Conservative Groups Dismiss Report on Rise of Militias

Conservative groups are rejecting as "anecdotal and exaggerated" a report out of the Southern Poverty Law Center that claims the election of a black president has fanned the flames of a resurgent anti-government "militia movement." The SPLC report cited a recent rash of ideologically driven violent crimes, rising gun sales, a reported rise in the number of militia groups and level of activity and stern warnings from law enforcement officials about the potential for violence in concluding that "there are unmistakable signs of a revival" since the 1990s. The assessment said Latino immigration, and particularly the election of President Obama, have injected a "strong racial element" into the opposition movement.

SPLC puts out opinion to further its fundraising and leftist agenda. It is much more of an activist extremist organization than the NRA.

Its a one man show, Mark Potok, he is going to ruin Obama’s presidency unless Zero specifically tells his Kos legion to stop with the race baiting.

In zero’s “post-racial” world, the democrats declare everything is about race.

I don’t dismiss them, I just don’t worry about them like I worry about the fascists in the white house.

The SPLC is a big racist confab. It would be called a think tank in other circles but you have to have brains to think. This mob just spews.

I’m sure the report is BS.

Having said that, I believe militias could be a good thing, as long as they stay within the law and aren’t aggressive.

I seemed to miss the report from the “Southern Poverty Law Center” regarding inner city gangs like MS13. They are heavily armed, kill people almost DAILY, and are racist; yet we don’t hear as much as a peep from this “law center” about them.

“SPLC puts out opinion to further its fundraising and leftist agenda. It is much more of an activist extremist organization than the NRA. “

And the proof is, if SPLC was actually concerned about violence, racial bias, and disruption, they would be worried about the 230 cities in the USA where the narco terrorist Mexican drug cartels have set up their organized crime sprees.....like Phoenix, Az, the kidnapping capital of the world...second only to Mexico.

If we put out the kind of rumors they put out - but said them about black people - we'd be labeled a hate group. These folks are nuts.

Rush was slamming ABC yesterday on this. Apparently they just accept the claims of the SPLC and don’t bother to confirm anything or check any facts. So much for “journalism.” What a joke.

All this was totally predictable though. We knew it before the election but the majority out there wanted to stay in there fantasy world.

Does the definition of Right Wing Militia Include every group out there under the sun that might engage in hate whether their political leaning is Democrat or Republican?

Example: NAZI groups are Socialist in nature and tend to lean towards the National Socialist Party which leans towards the Democrat Party (at least in the last election they did). So are the Left Wing or Right Wing?

"SPLC puts out opinion to further its fundraising and leftist agenda."

Exactly! Stoke the fear and cash in. The Southern Poverty Law Center may be Southern, but it is hardly poor. That Obamanites are using their "Report" in an attempt to stifle debate is an indication they are losing. The harder they play the race card the weaker the case.

And the probelm with a militia is?

These people need to read the bill of rights again. It was the founders intent that it was the obligation of all able bodied men to belong to a militia.

Maybe if every state did have a “well regulated milita” that does not answer to the federal government we wouldn’t be in the situation we are today.

I can just imagine what a meeting of such a group must be like. If the DEA, FBI, ATF, DHS, and God knows how many other Fed agencies (NIS, CIA) members didn't have some way to know each other it could really be pretty funny. Can't you just see 30 or 40 guys in flannel shirts and week old beards standing around bitching about the Federal gummint only to find out that George over there recognize Jim from his days at the FBI before he went to DHS and Jim knows Bob from his days at ATF, etc., etc. How long do you think it would take for them to realize they were ALL undercover stooges? LOL I really would love to be there to see the dawning realization that they had all set each other up.

Whatever "movement" that is occurring has nothing to do with the race of the President, whatever that might be. His ideology, definitely. Same thing happened when the 'toon was elected. Although this time the "gun sales" reaction was through the roof compared to last time. The "militia" reaction is yet to be fully gauged.

This loon was squaking the same tale back then as well. Of course it's pretty much his only toon.
