Defense: President Obama dreams of a world without nuclear weapons. Unless testing and maintenance of our nuclear deterrent is resumed, it will be a world without American nuclear weapons.
We recently observed the anniversaries of the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, actions that brought an abrupt end to the carnage of World War II and arguably have prevented the wars since from escalating to another worldwide conflict. Yet President Obama appears ready and willing to sacrifice America's nuclear readiness by avoiding the testing and maintenance necessary to keep our deterrent ready and credible. Rather, in Prague, he announced that the U.S. would "immediately and aggressively" pursue ratification of the comprehensive test ban treaty (CTBT) with which we now voluntarily comply.
