had escaped. Yeesh.
Could be written more authoritatively by any one of the several hundred thousand North Koreans who have endured and survived the ‘Real’ NK Prison Experience.
Bump for that idea! However..you just know they are going to ‘donate’ it to fight globull warming..lol.
Americans do have an explanation available of what happened. If they are interested.
However, many of them seem incapable of reading or searching the internet
The two woman worked for Current TV.
Current TV is owned by Al Gore.
Why did Al Gore send them to be captured in North Korea ?
Was Al Gore using them as pawns in order to start an international incident ?
They were researching something many, many groups are checking into. Including a fair amount of Christian organizations. Of course it is dangerous. Likely it is personally important to these two women.
Had Weird Al not hired them, some one else would have.
Call weird Al on his weird socialist crap. Not when he is involved in simple human decency for once in his politically calculating life.
Please provide a link and I would be interested in seeing it.
There are a number of articles up on them. This one is from the Goracle's site I believe. While gore has tried to wrap this efforts to help in lefty lunacy, The sale of women (and young boys I guess i should add)as slaves, child brides, and prostitutes remains a serious problem in many parts of the world.
Here is another recent article on the problem (as seen in Africa) from a Christian news site -
Call the left wing out on their socialism. But if you make a knee jerk attack every time you see the name of a left wing politician named, you open yourself up to making yourself in particular and their opposition in general look bad from time to time. This is one of those times.
That is rather naive to say the least.
Do you believe everything you read on a left wing website ?
That is rather naive to say the least.
