I don’t believe so, but either way, it was uncalled for. If she had wanted to avoid the topic, she could have done so politely by just saying that she hadn’t studied the issue, so couldn’t really comment on it. But she didn’t do that. She chose instead to insult those of us who think the POTUS should be required to follow the eligibility requirements of the constitution. And this coming from a lawyer who claims to be a conservative.

Comrade O is qualified if you believe that his mama Sidney was an American citizen. If she was (and I have never seen anyone express credible claims to the contrary) then she passed citizenship by birth to him even if she gave birth to him on Saturn or Jupiter or on the heavenly body formerly known as the planet Pluto.

There are those who point out that there may have been a statute then that would say that an 18-20 year old American woman would not be able to pass birthright natural citizenship to her child by a foreign citizen father while an American father of the same age would be able to pass such Natural born American citizenship to his child by a foreign citizen mother. If you imagine that such a statute would be found constitutional today, that must be good stuff you are smoking. Statutes must have rational public policy grounds. You wanna try to explain the rational basis for such a distinction??? If anything, in those pre-DNA days, maternity was more certain than paternity and a better standard of citizenship by birth.

Ann is a fake conservative????? More likely, Ann is not a Bircher, or not a Birther, or not a 9/11 Truther or not some other variety of moonbat posing as a conservative without justification.

I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt, though I classify myself as a "birther".

I'm thinking that she needs to take that stance, though she may be secretly a "birther".

As a very high-profile columnist and commentator and author, she needs to maintain her credibility. I'm not saying that the "birther" movement doesn't have credibility, but, Ann could not have committed herself to the movement unless she was 100% certain that Obama was in fact not "a natural born American". If she had committed herself to the movement and it's later proven that Obama was "in fact" born in the U.S., she and a lot of others would have lost a major part of their credibility.

The regular Joe Blow "birther" out here would not have as much to lose as a Coulter, or an O'reilly, and we can take bigger chances than them with our theories. The risk to those people is a lot greater than to us regular folk out here. Imagine that she did in fact reveal herself to be a "birther". and it's later proven that Obama was a natural born American. Then, imagine that she writes a book in which she tries to take on the liberals and Obama and their agenda, like we know she has in the past. The people with "CDS" (Coulter Derangement Syndrome) would have a field day destroying her credibility and her book as having been written by "a loony birther".

So, that's why I believe that Coulter could not have joined the movement even though she might secretly want or believe in the "birther" movement.

Do you read? HIS MOTHER WAS A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN. SO IS HE by being born to a citizen, no matter where he was born. Sidney Ann never renounced her citizenship. He may also be a British citizen or a Kenyan citizen based on his father's citizenship. We allow dual citizenship. Elizabeth Taylor is a British, American and Israeli citizen. I can claim Irish citizenship and British citizenship and probably Canadian citizenship under the laws of those countries and, if I do, my children can claim through me. I do not intend to do this unless a kid insists (probably on Irish citizenship).

Birth in the United States makes one a citizen regardless of the nationality of the parents unless the parents were diplomats not subject to American jurisdiction by diplomatic immunity. Whether or not Comrade O was born in the US, he is a natural born citizen if ONE parent was a citizen at the time of his birth. Case closed. You are being suckered. The editors of National Review, Annie and most observers on the right have figured out the foregoing. You don't get to define constitutional terms your way just because you want to or find eccentric definitions convenient.

If you disagree, please cite the exact language of the constitution which you imagine justifies your claim that ANY candidate "would be required to produce a long form birth certificate".

Many people also "looked the other way" on the late George Romney (born in Mexico to Americans who had moved there) and Lowell P. Weicker, Jr., (born to Americans in Paris on business). McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone when his father was stationed there in his military officer capacity. None of them were black guys. If you think that the situation is different from those three because one of Comrade O's parents was a foreigner, please cite the exact language of the constitution which you imagine justifies such a claim.

Instead of the editorials, how about the facts?

Lakeland and Haines City used to be Southern though. I know many folks from that area who are as Southern as me though now most live in the Panhandle, Georgia or further south around Clewiston now...still southern there

Burden of proof is on the candidate, just as when any of us applies for a passport, the burden of proof is on us to produce legitimate documents.

The assclown Marxist has no paper trail — no legitimate BC, no college transcripts have been released, it’s all locked down. If you find that acceptable, fine, go over to DU. I’m not a constitutional scholar, so I won’t go there. Find one of those to debate the fine points. I don’t believe he has fulfilled the constitutional requirements, and as I said, a large number of Americans agree with me. If you are satisfied, fine.

very well stated Web S. now even if the BC thing does not pan out, a by product of all of the talk regarding it has been the thing of ALL of his records being hidden, something that would not have been brought out as quickly, if at all, if the BC thing had not been hammered on. there are still quite a few in this country who have no idea about hussein’s hidden past. the BC thing has helped get that fact out there to the sheeple not paying attention, especially the younger voters.
