Montana Prevents Obama From Rigging Town Hall Audience
Washington Times via Newsmax ^ | August 14, 2009 | Matthew Mosk

Posted on 08/14/2009 10:37:18 AM PDT by kddid

There is no guarantee that President Barack Obama will be able to avoid critics of his healthcare proposal when he hosts a town hall meeting in Belgrade, Mont., on Friday.

Local officials in Belgrade and neighboring Bozeman personally oversaw the handing out of passes Thursday in much the same fashion that a venue would dole out tickets to a rock concert. Hundreds of people seeking to attend the president's event began lining up Wednesday afternoon, and camped out overnight in the parking lots of the two local municipal buildings.

.

Gibbs said he believes the media have been disappointed that there were no fireworks at the president's town hall. He also made clear that, while the president does not welcome the sort of belligerent hecklers that have surfaced at numerous congressional town halls, he is holding his events to address what he says is misinformation that he thinks is fanning much of the opposition.

.

Marilyn Foltz, a city official in Belgrade, said she believes the Montana residents who waited overnight for tickets in queues that she said snaked like the lines at Disney World, "just want to hear what the president had to say."

.

"There was no effort," Foltz said, to skew the audience for the president's benefit. "It was very truly first-come, first-served. The tickets were dispensed until they were gone."

Hmmm, Conservatives have jobs. Who would best be able to camp out and wait for days to get Obama tickets?

People with the ability to wait on line for a long time are usually unemployed.

Waiting for the potted plants to show....
++++++++++++

Yeah, the POTUS/TOTUS socialists will have a few ‘tickets’ in their back pockets to hand out to a few select ‘citizen’ activists, who will be nicely rewarded, at some point in the future, for asking the PC/screened/approved questions.

We’ll see, but color me skeptical..

One thought here...if Obama attempts to talk long and hard to avoid questions, he WILL say something untrue and stupid.

Yeah, but the more he does it, the quicker the bloom wears off the rose, and the more it ultimately helps us. His infatuation with himself is wearing very thin even with his starry-eyed kool-aid addicted Obamabots - ask Peggy Noonan.

Heck, I'd like to see him have a 'town hall' meeting every day of the week this month. And maybe after that, take another Apology Tour to kowtow in front of yet another bloody anti-semitic tyrant or kleptocratic tinpot dictator or two on foreign soil, and issue yet another set of grovelling apologies about how eeeeeevil America truly is. The American people really love seeing him do that, too.;-)

If he truly cares what the people think, forget the speaches. People already know what he wants to do. Go directly to the questions, for the whole meeting. But.....then he wouldn’t hear his own speach......while everyone sleeps.

No way will the White House allow people opposed

You're absolutely correct. No way, especially given how thin skinned The One is.......waaay too much at stake; this event is going to be buttoned up tight.

I’m hoping that some vigilant conservatives in the area do a thorough check of this process and vet it thoroughly. I really want to know if the passes have been handed out impartially and to “real” people (as opposed to 0bamadrones and fake doctors).

Until I have proof positive (and that proof might require several angry citizens asking very pointed questions of TOTUS), I am going to assume this is just another staged event. 0bama has NEVER done a public event that wasn’t totally scripted, and I can’t believe that this one hasn’t been “arranged” either.

It doesn’t matter who gets in. It matters who is allowed to speak. If Obama knows in advance who are going to ask the puff questions, it’s going to be a joke again.

Somehow, I don’t believe this. It could be that is what the WH wants us to think.

We will see.

I’ve read from another site, that part of Montana is very anti-Obama. If the audience wasn’t packed it’s going to be interesting. The local meeting in central WV yesterday was just ARRP members and retired teachers. There were no signs nor union thugs. Upwards of three hundred showed up. That’s a huge meeting for WV. People skewered the ARRP reps. Seniors are pissed. The polls are correct. Obamacare is as popular as a dead rat stinking up a house. The townhalls are the tip of the iceberg.

This whole town hall business has got me thinking about the media-staged ‘town hall’ type debates & focus groups they use during presidential election seasons... they always use “undecided voters” — which guarantees an audience of unprincipled, fickle morons. If you get into the final stretch of an election and can’t decide who to vote for, you shouldn’t be voting at all, and you certainly shouldn’t be called on to provide your alleged voting wisdom to the masses.

Town hall meetings would be much more meaningful and entertaining if the entire audience was filled with raging extremists from both sides.

It sounds “fishy” to me. I certainly wouldn't trust Obama in any way. I agree that if people are camping out, they probably don't have a life. It sounds like a typical obama supporter.
Obama has never been an honest player. I have no idea why anyone would have ever thought otherwise. His whole political career has been built on taking advantage of his opponents in the most unseemly ways. Why would anyone trust him? Why would anyone take anything he does at face value? He has to have a cult of personality because if they actually delved into his past behavior, his devotees would find that he is one nasty and underhanded and lying gutter snipe.

Any reason why obozo picked Montana considering it would be pro-American conservative?

Are you forgetting that Montana has a Democrat Governor and two Democrat Senators at the moment? Max Baucus is the leading Democrat writing the Senate version of Obamacare.

Hundreds of people seeking to attend the president's event began lining up Wednesday afternoon, and camped out overnight in the parking lots of the two local municipal buildings.

While perhaps not the case at this event, it seems that an emerging tactic by SEIU thugs is to have these townhalls in small venues on a first-come-first-served basis, and then bus in your supporters in the wee hours of the morning so as to stack the line with members before the general public begins arriving.
