Just took his coffin off the plane, navy pallbearers present. Beautiful and moving.

Even the newscasters are trying to hold back their tears.

The hearse is now heading to All Saint's chapel where his body will be in repose until tomorrow.

Tomorrow there will be a procession throughout Jacksonville. A sad, but also a proud moment for Jacksonville.

Saw it on Fox News.

Were the Captain’s children that placed flowers on the coffin?

RIP Captain Speicher, welcome home at long last. May God in Heaven rest your soul, and may His Holy Spirit comfort and bless your family and all your loved ones, secure in the knowledge that you will be reunitied again in the hereafter.

Yes.

From the article....Speicher's widow and each of the couple's grown children laid flowers on the casket before it was carried to a hearse for a short ride to All Saints Chapel on the base.

Made me cry....

I believe that was Speicher’s two grown children who first placed the flowers, they were three and one years old when he went missing. His wife re-married after 18 months to his best friend, Buddy Harris, also a Navy Pilot. They also had two children. If you look at the picture, it was his best friend, his wife, and the four children.

Thank you. I am typing this through misty eyes.

I knew that Captain Speicher’s children were very young when he was killed. I did not recall how many children he had.

I think there are some Freepers who owe Pres. George W. Bush an apology because, as memory serves me, some (a very few) were accusing him of “knowing where SS was” and covering it up to “get along” in Iraq.
