NEW YORK, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton and ex-astronaut Buzz Aldrin are to attend a memorial service for Walter Cronkite, officials said.

Cronkite died July 17. He was 92. His funeral was July 24 in New York.

The New York Post said the luminaries are scheduled to speak at the Sept. 9 event at Manhattan's Lincoln Center.

Also reportedly on the guest list are television personality Nick Clooney, CBS executives and newspeople Les Moonves, Sean McManus and Bob Schieffer, veteran broadcast journalist Tom Brokaw and media mogul Howard Stringer.

The Post said Wynton Marsalis, Michael Feinstein, Jimmy Buffett and Mickey Hart, as well as the U.S. Marine Corps band, are lined up to perform.

Sure seems like a long time between death and the memorial. Must have had to wait till after the Messiah took his vacation around the country.

Obama had to postpone the memorial for the grandmother who RAISED him.

And Bill Clinton famously celebrated his birthday months after the fact at that Rolling Stones concert in NYC (the one Scorese filmed).

Remember Chevy Chase on the old SNL? Herein updated:

“Walter Cronkite is still dead. And that’s the way it is.”

His statue? He might have wanted a giant upraised middle finger aimed at and in front of Arlington National Cemetery. On the D.C. side, of course.

(I attended a veteran’s funeral there just four days ago so this comes from the gut as well as the heart. Cronkite was pure evil to our fighting brave both living and rewarded.)

. . . a memorial service for Walter Cronkite . . . on the guest list are television personality Nick Clooney, CBS executives and newspeople Les Moonves, Sean McManus and Bob Schieffer, veteran broadcast journalist Tom Brokaw and media mogul Howard Stringer, Viet Nam's President Nguyen Minh Triet, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung . . . .

Cronkite retired on March 6, 1981 or when Obama was 19. I guess we will hear how much Walter influenced his life.

Sure seems like a long time between death and the memorial.

It will give the communist MSM something to talk about as preparations get under way for the 9/12 rally in D.C. The timing is intentional.

Now, now, we must salute the heroies of liberal faschism and the man who helped us lonse our first war and it seems expecially fitting to have there th4 first presedent to knowingly seek us to lose one. It wwould only be our second loss of a war if we let him succeed, but it will achieve the goal of ending our lead3rship in the world and destoying the legacy of the only revolution that ever actually empowered the peopple.

A liberal ritual celebration of another liberal. Didn’t they used to have show funerals in the Soviet Union? Same thing here. Fake veneration for political purposes.

Someone should mention that Cronkite helped bring about a military disaster.

I believe it's totally inappropriate for obama to attend.

Had Rush died while Bush was in office, it would have been equally inappropriate for him to attend.

This is a disgraceful misuse of the Marine Corps Band. I feel sorry for those poor band members that have to suck it up for this travesty.
This society is going in the toilet in the fast lane.

“More like the inside of a volcano than Paradise”

You, sir, should consider a career as a preacher.

That kind of phrase could scare many souls toward the straight and narrow Path and I mean that from the bottom of my humble but saved soul.

I’ve been to many Evangelical gatherings with modern song & lyrics (and I’m Catholic, BTW). These are my Christian brothers and sisters and Christ Himself calls me into their midst to worship and give thanks.

All those who call unto Christ for salvation, shall all be saved by our Lord and Redeemer.
