For years, the Bush administration was criticized for not cleaning up enough of the nation's most contaminated waste sites. The Obama administration plans to do even less.
Environmental groups and some Democratic lawmakers railed against President George W. Bush's cleanup record. But this time, they're shying away from speaking out against a popular president who's considered an ally in the fight to clean up the environment. Associated PressFewer EPA cleanups are planned under the administration of President Barack Obama, above.
In Obama's first two years in office, the Environmental Protection Agency expects to begin the final phase of cleanup at fewer Superfund sites than in any administration since 1991, according to budget documents and agency records.

Surprised the AP published this.
Human rights and environment are always the first victims of communism and marxism.
How dare the Associated Press criticize the Kenyan! I think I’ll have to turn them to Obama’s SS at flag@whitehouse.gov.
Bush’s fault. < /sarc >
WHAT A GREENWASHED HYPOCRITE
Republicans hate the planet and want everyone to die, even when they do good things.
Democrats have good INTENTIONS, so their not doing good things is overlooked.
Liberalism is a mental disorder.
This was bad before. But now it’s OK! Yay.
I love sarcasm.
The Greenies needed the conservatives to even have something to distort.
Shoot, now that we are battling global warming, er climate change, with such desperate wasteful measures as the clunkers program, we are now addressing the Root of the Environmental Evil and we need not worry about such little things as toxic heavy metal chemical spills leaching into drinking water. Queen Gaia will see to that in her own good sweet time!
Racist!!
This way there will be more toxic waste sites for the next GOP administration to be blamed for not cleaning up.
That article shut my envior-whacko husband up. He always insisted that Bush and Cheney were “ruining the planet” with toxic waste and pollutants from their “friends in the oil business”. For once he was speechless.
Most government money is poured down a rathole, but the bang for the buck of cleaning up most “toxic” waste sites has to be on the very lowest end of the scale. The actual threat that these sites pose to human health is usually minimal.
Does he vote Donkey? If so, did this article spur him to question his political affiliation? A lot of envirowhackos are single-issue types, and when they get disillusioned about their pet issue they can be reasoned with. ...unless they head on over to the Green Party.
Ah, I should’ve looked at your profile page before posting.
The GOP will have a lot more to clean up than toxic waste!
