The White House is using the Obama for America and Organizing for America databases to run their health care promotion campaign.
This is an inappropriate intersection of the campaign and the government. The government can not keep “Enemies’ Lists” using government assets, personnel or equipment. Neither can they keep “Friends’ Lists”.
Gibbs knows this. He is just blowing smoke to keep the issue confused. Eventually, the White House will get nailed on this issue.

Gibbs had a point though in that an example email needs to be provided to determine source. I think the WH is using political lists to email people but Garrett needs to follow-up and provide evidence of an email then hold the WH to answering where they got it.

Major Garrett just reported that he has received permission from the people that contacted him about the email to release their names. He has talked to Gibbs and told him that he will give them the e mail addresses.

This is an excellent issue on which to nail them too. It exemplifies this administrations Marxist soul.
Also, as I said once before, look for the issue that the White House press corp gets so tired of not getting answers to, that they began to re-ask so as not to let gibbs get away with it.
One female reporter started to do that with Major Garrett’s question, and gibbs didn’t like it one bit.

I think Zero has GWB’s White House Mailing list. I started getting e-mails from them a couple months ago.
I had signed up for e-mails from Bush a few years ago.
I think Garrett is on to something but when he didn’t provide an email, it isn’t going to go anywhere.
if hanky-panky is going on, then an email showing it has to be produced otherwise the db people will have no idea what to look for. It seems that Major is going to provide the emails, which is good, but I wasn’t as impressed as others at his performance. He is on to something but I am not sure what Gibbs was supposed to say if Major didn’t have a specific instance to work with.
Let’s see how it all falls out over the next week or so.
