As President Obama and his Democrat-controlled Congress try to force healthcare reform on an American population largely pleased with the current system, our neighbors to the north are actually considering improving their structure by -- wait for it!!! -- welcoming additional competition from private insurers.
I kid you not.
Within hours of the Obama administration saying that it might consider a reform package without a government option, the Associated Press inconveniently reported the following:
Story Continues Below Ad ↓
The incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association says this country's health-care system is sick and doctors need to develop a plan to cure it.
Dr. Anne Doig says patients are getting less than optimal care and she adds that physicians from across the country - who will gather in Saskatoon on Sunday for their annual meeting - recognize that changes must be made.
"We all agree that the system is imploding, we all agree that things are more precarious than perhaps Canadians realize," Doing said in an interview with The Canadian Press. [...]
[Dr. Robert Ouellet, the current president of the CMA] has been saying since his return that "a health-care revolution has passed us by," that it's possible to make wait lists disappear while maintaining universal coverage and "that competition should be welcomed, not feared."
In other words, Ouellet believes there could be a role for private health-care delivery within the public system.
Oh my! Canada's government-run healthcare system is in a state of disarray, so much so that they're considering increasing competition by allowing folks to buy private insurance.
That'll surely help Obama's cause!
But here's the money quote:
"(Canadians) have to understand that the system that we have right now - if it keeps on going without change - is not sustainable," said Doig.
"They have to look at the evidence that's being presented and will be presented at (the meeting) and realize what Canada's doctors are trying to tell you, that you can get better care than what you're getting and we all have to participate in the discussion around how do we do that and of course how do we pay for it."
It's going to be absolutely delicious to see how this gets reported by Obama-loving media in the next 24 hours.
Stay tuned.

ALL HAIL OUR NEIGHBORS TO THE NORTH!
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
That was very good thank you
I think it will be ignored by the Obama State Media
Just as Canada and the socialist welfare states of old Europe are beginning to abandon socialism and all the mediocrity that comes with it, Ubama and the rats are full speed ahead to foist it on America. It’s un-freaking-believable what the rats will do to satisfy their lust for power.
The “change of heart” lasted about eight hours. The Obama administration is now saying nothing has changed, they still favor thr public option.
It’s all or nothing for these animals. Their plan is to wear us out nefore the 2010 electiosn because they now know the writing is on the wall their majority in both houses is done for.
Thank you for checking it out. We need to get young people excited about saving America. There is a strong core of young folks from Santa Ynez, home of the Reagan Ranch, who are trying to get it going. I think there are young people living throughout rural America who share Justin Tevis' love of America and freedom and also believe in personal responsibility. Everyone can help by sharing this video and trying to ignite a youth movement that stands for freedom and individual responsibility. If you notice the crowd coalescing around Justin Tevis while he speaks you will notice a decent number of good looking young Americans who are there because they oppose the federal government running their lives.

It was very refreshing to see. Especially earlier today I read this crap

You know you’re right, but more than you know...
Social Security is going broke, Medicare is already broke...
If things don’t change with our political system, (that means voting for changes against those that actually need both monetary and medical help). Yes, I am one of those that does need Social Security but it really does have to change.
Both programs have to be changed if they can be viable for the next decade. Politicians do NOT have the gumption to vote against their constituency so the problem continues..
Can’t we ever vote in politicians that will look at America as a whole and vote for/against programs that actually help rather than spend for their voters. I guess it will be a grand day in hell when that happens - voting against voter interests but for the good of the country... well, it is a grand wish...
They matter less and less each day. The new media is destroying them. They can no longer control the news. We are blessed with more and more avenues of information every day.
Thirty years ago Obama's entire agenda would have been passed and signed into law by now.
We have the wind at our backs. Keep on punching.
Keep this BTTT
God still loves America
They supplement with private already.
They have to.
What the various provincies offer is limited health care.
For sample they only cover one eye exam every tow years!
Yeah that would fly here!
LMAO!

Actually the WH statement was pure politi-speak that basically said the same thing as Sebelius. The poor, betrayed DUmmies realize this and are commiserating over it now.
This is good news for Canadians. The health care system is awful....Natasha Richardson [Vanessa Redgrave’s daughter] died because of it....
