Im not sure the man who popped off and tweeted that Sonia Sotomayor was a Latina woman racist is the best Henry Higgins for the Eliza Doolittle of Alaska.
But Newt Gingrich was a professor. And he does know something about pulling yourself up by dragging down others and imploding when you take center stage both Palin specialties.
Besides, he agrees with Sarah who fretted that her parents and son Trig might be in danger from Obama death panels that we should be very wary about trusting government with end-of-life decisions.
So Newt took it upon himself to become Palins Pygmalion. He told Politico that the out-of-work pol should write a book; take a commentator gig on TV; get a condo in D.C. or New York to use as an East Coast base; and prepare three types of speeches one to make money, another to project her brand before universities and interest groups, and a vivid campaign stump speech to use for Republican candidates in 2010.
Most important, he advised, the dizzy Palin has to be clear in her own head what she wants to do.

Comparing the Healthcare Decisions Day proclamation to Section 1233 of HR 3200 is ridiculous. The two are like apples and oranges. The attempt to link the two shows how desperate the proponents of nationalized health care are to shift the debate away from the disturbing details of their bill.

I get the feeling that Newt is threatened by Sarah’s clout - was he planning on running in 2012 and is afraid of being eclipsed?
I hardly think Sarah needs his advice in what to do with her life - including moving to the east coast. She’s doing just fine from Alaska.
forget about newt and all of that... read the rest of the article where she lies about Palin...
Maureen Dowd is an F’n idiot. I wish someone would smack her silly. I wouldn’t mind seeing her in front of a death panel
Oh gee, a NYT Left Wing Extremist disagrees w/Gov Palin; how shocking. It is really sad when a semi-attractive woman becomes an old maid...Couldn’t be envy.
Pray for America and Lady Palin
Because they hate conservatives and want to see them dead, politically.
I guess at this point they just expect all Republicans to trash her and then wag their tails while they wait for a treat
Most of them still do. All of them would probably like to but a few of the smarter ones like Newt realize the hold she has over the base and that they need to be careful with their words.
Jesus. Someone needs to hop on a man.
Best,
Chris
I understand your sentiment but I can’t spare so much as an electron for Dowd, even if it would lead to snarking on her.
I kind of feel sorry for her though, she’s so.......miserable.
Yeah,, imagine the libs lives in their hands. I think their heads will explode. Geez such vile language from the left, what, are they saying NO ONE has a right to their own opinion. This was Sarah’s opinion, she, as an American, has the right to say whatever she feels like. She scares the poop out of libs, I LOVE IT. Obama wishes he had this kind of power, to go on facebook and with a few keystrokes scare the living hell out of the competition
Mo Dowdy notwistanding, Newt needs to pull his head out of his sycophantic East-coast arse and get a real life. The man is incoherent when it comes to Sarah Palin, which is a pity because they could learn a lot from each other. She might learn some of the sneaky little tricks of getting around in DC, and he might even learn to be a man and find out where his blankety-blank gonads are. (if he even has a pair...)

Good question, Paul Begalla went off on Sarah and threw Newt into the mix while he was at it.
Newt has been indicating he was “thinking” about running... he doesn’t seem to know his day has passed along with a few others who seem to have the same aspirations.
Yes, it is in there and Ezekial Emanual is on the 15 member board, Obama wasted no time in naming them, this bill was the next step, they are sneaking this stuff past us in bits and pieces even without HR3200 etc....
If you have HiDef TV, the next time MoDo is on Meet the Press, look closely and you’ll see that she has had so much Botox over the many years that her pupils no longer dilate...
Palin Derangement Syndrome continues.
for someone the Libs push as irrelevant, yada, yada,
Sarah Palin has them in a hissy fit and making them use all
that ink for their ad hominem crapOla
Dowd has become Sarah-obsessed. It seems she’s writing about Palin every other column lately. Sarah’s inside their heads setting the charges that will make those heads explode.

Pernicious, corrosive jealousy isn’t pretty don’tchaknow. poor mo, perhaps Peggy Noonan—whom Jim Thompson still has not allowed onto the FR spell checker—will drink a few rounds with sadmo.
Bless both their hearts.
Bwahahahaha ... echoes of G.R.I.T.S. ring in my head with your post!
You betcha. ; )
Ain’t it somethin’, Modo?
She took a forum, Facebook, more commonly used by kids hooking up and cyberstalking, and with one catchy phrase, several footnotes and a zesty disregard for facts, managed to hijack the health care debate from Mr. Obama.
It was really that simple.
Barry really is a dumba$$.

I don’t quite understand the argument that Section 1233 of HR 3200 is an attempt to coerce seniors into ending their lives by offering free counseling about end of life decisions. The counseling is voluntary; the coercion supposedly comes from your physician’s inability to turn down the $$$ he would make from the counseling; i.e., the money from the counseling session would make him unable to ethically decide whether you really needed it.
I say if your physician cannot be trusted to make his health care decisions separate and apart from the profit motive, then it is clear why we are having a health care crisis—the doctors make more money when they prescribe more treatment. More office visits, more physical therapy, more surgery, more MRI’s....all done in the name of increasing their paycheck. Now actually, I agree with this assessment, but there has been precious little talk about how the profit motive influences doctors treatment decisions. Over treatment is always blamed on trial lawyers. But studies have consistently shown that where doctors are paid on a salary basis, rather than fee for service, the health care bills go down substantially. This is an avenue for reform that deserves more consideration.
And the obsession with SArah Palin continues. Question: “If she is hurting Pubs everywhere, wouldn’t ignoring her be the sensible approach?”
I was watching Laura Ingram subbing for BOR and she had a RAT on, who was oozing disdain for anyone who was opposing anything not to his liking. He was allegedly a speechwriter for Biden. Ha, how do you write speeches for a plagarizer? that’s got to be some cushy goverment job, like traffic light observer or Director of Communications (Exrtaterrestrial Division).
I have to admit, I only read the excerpt of Dowd’s column you provided. I can pretty much guess the rest. This is about the tenth time in the last few months that Dowd has dipped her pen into her seemingly bottomless well of venom to attack Sarah Palin. I honestly believe that the leftist tactic of hurling personal insults is wearing very very thin, especially with so many other pressing problems facing the nation and the world.
If (as you assert with no links to proof) health care bills go down where doctors are on salary, this would most likely be due to the fact that they're not personally responsible for liability insurance premiums and thus order fewer unnecessary tests as a defense against ambulance chasers. In other words, it's an argument for tort reform, terrifying as this is to Dems.
BTW, nice job regurgitating Obama's "arguments"
excuse me, I didn’t see the by line.....more trash from the ass....don’t even read this crap, she is over....dowdy should be her name now...
Take the Heroin needle out of your arm Maureen Shroud!
Because it's the start of the slippery slope to euthanasia. To see the progression, study up on what has already happened in the Netherlands, Great Britain, and Oregon. The progression is from "voluntary" to "mandatory".
Not to mention a giant impersonal federal government has no business getting involved in counseling about such issues as these issues do not rise to the federal level, not even as matters of a grossly abused “interstate commerce” clause. Health care itself shouldn’t be a federal issue.
MoDo is still completely offensive and off base about Palin, but even while she twists the facts and hurls more insults at her, the fact of Palin’s success and significance comes through.
Palin is finally free enough to be too influential and formidable for a shrew like Dowd to misrepresent her with any credibility.
Maureen, I hate to break this to you, but you might not be the best person to lecture Sarah Palin for being superficial, intellectually lightweight and fast and loose with the truth.
Actually, there IS one aspect of healthcare that IS a "federal issue", and it directly relates to the "interstate commerce" clause. Namely, that any consumer should be able to "shop" for health insurance from any source, rather than just the ones in his state of residence.
Good shot!! Bullseye!!
She's a woman who can't stand the spotlight shining on another woman.
“BTW, nice job regurgitating Obama’s “arguments”
I was regurgitating Palin’s argument, in case you didn’t notice. She said that people would be coerced into end of life planning by their doctors, who would talk the unwilling into it because they could make a fee. I said if Palin thinks doctors are so easily corrupted by the prospect of an extra fee, then we need to rethink the way medical treatment is paid. Now where did Obama say that?
“If (as you assert with no links to proof) health care bills go down where doctors are on salary, this would most likely be due to the fact that they’re not personally responsible for liability insurance premiums and thus order fewer unnecessary tests as a defense against ambulance chasers.”
I don’t know about you, but when my wife brings the car to a shop “because it’s making a funny noise” I end up with a much bigger repair bill than when I take care of things. Never have that happen? But then, I guess you believe that car repairmen are a worthless lot, and doctors would never think of material gain. Is that it? I don’t know about you, but I live on the planet earth, and everywhere I’ve been when you give someone a blank check, you end up paying more. Why do you think it is different with medical care?
He always keeps his name in the mix of presidential candidate possibilities. But that's only to keep his name in the public mind so he can garner well-paying TV stints and appearances.....and get lucrative speaker fees at political and corporate functions.
Here and there, he deliberately throws into the public arena some outrageous statements guaranteed to raise eyebrows and hackles. This calls more attention to himself and guarantees more bookings.....especially if he pops off about a fellow Republican.
Always follow the momey trail with Newt. It's enormously hard work keeping in the public eye to make a living after you've been a D.C. big shot.....and he works very hard at it. It's his personal business and income survival now, folks. Keep this in mind when you hear him opine.
