I just returned from Zoe Lofgren's Townhall meeting. (Calif Dist. 16) It was held in the Almaden Community Center generally an upper middle class neighborhood. I have to give her guts for showing up.
Initially they only allowed 200 people in the room and locked the doors on about 150 people left out in the hall. The San Jose police were in a bit of a quandry as to what to do but eventually just as the meeting started they let us in for SRO in the back.
The crowd was 95% anti big government healthcare. (I think the other 5% were afraid to talk) The audience knew the bill better than Ms. Lofgren and became vocal everytime she tried to mask what was in the bill. All of the right questions were asked with her being accused of being a lier or imcompetent as the crowd followup. Best question of the night award goes to a young lady who asked how in the world Ms. Lofgren expected the Feds to run health care when Tenn., Mass., and Hawaii have all failed. Got a standing ovation. The 2 hour meeting lasted about 45 minutes when a lady finally walked to the front of the room and slammed the whole bill down on the table for Zoe to look at as she did not seem to be aware of what was in it. Ending the meeting here was OK as everything that needed to be said was said.
She was escorted out the back of the hall by SJPD to chants of VOTE NO! by the 450 people there.
When is she up for re-election?

Nice! Judging by your description it was textbook: Nail the congressclunker with questions, not shouting, but the crowd is vocal and makes their displeasure crystal clear.

She’s a Representative so it would be 2010.
One lady made it clear to Ms. Lofgren, we put her there, we can get rid of her.

I’m in Morgan Hill down the road from you, which is represented by McNerney. I called his office a couple of days ago to find out when he would hold his townhall meeting. His flunky said he wasn’t going to because he’s too busy.

Wish I could have been there. Left town today for work. I will probably see her this month though and I will gently ask a question or two.

Why would any Congress critter waste his/her time reading the ObamaCare bill? They are too busy having a great time in Washington DC. Plus the staffers read bills and give a synopsis

This is unbelievable. Right here on the Left Coast, as they say. Man they just stomped on him. The former Head Nurse Instructor from Hartnell College got up and said: you do realize that People of Conscience will have to leave the profession, right? That hospitals from organizations of conscience will have to close...like Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, a Catholic hospital.

It was my first association and protest rally with the Freepers. I’ve had these pics on file since the guy in the picture (dressed as “General Chang”) sent them to me. This rally took place in December of 1998.

Same thing in San Jose tonight. Another thing that is neat is the opposition (good guys and gals) are very sophisticated in those parts of CA. Like the lady who read the bill and slammed it on the table for Zoe. Priceless.

In video 1 she mentions at 3:25 that AARP is in support of Obama DeathCare and the crowd boo’ed her.
On video 2 at 9:04 she is asked why illegals are getting free healthcare - she says they are not and some guy says that is not true.
The questions were excellent. I enjoyed seeing several people holding up copies of the bill that they’d obviously read. Not so sure Zoe had read anything other than Nancy’s cheat sheet based on her canned responses.

Here is another one in GA tonight in a swing to Dem distict near Atlanta. About 3,000 people were waiting in line! Look like a college and the line snaked around for probably a mile.

This is great news. The one question that I have not heard been asked yet is if this is such a great bill for us Americans why is congress exempt? Congress has to know about this add on. Daniel Hannan the MEP from England even questioned how the taxpayers could accept this when he was on Glen Beck the other night.

I really appreciate your report- these overdressed, overpaid little perfumed princes need to hear more from the people they allegedly "represent," and less from that echo chamber in non-flyover country.
Hell, my wife's a former Democrat, and the things she's read in this Bill whose Name is Everchanging scare her to death-- most of the people we hold near and dear would be denied coverage.
