Rasmussen Reports poll shows Toomey ahead by 12 points

Sen. Arlen Specter might have greater worries than receiving rancorous receptions at town hall meetings.

A Rasmussen Reports poll released Thursday shows the Democrat trailing Republican Pat Toomey by 12 points in next year's Senate race. The survey indicates that a majority of Pennsylvania voters view Specter unfavorably.

"I was staggered by the low base of support that Sen. Specter received," said Scott Rasmussen, president of the New Jersey-based independent polling firm. "It did not surprise me that his numbers were down, but I was blown away by the extent of the drop."

The poll, an automated telephone survey of 1,000 likely Pennsylvania voters taken Tuesday, has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Toomey is running at exactly the right time. We’ve got a ways to go till 2010 but we can count on Obama not to stop pushing his agenda.

I’ll contribute to Toomey. I despise Sphincter, and will experience great joy at his political extermination.

I think it likely Specter will face increasing pressure from the Pennsylvania Democratic party and the DNC to step aside in the primaries for Sestak or some other contender. His party switch fooled no one, and he’s political dogmeat right now. I don’t see that changing between now and 2010.

That one guy at the town hall meeting really nailed Spectre with a zinger. He said something like he wanted to thank him for coming out to listen to various points of view on behalf of all his constituents that worked tireless hours to get him elected...the Republicans.

Nobody likes a traitor.

Stupid is as stupid does, this imbecile only had to look at what happened to all of the other American traitors before him to see what his fate would be.

Evil pathetic bastard.

Nobody likes a traitor.

Exactly! Buried way down in the story is that Toomey is also beating Sestak but that Sestak does better against him than Specter does.

If Specter hadn't switched, Republican primary voters would've rejected him as a RINO. As it is, the Dems will reject him as a DINO and nominate Sestak. The race will offer a clear ideological choice.

If you have a Facebook account, consider becoming a fan of Toomey. It's a great way to keep up with his campaign. Toomey already has 2,200 more Facebook supporters than Specter.
