Boycott FOX News (Glenn Beck) Advertisers (Corporate Wall-of-Shame List!) My Letter
broken_arrow1 ^ | August 15, 2009 | broken_arrow1

Posted on 08/15/2009 6:42:47 AM PDT by broken_arrow1

Linked to FR post regarding P & G product line (Corporate Wall-of-Shame).

Here is one of my letters...

TO: Men's Warehouse

From the reports I have seen, Men’s Warehouse has either 1). Independently determined that there is an inflammatory nature to the comments posed on ‘The Glenn Beck Show’ that just happens to coincide in time with a threatened boycott by an organization called “Colors of Change”, or 2). That in order to avoid controversy, Men’s Warehouse will cave to any organization that threatens to Boycott?

I want to remind you that Men’s Warehouse didn't seem to have a problem with advertising until pressured by "Colors of Change", an organization started and run by a self-avowed communist, Van Jones. Are Men’s Warehouse’s actions those built upon the fundamentals and ideals of America? I think not.

Colors of Change is nothing more than a black nationalist communist organization that seeks to hide behind skin colors to mask their racism, their intolerance, and their anti-American, anti-Freedom agenda which is a threat to EVERY American, no matter what their colors might be.

Because Men’s Warehouse has decided to align themselves with a bunch of communists, then Men’s Warehouse must also be communist-leaning!

Consequently, I plan to BOYCOTT your clothing line, and I plan to tell my friends and neighbors NOT to shop at Men’s Warehouse, in favor of a more freedom loving, America-friendly business.

You keep your commie clothing and I will keep my money

Boycott FOX News (Glenn Beck) Advertisers

FOX News has always been the propaganda arm of the Republican Party, willing to twist facts and even lie to promote the Republican agenda.

But the election of President Obama in 2008 pushed FOX News into outright hate-mongering and incitement of violence, which is intolerable in a democracy. Here are some examples:

6/30/09 Glenn Beck agreed with guest who urged bin Laden to attack U.S. with nuclear weapons: "The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States. Because it’s going to take a grassroots, bottom-up pressure, because these politicians prize their office, prize the praise of the media and the Europeans. Only — it’s an absurd situation. Again, only Osama can execute an attack which will force Americans to demand that their government protect them effectively, consistently, and with as much violence as necessary."

7/25/09 Neil Cavuto and guest said health care reform will impose universal euthanasia like "Soylent Green."

7/28/09 Glenn Beck called President Obama a racist: "The President has exposed himself as a guy ... over and over and over again ... who has a deep-seated hatred for white people ... or the white culture... This man is a racist."

8/6/09 Glenn Beck "joked" about giving Speaker Pelosi a glass of wine with poison.

We join with FoxNewsBoycott and other groups in this boycott. Read the latest update from wikoogle, which includes advertiser phone numbers if you'd like to call: 8/9/09

Just a question... Are you 100% certain that Men’s Wearhouse is purchasing advertising time on a national basis on Fox News, or is it local advertising cut-ins? If it is a local buy, I doubt the corporate people have any control over it.

DANG! With Gottschalks out of business now, I was planning on checking out Mens Warehouse for my next order of jeans and Flannel shirts.

I’ll not consider that store anymore.

Seriously though...I appreciate Glenn Beck from what I read of him here at FR as I don’t listen, or watch the media.

Men’s Warehouse won’t be seeing any of my money, but never would have anyway.

Try Cabellas. I buy all my casual shirts, jeans, and moccasins from them.

They have a canvas shirt that lasts FOREVER.

Their prices are reasonable.

Matt Stringer
vp marketing/creative services

This is the guy who supposedly sent the email to the guy at Daily Kos. Personally, I don’t believe anything that Daily Kos or Media Matters says. If this is really the VP of Marketing at Men’s Wearhouse, someone should find his email address and post it.

I agree that boycotts are effective and should always be used as a weapon. However, I was just asking if the Men’s Wearhouse ads are really national. If they are not, people will look stupid if they blame the corporation for a local commercial inserted in the local cable head end.

Since this was actually started by Daily Kos, it might be the case that it is a stupid mistake. Just my two cents. And I am not defending anyone who pulls their ads from Beck’s program. I will boycott them if they have actually done that. I just want to make sure the claim by Daily Kos is true.

Thanks for the heads up on Cabellas. I think I saw a catalogue from them around here not that long ago. I'll check with my wife to see which stack of stuff it's in.

She saves everything.

Screw a boycott. I just will not do biz with any company aiding the enemy in any form period. Maybe ACORN can buy some overpriced uncomfortable suits.

Don’t fret over Men’s Warehouse, as there are several large national corporations on the Wall-of-Shame list other than Men’s Warehouse. GEICO, Progressive, Procter & Gamble just to name a few. Fry the bigger fish - write them all a letter!

Forget the Cabelas catalog (although it is terrific) Just go to the website, or better yet, if you are lucky enough to have a store near you, load up the kiddies and grandkiddies and have a FUN shopping trip.

We love Cabelas :)

I wrote a letter to Geico, telling them that I would not be contacting them and why. This is the truth, I was just getting ready to call them for quotes on homeowners and car insurance because I liked their little Gekko and the fact they advertised on FOX. Beck was right, Obama is a racist, his entire life has been laced with prejudice against white people and the USA as well. So, let them sell insurance to 13.5% of the US population.

Go through the usual channel, it was enough for Daily Kos’ drones.

I’m not fretting over anything. Before I boycott someone, I just want to make sure the reason is accurate.

I’m guessing 75% of the Men’s Wearhouse consumer demographic is conservative-leaning.

ACORN and union thugs don’t wear suits.

I had insurance with GEICO from 1965, until I left the US in 2005. Wow, that is 40 years!
I did, however, send them an Email expressing my displeasure over their taking sides.
I did receive a boilerplate reply of no substance.

I have to admit that they were a great company, even after I had a teenage daughter that smashed cars like they were toys.

Boycot Sargento Cheese: My discussion with Sargento below.
Dear Sargento,
I am a big fan of your products, but since you are submitting to political pressure and boycotting the Glenn Beck show, I am boycotting you.
Regards

Dear Mr. — We appreciate you sharing your comments and concerns about Sargento ads appearing during “The Glenn Beck Show.” It’s true that after listening to some of his recent shows we decided to stop buying ads during that program, but Sargento still advertises on other
Fox News shows.

Sargento makes high quality cheese available to people who want these products, regardless of their political affiliations. As a business, we may not agree with many of the current administration’s policies.
However, we also do not want to be associated with hateful speech used by either liberal or conservative television hosts. We’ll share your comments with our marketing department.

Pat Lombardo
Sargento Consumer Affairs Department

Dear Pat,
You are reacting to political pressure, making a normative decision and a very loud, public statement based on political pressure. You may run your business however you wish. I shall spend my money however I wish. I posted your decision to pull advertising from Mr. Beck’s show on numerous conservation blog and discussion sites. Leftists have long loved boycotts, going back to the 1960s and Cesar Chavez’s boycott of grapes. Turnabout is fair play.

When a business so publically chooses sides in a political discussion, the business only stands to loss. Leave politics to the politicians and focus on your core competancy: making cheese. You are good at it, but there are plenty of folks out there making cheese. I am going to miss your ricotta and hard parmesan. Best value in the market.

regards

This is what happens when you upset people on all sides.

50% of the time Glenn Beck sounds rational & reasonable. But when he start trashing President Bush along with O, he loses Bushies like me. NEVER compare W with O.

Having Napalitano & joining with him trashing W for Patriot Act. He says he even opposed Iraq war. Then have Ron Paul & trash Republicans.

'nough trashing your own side & losing support. You need Republicans if you really need defense. Trashing everyone won't work.

Thank you for your link to http://www.defendglen.com/ ! I have written most of the advertisers and I will be cancelling with State Farm, who by the way, support amnesty for illegal aliens. Anyone know of good car insurance company besides Progressive or GEICO? Thanks.

Actually, my son just pulled me out of State Farm too and put me with Grange. I haven’t looked into Grange to find out about them yet, but my son said I’d get a better deal anyway...he’s a licensed P&C agent.

Do you have some evidence that State Farm supports amnesty for illegal aliens? If this is so, I’ll change insurers.

Exellent post. Passing by a product you know and love in the grocery store, or changing insurance companies is upsetting. However, we are in a stuggle with tyranny

In response to your question about State Farm supporting amnesty. I became aware of this last summer. Here is a quote from LULAC’s Ohio web site that states State Farm is one of their sponsors along with Proctor and Gamble.

http://www.lulacohio.org/
On Saturday, June 20, 2009, LULAC Ohio hold its Annual State Convention in Dayton, OH.

The local LULAC Council did an awesome job, organizing not only the Convention, but also a Job Fair, sponsored by Empleos & Employment, and a “Community Awards & Scholarship Luncheon”, sponsored by State Farm, during which Ezra Escudero (Director of Ohio Latino Affairs) and Juan Manuel Solana (Consul of Mexico) made opening remarks.
I am sure that if you googled State Farm and LULAC, or amnesty, you will find more. One of the Freepers recommended Grange Insurance. I am going to check them out.
