NEW YORK (Reuters) - Former U.S. President Bill Clinton launched a free guide on Wednesday to the New York City neighborhood of Harlem where authorities say more than one third of small businesses have closed amid the U.S. recession.
The "Zagat Spotlight on Harlem" highlights 323 restaurants, nightspots, shops and attractions in the northern Manhattan neighborhood with food, decor and service ratings based on feedback from customers.
"Small businesses have been the lifeblood of the Harlem economy," said Clinton, whose foundation is headquartered in Harlem. "Today many of them are struggling, as businesses are all over America, with the recession."
"We hope the guide will not only showcase all there is to see and do in Harlem but drive more customers, residents and visitors alike, to visit Harlem establishments and spark the creation of even more locally owned businesses," he said.

Yeah, and who owns this anti-capitalist economy??? I wonder why Obama is not driving around Harlem talking up his “stimulus” plan???
Ahhh, who the heck goes to NYC to have dinner in Harlem? Besides, the suicidal people who can’t afford Dr. Kevorkian.
Good point, Mr and Mrs O went to Soho or the Village as I recall on their “date night”. Now with Bill’s new Zagat survey, the O’s will know the good restaurants in Harlem. And they’ll be safe with the Secret Service detail.
As long as his car has locking hub caps/rims.
How’s that change working out for YOU Harlem?
Michelle uses her ethnicity for the votes it gets her, but I bet a hundred dollars the O’s never live in a predominantly African American neighborhood ever again. Actually, they left if after he got elected into office with a little help from Tony Rezko.
I can probably count on one hand the number of times Bubba has stayed in Harlem for more than 24 hours. What an idiot.
Harlem’s problems could be solved in a year or less. Simply make it a zero tax, free trade zone. You’d have gentrification completed in a year or two and businesses blooming by the dozens.
Of course it wouldn’t work...
