GLENROCK, Wyo. - A 76-year-old Wyoming man shot with a Taser by police while driving an antique tractor in a small-town parade says it hurt but he's OK.
Retired truck driver Bud Grose of Glenrock told The Associated Press in a telephone interview on Wednesday that he has a heart condition but didn't require any medical attention.
Investigators say police in Glenrock used a Taser on the man after he disobeyed orders. They say the tractor may have hit a car.
Two officers were placed on paid leave and state agents are investigating, but the police chief says it doesn't appear any policies were violated.
Grose wouldn't discuss specifics of the incident until he speaks to his attorney.

“Tractor’n while white...”
Absolutely shocking!
It may have hit a car?
So the obvious solution is to disable the driver of a moving vehicle, and instantly turn it into an out of control vehicle.
That was smart.
From the comments section;
“ The gentleman that was driving the tractor was at the end of the parade route which was 2 blocks from city park. The tractor pull was to start right after the parade in city park. All of the tractors headed down the hill to city park to participate in the tractor pull. Officer Travenous decided that Mr Gross was not following the route back to the staging field from the beginning of the parade and this was not acceptable. Officer Travenous then raced around the tractor and pulled in front of the tractor which had an 8 year old child in the tractor seat and pulling a trailer with numerous children and senior citizens on it. The driver of the tractor tried to stop but could not causing him to hit the police car that had just pulled in front of him. This caused all of the people on the trailer to go flying forward. The officer then proceeded to jump out of his car...jump on the tractor and start beating Mr. Grose about the head with his tazer...then proceded to taze him....then pulled out his stun gun and began using it on him. Mr Grose has numerous burns and bruises. All the while an 8 year old boy was on the tractor beside Mr. Grose. I am still very confused on the Chief of Police of Glenrocks statement that his officers did no wrong. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! And to top it off several other officers and deputy sherrifs raced thru the parade route past hundreds of small children in the street picking up candy....because they felt this was an emergency to help their fellow officer beat up a 76 year old man who had done something wrong by driving 5 miles an hour on an antique tractor toward city park. “
Well, that’s what he GETS for not following the proper route.... Jackbootlick/off>
More union thugs. This time with badges and guns!
Good Lord.
Someone needs a 2x4 up side the head for this one.
Exactly — and apparently it’s not just the big city cops.
Badge-lickers, badge-lickers, report to the Quarterdeck for duty on the double...
Oh deere.
What appears to be the only comment not critical of the police

look at the education floating around these comments....didn't anyone learn anything from the president the other day. NO ONE has all the facts and EVERYONE should let DCI complete the investigation before they spew their hatred with no regard to the fact that these people put there lives on the line every day to protect us and in this country are inicent until proven guilty and should be treated that way. “ What’s not pointed out clearly above is that the 76 yr old man was actually driving the tractor when he was tasered - he was not stopped! The senior citizens riding in the trailer behind the tractor were yelling at the cop to stop, yelling that the man had a bad heart and was hard of hearing. After the man’s son arrived on the seen, he was subdued from attending to his dad by yet another officer, who told the son that he would put him in jail for intereference. Keep in mind that these two cops were “eff’ing” this and that the entire time towards this old man. Guess that senior citizen was pretty dangerous riding that ‘ole tractor - not. “

“ As someone who saw the incident occur and can say that what happened was nothing more than a police officer on a serious power trip. The gentleman who was tasered is a wonderful member of this community and was doing nothing to warrant such an attack by a trained officer of the law. I believe these officers are to “protect and serve”. In this instance no one was protected but instead assaulted and the officer served no one but himself and his own ego! The officers involved should be relieved of their duties immediately in order to protect the the citizens of Glenrock from any further degradation and injury! “

“ From what I saw at the parade on Saturday, the two officers were way out of control. You don’t speed through a heavy-pedestrian area in a vehicle like that. They almost hit several kids. There was no rush. The tractor was crawling along. You don’t yell the F word twenty times around little kids. And you don’t beat up an old man like this. If Bud had committed a crime, he would have been charged. He wasn’t. This was just plain old stupidity on the part of those two officers. Paid administrative leave is not enough. Fire them. “
All I can say is “wow”. If these spectators are telling the truth, the cops heads should roll.
No one can hear someone while on a tractor especially someone hard of hearing. There was a boy beside the mad. Bad judgment on the part of the cops. It isn't like he was going to run to the state line.
Good thing the driver didn’t have a dog in the car.
Er, tractor.
Cops sure love to use their toys don’t they.
Here’s a story about the police chief apologizing for the incident. Note the comments from this site...
This reminds me of an encounter I once had with a police officer who exhibited extreme out-of-control rage concerning an entirely safe and normal driving maneuver I made on private property. Fortunately tasers weren’t around then. These kind of people are drawn to police work and are not always screened out. The guy I ran into was fired not long after for demanding sexual favors from a female parolee he was supervising.
"a male disobeyed a cop and got tased rightly so! what difference does it make that hes 76?"
Respect my authoritah!
Good grief! The comments on the officer.com site are vile. A representative example:
Do what the police say and you wont get tased

First i would like to know why Mr.Pyatt is a former police officer. Second people get hung up on the age of the 76 year old if he would have done what he was told nothing would have happened. As for the man who was shoved by the police, MOVE. But the most importane thing is people forget that older people kill police too. The are several videos of 70 and 80 year old men producing guns and killing cops because they thought what could this old guy do.
This is because older people don't get out much. When they do, and they encounter a typical cop thug, they react appropriately for their frame of reference.
Besides all that, how was the parade?
