If the movie was about Obama brown shirts invading a town, now that would a least have a semblance of credibility.
To: Flavius
I loved that movie. I think it was the first time I saw Patrick Swayze in a movie.

form an insurgency" ?!?!?
Does anyone remember it being called an insurgency back then? Are they attempting to create a freedom fighter like connection in the public mind?

What is it with Hollyweird and all the remakes?

you are right! They need to re write the story , bring it into current reality.
Washington IS invaded by communists and marxists and the boys have to put on suits to save the America that once stood tall and prevent the creation of a totalitarian state. They have to battle the evil politicians striving to destroy everything that America stood for by taking control of every major industry while stripping the rights, freedom and liberty of the masses. Its a tall order but can they save the nation?
To: Recovering Hermit
Fine. Don't go see the remake.

It will last about a week or two and then end up on video. I attended the first showing with my fellow Field Grade Officers at the Post Theater and to us it was laughable. The first one may have a following, but nothing like Blade Runner or Gone With the Wind. The first Red Dawn was boring. If they play it like the last one with massive CGs it may perk it up. A future invasion of the USA by China and Russia would best be played out by a huge multi prong land assault over the Arctic Plain. Lets see what they come up with. I think the money could be been better spent on something Historical rather than Hysterical.

Red Dawn was enjoyable because the Americans triumphed over the evil invaders. Hoping for the same in the remake and the Russo-Chinese invasion is more credible than the Latin invasion.
Latins don’t need guns, they just walk over the border. They have more relatives here than they do at home.

The remake will portray the Americans as the bad guys.
Transgenedered Latina muslim UAW/SEIU/ACORN lesbians will be the victims of oppression and heroes.
Why does Tom Cruise son look half black? Is he adopted or a turkey baster child? Suri looks awfully Asian too.
Tom does not play for the home team like Kenny Chesney, Clooney, Crist and Lindsay Garaham.

I guess they ran out of 80s television shows and have moved on to “iconic” 80s movies. I’ll bet they make the Americans and U.S. military out to be the bad guys and the quisling mayor a good guy.
“Footloose” and “Red Dawn”, and I’m sure there will be more.

We were talking about “Red Dawn” here on FR, not long after the election. But, Red Dawn was made in the Cold War era. (I saw it when I was a teen myself, and back then we loved it.) We really did fear the Russians back then.
Today’s enemies are Islamic terrorists, but I guess Hollywood won’t make a movie about them. And it’s hard to imagine Hollywood making a movie today about kids arming themselves, hiding in the hills, planning and carrying out attacks.

Remakes are easy and there isn't much creative talent left in Hollywood. There are a few guys good with special effects and the like. But write a good screenplay? Forget it! Very few people are left who can write a screenplay. There are even less people who can make serious movies about the times we live in. In fact almost none.
Hollywood is often called the creative community . What a *ucking joke! It's about the most uncreative community around today. They make TV Shows and Movies from old rerun TV shows and old movies.
That said I think Red Dawn was one of the worst movies I think I've ever seen. The film was crap and I think most intelligent people knows this.

There’s been a lot of shooting in Detroit for some time now.
Also, any remake of this movie is bound to fail - today’s girly man attitude won’t transition to a “shoot ‘em in the face” type film.

This time it won’t be commie invaders, it will be right-wing racist, sexist, homophobic extremists clinging to their guns and Bibles. The Wolverines will save America for the workers and the glory of National Socialism and, while they’re at it, they will save the Earth from Global Warming.

Adopted. Both kids are adopted. Are you sure? I don't pay attention to celebumoron news; but you couldn't avoid the media innundation of stories about Katie Holmes carrying Tom Cruise's child. The presstitutes went nuts trying to get pictures of Surri (sp?).
Whether or not the kid is his, I think the official story is, "he's the father."
